Thanks, Michael. You may like to search in RU-vid 'Robert Holmes Channel Two' for about thirty five songs by the same singer songwriter. All from the 21st century, except Raincoat Girl, which is from his Age of Swing LP from 1989. The great Hans Zimmer plays piano on Raincoat Girl and keyboards on a lot of the album.
The 12-inch 45 had two versions of the song: an extended (and speeded-up) version on side one and a shorter version at a more sensible speed on the B-side (with another song, Marianne, from the Tales of the Expected album). The band seemed to have an aversion to including their singles on their albums.
I think you should check the "45 rpm" speed on your vinyl player... I haven't played this record for 10-15 years, but it definitely sounds to me that it is being played too fast. I noticed the same thing on the "Blue Caravan" recording that you posted. But thanks for posting anyway!
