juanisabastard I wasn’t that complicated, i used the “canon” arthur a brute who only cared about money at the beginning and would not move a finger for anyone that had nothing to do with the band or made him remember something from a long time ago but after tb I became a good boah he just wanted to bring a little happiness not just to those around him but to those who caused no harm to someone else and weapons I used the cattleman and the scholfield because he already had the cattleman and got the scholfield as a mission ( i mainly used revolvers ) i used the lancaster after micah found it on that mission and the double barrel shotgun found on the odriscol settlement and for jhon he wanted to have a low profile so I behaved like a good boy all the time used his cattleman as the main weapon and arthur’s as a secondary had a regular carabine and never saw him using a shotgun so I didn’t
After I finished the game I did exactly that but the sad part is, is that you already know what’s gonna happen. You can’t live that first experience again and have it be the same. I played the game the first time without sound, because my mom was always around and she doesn’t like games that have guns. After i restarted the game, I realized I messed up my first experience by not playing it with sound and I really regret it. You can never live first experiences ever again, and if I had one wish, it would be to live any first experience again. Because this game, was absolutely amazing and I really wish they come out with another one, maybe like Arthur’s younger life or something. If they make a Red Dead Redemption 3, I want it to be from Arthur’s perspective, because I want to live as Arthur again and share his memories, even if they aren’t real. I want to be able to live my second life as him because he is such an amazing character and if the perspective changes, it would be really sad for me because Arthur is such an in-depth character and it would be fantastic if I could know more about his younger life with the gang.
I hope Rockstar treats the Red Dead universe like Dutch treats his plans. JUST ONE MORE BIG GAME! WE JUST NEED THE ACTORS! WRITERS AND SOME GOD DAMN FAITH!
I would kill to see Roger Clark play through RDR2 as a series on youtube. The in depth stories he could tell as he goes through would be really fascinating!
RDR2 is for sure better, but RDR1 was way ahead of its time and also an absolute masterpiece. You HAVE to play the first game if you haven’t.. no question
"Voices is not what we were doing, it's performance capture" and yet, rather moronically, the uploader of this video still said they were just voices in the title...
My name is Steven and I just wanted to say y'all did a damn good job. I've not stopped playing it scents the day I got it. My daughter even loves it. Rockstar really knows how to get you hooked on one character like Arthur and John Marston. I as a man cryed like a baby when they both died. Like i said y'all did a really good job.
@@Desperado-mg1iy Rockstar are in a league of their own. Their games have better stories and characters than most films, and the way they immerse you into the experience is unlike any game I have ever experienced. In most games I'm playing as the main character, but in RDR2, I was the main character. I'm on my 4th playthrough right now, and the game still manages to amaze me all the time.
I think that game voice performers are the most amazing to me more then film actors, I get more emotional watching a game then I do a film, It must be so hard to portray your emotions through your voice without showing your face, To make someone cry through your voice is a gift
bruceyboysvideos I get the general vibe that he had to take a break for a bit. Which yeah, after 85,000 lines of dialogue and hours of performance capture I can imagine it took its toll.
Lost User I think he probably had to take a break when doing Arthur’s voice during the development and when it was done I’m sure he was like “thank god I can do my voice”
DChief94 I notice that to but with 85,000 lines and you have to put a country accent in and cough a lot could put a little strain but roger still did great
Mr. Black here I am minding my own business in a random RU-vid hole of my mishmash of interests, then I read this comment and in my head Johns doing a bad impression of Jerry Lewis. I let out a HAH that probably woke my neighbors up.
He already has gone far. That’s why he appreciates RDR2 so much. He knows it’s a masterpiece and made him a household name in an entire community of people’s lives across the world.
