I remember thinking after watching the first trailer for RDR2 “there’s no way they could make a character that is anywhere near as remarkable as John Marston” and now I think Arthur Morgan is one of the most well written characters in Video Game History

I love how even Kieran brings out his gun. He was mistreated so badly yet still stood up for the gang. Wish he got more of a chance to be good.

4:35 this is the moment my hate for Dutch went sky high. When they were talk of hanging Micah at Strawberry, he sent Arthur to rescue that rat but when they were talking of hanging John, this is how he responds.

The pain in Auther’s voice when Archie does say “thank you” hurts so much to hear. He truly did suffer from what he did to that family. The emotional toll was clearly what weighed on him the most.

8:20 this whole conversation is legendary. I feel like it's Arthur's lowest point of villainy and after this moment, he slowly but inevitably comes to realize how cold the world and the actions he commits actually are, culminating in him seeking redemption for his actions in the end.

Arthur helping out Mrs. Downes at the end is one of my favorite moments in the game. That’s a man that truly and deeply regrets what he did to them.

Honorable mention to John's conversation with Rains Fall at the Annesburg train station in the Epilogue. One of my personal favorites actually. It broke me knowing what Rains Fall had suffered through with the death of his son after Eagle Flies had been simply used as a pawn in one of Dutch's "plans" and his tribe being pushed north to Canada to seek refuge from the US government 😥

With dialogue like this, the writers can literally make a novel.

Hearing Arthur, a hardened gunslinger who’s shown so much bravery and courage for the ones he holds close say “I’m afraid” is gut wrenching. He is by far the best character written in gaming history, at least to me.

I like it when Lenny says “ There will be a party when you die” to Micah. It is also foreshadowing because John marries Abigail after that.

That “I’m afraid” line makes me tear up every time I hear it. Rodger Clark is so good at what he does.

19:37 That pause and then that delivery... I remember when I played that part in the game and it broke something inside. That's his honest feelings that he's had for a little while and he didn't know who to say it to and he may not believe in anything at that point in the story (no person or religion) but asked someone who had beliefs and hope and asked for help...

"Im afraid" Knowing death is coming his way but he only wanted enough time to make his life worth doing something for and making it right, i honestly find this as one of the most saddening parts.

My favorite line in the whole game is the conversation with the old Native American man. "people don't change, they become more themselves." It's so true and I think an incredibly underrated moment in the game.

Roger Clark was incredible in this role. He really did a great job of making his words feel like actual off-the-cuff dialogue, not like pre-written lines.

man, this game is such a mindfuck, we hate Milton, even though, when it comes down to it, he is actually the good guy in this story.

I love the parallels between chpt 2 and 6, Micah was inprisoned and went through "talks of hanging", Dutch sent for his rescue, but when John was in the same perdicament he had a "goddamn plan". It truly amazes me how they created such a gradual, seamless and amazing arc for a character.

For me, it was in the mission when Sean gets shot, like who doesn't remember: "Wait a minute something ain't right" "Something ain't right? I could'a told ya-" *proceeds to get his head half blown off*

This whole game is an art masterpiece. Like those books or movies you wanna repeat over and over and you don't get tire of it, you just still enjoy it and feel like the first time.

Does the “thank you” with Arthur’s horse count because it totally should

At 2:26 Kieren has his gun out. I think it’s crazy that after all they’ve done to him he’s still so quick to defend them. They really gave him a new family and a second chance.

I love it when otherwise hard hearted characters show their vulnerability. “He was a good man, my Jakey.” Is a kick to the stomach every time.

The fishing trip with Arthur, Hosea, and Dutch was memorable for me because it was literally the last pleasant time that the original three ever had

I like how during the I insist conversation as Dutch says “nobody is going to die” he is cut off by a small cough from Arthur

Sister Caldèron is the most wholesome character in this game, not because she's a nun or whatever but because she is genuienely intelligent. She knows what's right and tells Arthur to do a loving act. I really like her, she's very well written

6:25 Where’s “I wish things were different, but it weren’t us who changed”

I like the dialog in the fishing mission with Arthur, Dutch and Hosea. it is really sad because it is pretty much the last time the three of them actually had fun together before stuff started going to shit.

That moment when Dutch repeats '' John'' and' '' insist '' only for Arthur to stand his ground, made him realize that he is not going to be able to manipulate him anymore. He's free to make his own mind and I think at that point Dutch knew he lost control of the gang

My personal favorite is when you save Sean. "Nothing means more to me than this gang, the bonds we share. I'd kill for it rob for it, heck I'd happily die for it. Despite all that, I would've left you here to rot if Charles didn't stop me." Or something like that.

The face that Arthur does when he says that he's afraid always broke my heart...

I'm so happy Sadie & Charles got a happy ending. By the end of Arthur's part of the story, those two plus John felt like the saving grace of the gang. I wish those four had more missions together. By the time I got to the epilogue, I was so happy Charles & Sadie were in it so much.

"And there's always a god DAMN train!" That line always makes me crack up. Seriously there are so many train robberies.

After playing the sequel, I felt emotional when Dutch saying "I have a plan" to John. It shows how lost he is after the events of Hosea and Arthur's death. The writing for this game is incredible and mad respect for Rockstar.

I really love the compassion with which Arthur asks Sadie “You okay?”. He understands it all. And their relationship are honest and pure till the end. I cry every time when I see this scene. It’s so deep.

I got chills on my spine when Arthur has that conversation with Mrs. Downes. So cold as he can/must be...
