Red Fox Hunting Vole in Changthang Ladakh 

Red Foxes are found in abundance in Ladakh. They are scavengers of the wild. They follow the bigger wild predator like the snow leopard and wolf and steal and scavenge on their preys/kills.
The Red Fox themselves are also good predators. Their preys are mostly smaller mammals and chicks of birds, etc.. In such landscapes and wetlands like Changhang, their mainly prey on voles, pikas and sometimes young of marmots.
Here, this Red Fox is seen hunting voles and during our stop at the site for the scene, it skilfully preyed on minimum of 5-6 voles in 30 minutes. It was a surprising to see it hunting so many in one go. May be it hunts only in the morning hours.
