Three young foxes I encountered and had the time to film during sunrise. Awesome to see what their barking noise sounds like. Thought I would share ! Thanks for watching. Twitter : / nomadicwoodsman
Yes, it's KINDA like barking sound I'm searching for, but ... I live in the suburbs, just on the boundary line between the city of Huntington & county of Cabell, here in western West Virginia. Whilst smoking the proverbial day's last cigarette, about 4 AM or thereabouts, my flashlight startled a night critter, prancing along the snowy yard, at roadside, across the street. He scurried away quickly, same direction as headed & w/o making a sound. His movements were smooth & fast. Before I could even finished the one cigarette, I heard -- "YAP! YAP, YAP!"-YAPPING, as I often hear from my neighbors small dogs. Fearing they might have found themselves in danger, I shined my flashlight around, but did't see anything. Then, more "YAP! YAP-YAPPING" -- but, this time, sounding as if BEHIND the houses across the street. THEN, suddenly, there he was -- RACING DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, ""YAP!" ... "YAP, YAP"... YAPPING occasionally, as he raced away. All I could see was a light-haired, fluffy-tailed, dog-sized critter. And that's how I came to be HERE. Thanks for reading.
@@IMADINOSAURNOTABIRD 'hardly ever' is not never, and considering their disposition when they feel threatened, best to just assume they have it, & stay away
I know I was so surprised to see them at sunrise all together. I would of liked to get some better footage but they disappeared pretty fast after this. I really appreciate the comment ! :)
We always have two fighting over the daily leftovers out the front, it's a scary scream always thought it was a screeching owl till they got closer as I was leaving the food closer and closer to the house, looked out to see what the noise was and see 2 red foxes on their hind legs and having a crazy paw fight. Never thought to film them will the next time!
I am sooo glad I found this! That’s the creepy sound I’ve been hearing at night. It freaked me out one night when I was down at my chicken coop making sure I had put the lock on the run. I’m thankful it’s fully enclosed.
Thank you for this! It’s 3:08am right now. Just heard barking of what I thought was a puppy, but I remembered seeing a fox a week before. Sure enough, it sounded like this! Was able to record the sound, but it was pitch black. Ok, now back to bed.
It does sound like a pup in distress. The first time I heard this down behind my neighbor's, it was late at night. There is nothing but open cow pasture behind my neighbor's, so I knew it wasn't a pup. After I started counting it called thirteen times in row--just one after another. We have Coyotes in the area, but I'd never heard them call like this. I came in the house and looked up Fox calls and sure enough, that's what I heard.
I have heard a gray fox or coyote bark like that. I went outside with my flash light shined it on his eyes and it continued to "bark". I thought it was a coyote because it was big. It makes your spine tingle and the hair on your back raises with primal fear in person. It is quite scary.
Not scary when you can shoot it where it stands. Humans are the most dangerous predator in the animal kingdom. Don’t be scared, get a gun and make it scared, or dead. I do it all the time.
Thank you for sharing this. I would hear this coming from the woods in my backyard at night and think it's a Fischer Cat attacking a raccoon. Never knew until now that it's actually a sweet little Foxy.
This is a great video!! Those foxes look really healthy, and as always, more beautiful than just about any other woodland creature. Wonder what adorable antics you could've captured if nature's cutest snitch hadn't given you away.
Was just night walking through the golf course near my place with my puppy and heard this but longer and more screechy barks. Pup was braver than me lol
Good thing I heard this in a video because honestly, foxes barks sound like someone screaming... I'd probably die if I heard it in nature for the first time.
we have a family of red fox behind our house! Not only is there male and female, but also FOUR healthy kits!! adorable to watch early in the morning! they will run up our front yard and then lay down and roll to the bottom. I love them.
@@bedford4383 Dogs happen to be inbred wolves, and those mostly howl, rather than bark, to talk to each other. Dingoes, ditto. Cats also learned hissing--from snakes.
Im house sitting at a big scary house that backs up to the woods. I was walking into the house and it was almost complete darkness, and I began hearing this noise. My soul left my body.
They know you're there. They have the best hearing of canids, and their sense of smell is far better than humans. They'd smell and hear you before you even notice them.
Just checking to make sure I’m right. So that’s def coyotes I’m hearing in my backyard. Cool. Damn foxes make weird sounds too tho lol love them for that
I feel like every outdoor/woodsy scene in every BBC drama I've ever watched sounds like this, and I've spent a likely irrational amount of time over the years wondering just how many foxes live in England. 😂
The first few calls when you were woken up are a great match with the calls in {for example) the Red Fox Barking video from Nomadic Woodsman here on RU-vid. I would make a completely unexpert judgement and say you were being warned off by a fox. The photo of the black animal, though unclear, is on the face of it very persuasive. The paw prints were great finds. I really liked the video, keep on rocking on!!!
I've a fox who comes into my garden when the weather is fine to work on his tan. He'll sleep out there for hours on end, but he's a scruffy little soul. The guys on this clip look like royalty compared to my fella.
awesome! I've been wondering what animal was screaming so loud at night, it's made the exact same sound as the foxes in this video. I had my suspicions, and this video confirmed them. thanks!
