Floyd "Red Crow" Westerman bids farewell to this world and sends a special greeting to his Irish friends. American Indian Movement "Minister of Culture" passes into the spirit world.
If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine. A quote from a fantasy character in Star Wars, but so apt. Spirts gain is our loss, but we thank you for your continuing love in the Great Plains where all true souls are happy!
I am Irish & I send love to the Native people of this land. I apologize for my ancestors. I would also like to send love and apology to the African Americans whom my ancestors may have hurt yours. We are ALL relatives. I genuinely hope that WE can build a bright , sustainable & peaceful future together.
Rest in peace Grandfather. May your great wisdom and spirit pass onto the youth of all nations, so one day we will all live together and love one another as family
I'm so glad that they could not crash your spirit, no matter how hard they have tried, with their dark hearts and greed and blind faith. Respect to the Irish leader for his apology
Listened to this man for the first time. When he recited the blessing I found tears rolling down my face. People need to stop spouting their own bloody minded personal stuff and really listen to the deeper meaning. It doesn't matter what piece of land you come from, it's all land and it's dying and along with it , so are we. He is a man of true peace who does not wish harm to anyone. We need to start listening instead of everyone yelling to be heard. Let's face it, we're all tired. Let's start waking up.
How very true. The ego is a dangerous thing. We need to go within and connect with our soul and listen to God. Meditation is the way. It's not easy to learn to meditate because in this world we live we are bombarded by so many things. But practice makes perfect. It won't harm to try. 💫💫💫
Agree, The Earth is deteriorating. Even in outer space it is now so polluted, NASA are at their wits end how to clean it. The Native Indian say, the beginning of the end of The World is when we see birds nesting on the ground.
Yes He Does! We all live among Warring Peoples, I pray it is not so, but unfortunately it is! I pray the First Nation Peoples will survive this, but, beware who you Side with, I pray you see the Buffalo Hunting Grounds You once knew, and the Peacefulness you also knew and lived in!! Life be with you on this and on the Great Fathers Land!! ☮️☮️☮️💟❤️❤️!!
Oh, Great Spirit who dwells in the sky, Lead us to the path of peace and understanding. Let all of us live together as brothers and sisters. Our lives are so short here, Walking upon Mother Earth's surface. Let our eyes be opened to all the blessings you have given us. Please hear my prayers, Oh, Great Spirit. R.I.P. RED CROW.
As a muslim I see in this prayer a similarity to our prayer and the first chapter in the quran, here it is: Surah Al-Fatiha In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful (1) Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, (2) The Beneficent, the Merciful. (3) Owner of the Day of Judgment, (4) Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. (5) Show us the straight path, (6) The path of those whom Thou hast favoured. Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray. (7)
To all you religious cult members don't compare Native American prayers to your religion of hate and death. This really means you catholics/christians who came out with the doctrine of discovery. Don't know what that is Google it. The god of the bible said it was ok to colonize my Native ancestors and enslave my African ancestors. Religion has no place in the majority of Native homes. Keep your cult beliefs to yourself, this video is not about you so stop making it so.
@@kateblackwell2135 hi Kate and so am I. my grandparents came from Ireland and settled in Greenock Scotland. the were Gallagher/Cochrane. one of my aunties married Bernard Blackwell and they had 5 boys. Be at Peace, Red Crow. May your spirit fly with the eagles and your wisdom continue to inspire and educate that we may become what we were meant to be...one nation, one people, one world
Out of respect to all of the first Americans, I love your wisdom and your love for nature. In saying this, I have always had the utmost respect for all American Indians. To me and many Americans, I feel most love and are proud of the power of American Indians. I have to agree totally with family values totally. Your a great man.
O dear, it's very hard for me to listen your speech but then it's hard not to listen. I found myself speechless standing still in front of your face. What a wise man. May your soul be blessed by love. In the name of love forgive us all who are coming to your home without asking your permission.
Someday we will be one , all people, when corporate greed dies, we can do all that is needed , and live in peace and quite, with only our families to work for , happy in the natural way.. Peace be with u brother ! .Mike IRELAND
When corporate greed dies? Oh, you mean when we're all living in foolish poverty like the Lakota. You mean when everyone is as stupid, as foolish, as ignorant as you and the idiot in this video? If we ever become one people it will be when Native Americans stop talking bullshit, stop acting like childish, superstitious fools, stop blaming the white man for something that had to be done, get off their lazy asses, and join the twenty-first century.
I raelly would like Red Crow for grandfather or teacher. Every thing he said just brings balance and peace in my mind and soul. Thank you Red Crow . Thanks to people who have recorded and conveyed this wisdom.
what a wise and great human being, the great RED CROW.our country ,this AMERICA ,need more such people as you mighty warrior.may the great spirit comfort you always.R.I.P.
"WADO"----CHEROKEE]----FOR THANK YOU. "RED-CROW" for your vast educated mind, and for all of your wonderful ways. May "CREATOR"---Hold you in the palms of "HIS" hands!!!
I'm an Irish-American, and as such, I deeply appreciate Red Crow's acknowledgment of the spiritual bond that exists between his people and mine. Besides sharing a history of tyranny and oppression, both races have a mystical, psychic sensibility at their core, and this is acknowledged here. I do believe that what he said is true about the United States. It will disappear and is already in decline. The rape of the land and the denial of Spirit engendered by a culture that fosters materialism and temporal power over the natural world is signing its own eventual death warrant. To be cut off from Nature is to be cut off from one's own soul. Abe Lincoln, a deeply mystical man himself, said that the U.S. would not die of outside invasion, but from suicide. It's happening already. Look at the news. And when it disappears, the Native American culture and spirit will survive - as was prophesied. I just hope when it happens, the land is not so polluted, developed, and violated that it can't be recovered.