Just finished this game. Never have I felt so emotionally attached to a player like Arthur Morgan. Hands down the best game to date. I’ve felt so close that I actually feel mad at Rockstar for (SPOILER) ending his character. I’ve signed that petition where people want rockstar to release some sort of DLC or alternative to his character. He deserved so much better. “I gave you all I had” damn...
by the way I just found out that the exact same scene is actually Arthur's actor favorite moment as well... check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DcqLWrlJLzA.html (the timecode is 24:17)
I didn’t feel nothing but I so wanted to. :( It’s really weird. I cried like a baby in RDR’s ending. I love Arthur though! I guess my life isn’t as innocent like it was in 2010.
@@Veroxzes tbh i didn't cried at RDR1 ending because of it's violence and "epicness" (walkin out of the barn you know) I felt more surprised and angry (and Killing agent Ross was such a good ending) but yeah, RDR1, never cried...
I disagree with this. Arthur's death was an integral part of the story. A story that I and so many others loved. A story that inspired many. Arthur went out on top. He tells John that it would mean a lot to him if John left and saved himself while Arthur stayed and fought. It's what Arthur wanted at that moment to redeem himself of some of his past actions and to be at peace. When crawling away from Micah, he says, "...it turns out I've won." Without him dying in that fashion, it would be a completely different story. The entire game was great, but the ending made it so much more meaningful and unforgettable to me.
@@scorpionic3599 I wouldn't say god of war is shit. It's a really good game but I wished that red dead redemption two won but still, god of war isn't shit.
59:24 Colorized footage of Dutch Van Der Linde giving one of his famous speeches as his right-hand man, Arhtur Morgan, nods in the background. Circa 1899.
SPOILERS: I think Arthur Morgan was the best Protagonist out of any game Rockstar has ever made! I never actually felt real emotion from a video game like I did when playing RDR2... nearing the end of the game and the songs they chose when you’d be riding back to camp or out to meet someone. Arthur’s Horse dying, Arthur dying... man I love that game.
LJ not only was Arthur the greatest Rockstar protagonists (and one of the greatest protagonists in Video Game history) but Micah Bell doesn’t get enough credit as probably the best antagonist in Rockstar’s history. I mean the performance by Bloomquist and just his writing, narrative, character, and hell even his voice pissed you off. Very rarely can a character get a consumer to exude such hate.
While I think that yes, having that would've been amazing, I feel like Rockstar shipped it the way it is in the game to highlight the strength of they loyalty bond Dutch inspires in his gang, when they back him up in that same scene. Had Dutch done that circling move, it would have looked threatening, sure, but it would also mean (or sell the image) that he doesn't need the gang to be a badass which would actually feel kind of wrong, because Dutch's strength IS the gang. And as you can see in the story, when Dutch starts losing his gang either literally or only their loyalty, is when he gets weak and things start going to hell.
@@gergopiroska5749 idk man, seems like a blessing. Like a part of him would still be here. Just how people still look at pictures with dead relatives... You don't forget someone who has had a big part in your life because they die...
Benjamin Byron Davis subtly explained the difference between 'just voice acting' and performance capture... with voice acting you can just read off lines, performance capture is more in line with real acting, memorizing lines, physicality... different ballgame. Just another layer of respect for the game and Rockstar for finding these amazing performers.
you remind me of a feller i used to know Just minding my own business don't want no trouble not a bad town you got here that's a fine horse you got there i just love this game so much
I’m head over heels in love with RDR2, hands down favourite game of all time, currently on my 3rd play through and I’m still uncovering things I never came across before, it’s just unreal how detailed and how massive the game is, I must’ve put at least 150+ hours into it and I still can’t wait to get home from work and keep going. A masterpiece, I’m not sure any other game will ever be able to beat it, maybe if they do RDR3. Which I really hope they do.
I just wish the eating system was better. Still not sure how I should eat to stay perfect. And it’s a pain having to go into the pause menu to see your stats.
I *LOVE* this game! I'm on my 5th playthrough, I can ride the same roads over and over again, the atmosphere is always going to be great. It brings a tear to my eyes everytime I play it.
These two have godly voices, I could listen to them talk all day. It's crazy to see them talk as their selves and how different they managed to make the characters personalities in the game. So much talent.
