Yeah. In general "aim for the head" is purely a video game thing, and even then only a "video games that don't much care about realism" thing. In real life shooting for the head is a terrible idea - you want to aim for center of mass instead. Given that RDR2 is going pretty hard for realism when it comes to hunting, you probably don't want to go for headshots.

@@kennandunn7533: Right. Plus, yeah, a rifle will do it, but a pistol? Maybe not. Arrow? Again, maybe not. Turns out skulls are actually remarkably good defensive measures. Center mass shooting is not only an easier shot, but it also allows a shot at plenty of vital organs without a thick bone plate getting in the way.

Not to mention the low velocity round big bullet pistol caliber rifles of the day might already be dropping off a tad at 50 yards

Vital is small on head, deer brains aren't big, hitting anywhere else, deer or prey will live long enough to run hundreds of yards. Even if you used a stringed arrow, you will have lost your prey. Neck is another possible kill shot, hit the spine and deer will be paralyzed, again the vital is small and impossible to hit past 15 yards for averge softball sized grouping shooter. I agree with previous commenter that center of mass, especially at broadside, gives you most reliable shot at something vital, and you'll only have to chase them bout 50 yards. But neck, and head means you get more meat, and don't damage the pelt, homesteaders far from civilization often shoot the head, to save meat from exiting bullet wounds. And arrows can penatrate deer skull easily at 40 yards, look up Fred Bear, or the red hat chronicals, Any case, love this game.

Well this is a game a shooting things in the face often works...Jon is a guy from the city, not some person who lives in a rural area that knows that a bears skull is tough enough to shrug off a arrow.

@@koreyosborne1292 Depends. 80 pounds on a composite bow is only 16 pound hold weight while 80 pounds on a recurve or longbow is still 80 pounds hold weight which is why most people hunt with a composite bow.

Not just the fingers, but the muscles get fatigued real quick trying to hold heavier bows. I doubt the hunting bow he used would have been more than 50-60 lbs draw, though, which is what typical hunting bows today are. No need to use 120 lb longbows for hunting deer. They don't wear plate armor.

@@yordlejay6820 Yeah. If you find weird phrases written around the game world then you can type it in to active a cheat code. They did the same in RDR like one was in Armadillo and another in Tumbleweed

Check a law book, that's where a better argument against this is. Specifically that knowing someone is in danger doesn't strictly speaking mean you have to help them. Though I'd argue he's responsible because he wouldn't have been in that situation without him chasing him, but that is hard to prove. All I'm saying is, that man fell because Jon decided he wanted him to and he was entirely capable of preventing it.

They were hunting for food not pelts, and a small hole in a pelt isn't that much of a deal breaker, they're quite easy to hide or work around.

Jack in terms of the game, if you noticed, you need perfect kills to get alot of the stuff for the camp, so yeah. Ik it was just for meat then but them completionists gonna have a tough time