DivineSimply Nature can do insane things. if people were no longer in America it would grow back and retake what we destroyed. the difficulty would be with things such as nuclear power plants and factories which may have terrible effects on the environment for years after they go and last for a longer time. Earth is strong, just people destroy for selfishness.
I am Irish and Native (Shawnee/Cherokee.) Red Crow's message to the Irish was a blessing to receive. I have always felt like there was a special kind of teaching for those of us who share this type of bloodline, as the darkness reveals the light. Thanks for the post!
I feel both blessed and ashamed. Blessed because my family line is both Irish and Lakota. I feel ashamed because it took me ten years to finally see this beautiful message from Red Crow. He is sorely missed. And the things he relayed are ever more clear as the days progress. Céad míle buíochas a ghabháil leat agat, agus wopila tanka, Red Crow.
comon sence would be for us people to vote great spirits and great man like him be presidents of all those great and powerful nations. I bet this world would be something beyond beautiful to live in.
This wonderful man is someone I am proud to call my great great uncle. My grandfather took me to meet him when I was about 7. He was as excited to meet me as I was to meet him. We went to the same boarding school. Our views are all the same. I feel his spirit continuing to strive and thrive through my own. I love you, uncle. I can’t wait to truly unify the world, where it’s always been meant to be. Everything hidden will come to light, and we can move forward beyond anything we can even imagine. I love you all who happen to read this, I send you many blessings, but know that with blessings, come lessons, all for our greater good. I love you all, Great Ones.
@@nachobusiness2050 American Indian is, I believe, the prefered term. I know that's a bit counterintuitive but that's what they prefer. Native American is too inclusive. Think about it. The "American" part in Native American refers to two continents with vast differences in culture, language, tradition etc. It would be like saying "He's a native Eurasian." That would be so vague a description that it would be silly. A native Eurasian could be Vietnamese or French or anywhere in between. But in my experience, Indians aren't excessively sensitive and I'm sure they understand the intention and sentiment behind "real American". Also, I'm not an Indian so, I'm not an authority on the subject. It would be better to ask an American Indian.
@@SeekTheCross no sir the whites were never american to begin with when they traveled the Atlantic. A Real AMERICAN is brown, tan, light skin, red, black. The REAL human beings of this planet
Beautiful radiant kindness & wisdom. Thank you for the blessing . We all need it as we struggle to follow the truth and good red road while under siege of ignorance & evil. Brings tears. May we all learn the right way to live & honor creation.
what a beautiful, beautiful culture. I wish we were living as they lived before the bandits came and stole their land. we would not be in such big trouble as we are today.such wisdom from this lovely man, he is missed.
+Brian Collins What do you know about being romantic.., and, what do you know about reality...?? Judging by your comment your reality - not appealing enough to mention. Better shut up and listen.
I am so glad that people of diverse ethnicities are showing respect to this elder. He had deep and profound wisdom that he was willing to share with the world. I'm also extremely happy no one is attacking the Irish president for apologizing for the the Lakota/Dakota peoples for what many atrocities many Irish immigrants did to the Natives by serving as soldiers in the US Army during the Westward Expansion. So many wrongly view apologies as signs of weakness when in fact it takes courage to do so when it is necessary. It is often the first step towards reconciliation, healing and lasting peace. There's absolutely nothing weak about it. Its also gracious to accept it as well if sincere.
Good teaching on the family. My family has the same value. We take care of each other. We honor those from the oldest to youngest. We hold the line no matter what the world says are does. God bless you Mr Red
That song at the end was powerful and beautiful . I feel like it took me back to how it used to be and how our ancestors had everything... so perfect, peaceful and most of all mysterious. I could just imagine our ancestors sitting around a fire in the moonlight talking about whatever it is they would talk about back then, pointing at the stars and knowing that everything is all apart of one big thing. A beautiful thing. the way it is and always will be.
As a child growing up in Cleveland, Ohio in the 60’s and 70’s I became aware of and gained an eternal respect for the Native Americans and their struggle because my mother would drive car loads of donated food downtown to the American Indian Center in Cleveland and she supported AIM. I remember my mother taking us along in a station wagon loaded with canned goods, etc. and we would help unload the donations at the center. To this day I hold utmost respect for all the original ancestors of this land and their generations and I thank my mother for opening my mind and heart to your struggles. Peace, happiness, and long life to you all....forever.
Tiocfaidh Ar La and Fi Godwin Ni Eto (from Wales) Our people no longer have elders like this, especially the Welsh, we are a culture hollowed out, our oral traditions lost. We need another Red Crow.

They can erase our knowledge, they can suppress our history, but they cannot change the spirit, we may not understand the urges our spirit possess, but if we allow ourselves, we will find the natural course. The enlightened age will rise up of a tribe of Many Colors, a Rainbow Tribe, true in Natural Spirit👍 peace and love to all that read this comment👍
Red Crow, please guide your people from beyond the grave, and imbue them with the desire to confide in the four directions and love their creator with intensity! So many lost and in despair, guide them to their source of Spirit! John Trudell: "civilization is a lie", no one can identify with it, not even the "civilized"!!! Thank you!
The native Indians have the most wonderful soul. I would be as mad as hell but this man is so generous in his way of talking and thinking. I shed a tear as he spoke.
My spirit drank in all his words, filled with much love and wisdom. It's hard to believe he left this earth not long ago, yet I feel he is with us with great love. Rest in peace grandfather Red Crow. 🙏🏻💖🌎🌼✨
Red Crow you are a holy man your right when you addressed loneliness I see families gather in large numbers but seem lonely that's the sad thing I see everyday here in L.A.