One of my favorite lines in the game is the early quest with Rev. Swanson and Arthur: 'Arthur! I followed your advice!' 'Then your god truly has forsaken you.' I'm glad Roger and Ben talked about how great a character he was.
It's so eerie as well how much the actual actors have similar body language and personality to the characters they play. That's just great casting work. Benjamin is right. It's not just the voice. It's the entire performance.
At the very end of this video when Ben discusses his thoughts on Dutch and Arthur on the cliff. That gives me sort of a little closure that I didn’t get in the game. It hurt so much to lose Arthur but it was also salt in the wound when Dutch turned his back on him.
They thought it was gonna be on California, but it ended up being in NY, and it lasted for five years. _"After five years on the east coast, it was time to go home."_
I love how Ben and Roger are just so into the franchise and really love the games. I feel like there's actors out there who just do a job to do a job and don't really enjoy or respect the material they're involved in. I feel like the performance capture, in general, gets the actors so much more involved in the story, never mind the fact there is just so much more footage than movies would have.
I mean it’s quite clear that she had piss poor questions for a question panel that she had to be well aware of for at least a week, along with the entire time the audience was asking questions she showed no interest in any of the responses except for a couple of the political correct ones, like let’s be honest to the fullest extent she’s heard about the game seen the game but for sure hasn’t played it all of her body languages says so.
you’re telling me... that if not for a worker at gamestop, Roger Clark may have not played Arthur Morgan? Props to that gamestop employee, I hope he gets a promotion, or if gamestop employee isn’t what he aspires to be, gets the job of his dreams.
37:19 That is exactly the message I got from the game so it was nice to hear it from Roger himself. Arthur realized his fate & it made him morally confront himself. In chapter 6 he was really reflective on his past actions, & realized the dishonorable way that he beat a sick man. If he would not have beaten Mr. Downs for money he would not have contracted TB. & in the end, Micah beat up Arthur (a sick man) on the mountaintop. It seemed like karma to me. But I got the good ending where Arthur died on the mountaintop watching the Sunrise.
21:39 "why the hell would i wanna do that?" i both agree with and love Benjamin Byron Davis answer to that question i think everyone in both games where cast perfectly for their roles...
Their voices are freaking amazing, so unique and so pleasing. Great job, you two (And all of them really), bringing the cast to life with your voices and motion performances.
I feel like most people daydream of being a famous actor, or musician, or artist, but I find myself daydreaming about being able to work with such awesome people as the cast of RDR.
Exactly, whenever Ben was discussing how the crew got together during Jack's return party and sang and danced almost made me cry...that moment will forever be preserved in the game
Love these 2 guys man . I'm kind of a picky person when it comes to youtube but in my life this was probably like one of favourite videos I watched and probably one of the only videos I've watched straight through for a whole hour . I'm not a big fan when it comes to 1 hour videos especially interviews . But man an hour flew by so fast and it's 2:20 in the morning and man was this awesome too watch . Too bad Rob wasn't on here but still these 2 are Iconic . ( besides from Red Dead Redemption ) these guys are underated . Very underated .
I love how there is a part in the game where John Marston holds the shotgun in the barn in the same exact pose as the game cover of RDR1. They even used the same camera angle
@@kique4537 it’s in the epilogue part 1. Mission called “Jim Milton Rides Again?” In this mission the riders from the Laramie Gang attack the ranch in the middle of the night, John defends it and chases them down to the barn where he is attacked by their leader. It is when you kill him here that he does that famous pose in the RDR1 game cover
Never have I ever got goosebumps hearing the actors behind the voices of any character. But this here is something else. I've finished RDR2 feeling close to having *lived* Arthur's life. It was an experience that went way beyond gaming and storytelling. Seeing and hearing these guys is a punch in the gut. Awesome, awesome job!
