I'm watching in August 2023 while I enjoy my red clover tea from fresh blossoms mixed with echinacea. The books that you recommend sound lovely. Your latest video mentions why you don't have time or interest in writing your own book. I enjoy your pleasant and informative videos as I prepare my herbs for dehydrating and honestly don't have time to sit and read with so many chores to do. Thanks for all that you do for us Heidi!

When I was young I liked to eat rose petals. Never knew if they were good for me and I am sure if my mom would have known, she may have freaked out. I wonder if some of those things we did ate as kids was our bodies telling us we needed them.

I remember too pulling out the tiny petals from red clover as a child. It was nicely sweet. Seems we may have done that with whit clover too while looking for a 4 leaf clover at the same time 😊

@@GodLovesYou5635 two tblsp dried red clover in 16 oz boiling water. Allow to stand covered overnight.strain and use to rinse hair after shampooing and conditioner. Leave in. Don't rinse out. You can also drink red clover tea. One tsp to 8oz water. However, if you are pregnant, on birth control pills or shot, on hormone therapy or have a estrogen dependent illness do not drink red clover as it can raise estrogen levels. This is the reason they also use it for fertility in humans and animals.

we have this and the standard white clover all over. Honey bees galore swamp our yard for all of it. Our backyard is 90% clover. We have a little of this but nowhere near as much. So, that's one added benefit... It brings in bees for the garden! Now, if only I could get a hive up for the honey... Subscribed!

Hi Heidi, once upon a time when I owned and ran a health food shop I used to make up herbal tea blends for people with different ailments. My daughter who was a teenager at the time used to suffer with extreme period pain where they put her to bed. She begged me to make her a tea to help with the pain. So I used yarrow, black cohosh, red clover, lemon balm for flavour mainly, chaste berries, feverfew and I think there was one other but I cannot remember from memory, I will have to drag out my recipe book from storage. But let me tell you it was not a nice flavoured tea lol but it worked. Ash screwed her nose up but she asked for it every month after that lol. Michelle
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 7 лет назад
I am sure the feverfew was a big part of the nasty flavor. I grow feverfew and have used it for pain often but I have come to prefer the catnip for that. In fact, my little dog hurt himself again last night (I think he pulled a muscle) so I gave him the blend I made just for the dogs with turmeric, moringa, catnip, cinnamon, and ginger (I think that was all of it) mixed in coconut oil and within 20 minutes, he was fine.
@bohemiangypsy99
@bohemiangypsy99 7 лет назад
LOL I thought it may have been the black cohosh as that stuff did not stink pretty at all lol. I have always grown feverfew except for this house that we are renting. I have catnip on my list for when we buy our house next month based on what you have said about it. I used to grow it all the time when we last owned a home for my cats to roll around in lol. I am struggling to find a moringa tree so I may have to buy it processed and dried already which is not what I would normally do. I would rather grow and dehydrate and powder it myself. Once I start growing again I will give some catnip and the other things you mentioned in coconut oil to my little dog, he is getting old now and has arthritis and going deaf and blind which is confusing him. I would just like to ease his pain if nothing else. Take care Heidi. Michelle
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 7 лет назад
I do not have a moringa yet either, I am thinking I will have to grow it indoors or in the greenhouse. I highly doubt it would do well outside in this climate. I agree though, would MUCH rather have my herbs come from my own garden. Trying ashwaganda this year, so far, most of it is growing fine but we will see how it does. I have tried growing both turmeric and ginger on at least a couple of occasions, but neither want to grow for me. :(
@bohemiangypsy99
@bohemiangypsy99 7 лет назад
Ashawagandha sounds like a wonderful one to have in your arsenal. Don't worry tumeric and ginger don't want to play nice with me either. I am going to try again when we get the food forest going in our new home. Hopefully the canopy will protect them both this time around and I'm also hoping that the canopy can protect the moringa too. Our summers here in Australia are damn brutal to say the least. Where we live the winters are also bad but at least we don't get snow in our town but about ninety kilometres away they do lol.

@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 5 лет назад
I do not think I could give you any one herb that can "cure" cancer though many can be helpful in attacking the overgrowth and detoxifying. The best thing I can say is get him off all processed sugar, get plenty of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables and plenty of clean water (not city tap water). Herbal teas of various kinds can be helpful in flushing out toxins and healing the body such as stinging nettle, peppermint, turmeric, garlic, dandelion, and cilantro are some that can be considered. I also recommend adding oregano to as many meals as possible but many such culinary herbs can be helpful as well. Please keep in mind, I am not a doctor nor a licensed naturopath so I am just throwing out some ideas that can be helpful for pretty much anyone with any ailment.

I ordered from this company by mistake, I thought it was from you and placed the order, my bad. It smells about like most herbs smells to me. Like tea and a hint of black pepper. Is there any other way I can tell if it is really comfrey? Thanks in advance. Be blessed.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 4 года назад
Yeah, I only sell herb seeds but not dried herbs. It does smell like all other herbs so it would be difficult to tell whether or not is is truly comfrey. Depending on how small the flakes are, texture and thickness may be able to help to see if it is comfrey or not but even that is similar to certain other herbs.

Do you have any tips for deadheading and keeping this plant going for as long as possible during the summer? I am nurturing a volunteer patch of this for my bumble bees, and I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to dead head it to keep the flowers coming. I've noticed that sometimes new flower heads come out of the old heads and I accidentally cut them off 😢. Blooms have such a crazy turnover, I'm having trouble keeping up!

Below quote taken from this article: www.livestrong.com/article/462446-red-clover-vs-white-clover/ "Herbalists revere red clover for several purported health benefits, including detoxification, decongestion and reducing inflammation. Red clover is also considered a rich source of isoflavones, an antioxidant associated in some studies with combating certain types of cancer, including breast cancer and prostate cancer. The isoflavones in red clover have also been found beneficial in reducing bone loss and menopausal symptoms in healthy women. White clover has not been found to possess the same constituents or health benefits. Remember that no herbs have been FDA-approved for medical use and you should always consult with your doctor before taking red clover tea for any health-related purpose. All clovers, including white, possess some amount of vitamins A, E, C, B-2, and B-3, calcium, chromium, lecithin, magnesium, potassium and silicium."

From what I understand, there are no real trials done on its effect on pregnancy but they suspect it may be unsafe so best to avoid it during that time

Rain Country but I got evening primrose this year, thankfully I oly pulled one and let the other 4 grow. I think I read their roots are edible, so their 2 years are up and I think I will try.

I got tinitus as soon as I lost my period. I am not sure if menopauze can cause tinitus, but I am going to try red cover tea for a month to see if it works for my problem.