You two are the greatest video game characters ever. Pure amazing! When Authors horse goes down is what got me. The final moments between author and his horse is heartbreaking
This game is so amazing, im on my 2nd playthrough, started in february and taking it real slow to soak it all in and still finding new stuff, it is incredible
"You guys were Arthur just as much as I was, if not, even more!!" Bro you're literally thee Arthur Morgan flaws and all thee FENTON!! Thee Arthur Callahan. The raw, living, and breathing Arthur Morgan believes that we're more of an Arthur Morgan than he was made me feel special and all but, YOUUUU SIR IS THE BIG MAN TING FLESH AMD.BLOOD ARTHUR MORGAN.
I love how the actors know so much about both the games like how Benjamin mentioned Nastass from RDR1 and I found it amazing that Roger actually played the first game before he ever new he would get the job for 2
Somehow, the fly-swatting at 13:16 is so much like Arthur, the fact that they did the mo-cap shines through and those little details are what make RDR2 such a masterpiece.
I don't know why but... I always love the way Arthur says, "Sure". I knew the voice actor was from somewhere... different. I couldn't place it... I thought maybe cajun, or lived in Canada for a while; I never would have guessed half American half Irish... but it fits. And I could listen to Dutch talk all day long. Like most people, I was ready to "keep it together" and follow Dutch to the ends of the earth. I never played the first RDR, so this was my first exposure to Dutch, but I absolutely love his character... and everyone seems to play off of Ben so well (Roger too), it's just magical.
The way Roger shakes his head (1:53) when the woman says they're the voices of the characters, you can tell that actually upsets him. He's also pressing his lips against each other after she introduces him.
Noshir Dalal yeah Charles Smith was one of my favourite characters i loved him he was a great character and i liked his Native Warrior personality about him
this is so freakin cool also its so epic that Benjamin Byron Davis aka Dutch.. that is just his normal voice..... that rocks... also its nice to hear Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan) real voice and awesome to know he loved the first red redemption as much as we did!
Great work from these actors, I hope audiences become more respectful and refrain from asking them to do lines or scenes on demand. But the rest of the Q&A was quite informative.
Mr. Byron's voice was a product of divine intervention, I've never heard a voice so incredibly smooth, but also gravelly, elegant and imponent. Roger's voice is also really good, just amazing voice actors and actors overall, in that department there are few that do it as well as Rockstar.
On my first play through I was so distraught when I realized Arthur was going to die. I had pre-ordered and played without watching endings on RU-vid, so I had no idea. It took awhile to get used to playing as John, I was mad at Rockstar for a bit for not giving us the three ending option like in GTA 5, LOL! If they had, well...sorry John, but Abigail would have become a Morgan. ;)
Nunya yeah I googled something for my dad because he wanted to know when he could get a new horse and I didn’t finish it yet and all I saw was “when does Arthur get sick” I mainly thought it was just a cold or something, I didn’t forget about it the whole time but I never once watched any videos about the story
It's funny. On my second and third play through's I found myself wanting to change the ending. I was like... With all of the history these two have, they just need to have a real, hard talk. And they could have worked it out. THAT is how good this game is. It had me, knowing the ending was unavoidable, but pondering the alternative. That is how you know a game/story/etc... connected with you. Great job by so many performers and game artists.
It took me awhile to play (I bought for xmas for my family) cause I was like " what!? you dont play as john??" so four months passed, four months of watching my step dad and sister play until I decide I'd give the game a shot... I play everyday and I can't believe that I actually doubted the game. I can't believe that I refused to play it and it took me this long to play it. Its the best game I ever bought and hopefully they turn it into a gta sort of saga, Id buy them all 👍
You aren't the only one. I had to convince tell my friend that you eventually get to play the entire game as John before he signed on. Well that and lots of clips from the crazy things that happened to me in my game out of context to not spoil.
I’ve played this game through twice now, once with bad honor once with good honor and I just can’t believe how amazing it is. Best storytelling in any game ever no competition. They better make another game with these characters because I think we all fell in love. If they won’t do that they should atleast give us a game where you play as jack after all the events of the first game and he gets his own story.
Bad Idea. It would take away the endgame open world. The thing about the blackwatrr massacre is that we know nothing about it. We don't need another prequel, the story of the Van der Linde gang is over and we need either a new gang or just nothing at all.
