Met them on a plane coming out of Australia. My mother-in-law was sitting next to Flea and questioned him at length on his job, success...he was polite, patient and keep looking at me with a look which was priceless. Class act.
Check out their second album Freaky Stylely, which was produced by one George Edward Clinton (1985 EMI ). Blood Sugar Sex Magic, the album which features 'Give It Away' was produced by Rick Rubin.
She was not ready. 😂😂 Sitting here on the edge of my seat waiting for that shot. Your reactions never disappoint. I think this is way more Chilli Peppers than Under the Bridge. These guys were wild.
It actually is about that. Anthony (singer) talks about Nina Hagen inspiring him by giving him a leather jacket in his autobiography. It's about altruism. Yes he's playing with and incorporating sexual innuendo but it's really about altruism and kindness
Just for some historical context, this song was the debut single from their first album after changing record labels. They came out strong, for sure. They had a following before this record, but this album is the reason everyone knows who they are.
For the most part you're right, but I'm from St. Louis, MO., and I had Mother's Milk... Although that might have had something to do with my being 15 years old and intrigued by that album cover! 😆
This was the normies introduction, they had an ever growing loyal fan base a decade before this came out. Watchers of USA Night Flight were turned on way before MTV decided to go all in.
A trip down the Red Hot Chili Peppers rabbit hole is definitely worth it. The first person I ever heard mention them was actor Kadeem Hardison. So glad he did! I highly recommend "Aeroplane."
Yes India..their "energy is all here" on this one..this band puts out a great split personality spin to their music. They got a great catalog of ones that 'jam' & ones that leave a melancholy lingering bliss to your ears. The bassist Flea will leave any of their songs with a little added,or hugely added bassline groove to it,he's simply one of the very best that ever lived. They have a HUGE catalog to choose from at that. What a great great reaction India..they had you pumped.'Californication' is another stellar one from them, but this band has got SO many good ones to choose from i don't know where to begin.
I remember when I first heard, and saw this. I busted out laughing, and fell in love with them. Fantastic band, and fantastic reaction. I busted out laughing from the joy, the message, the energy. Just splainin.
That album is a masterpiece. I listened to it every day the first year after it came out and I still listen to it every now and then. Frusicante is a guitar hero and Kiedis is an outstanding lyricist.
This was inspired by a girl who had a jacket that Anthony liked and she gave it to him. He wanted to refuse but she taught him about giving things away
Agreed. She just did Under the Bridge followed by Give it away. It would be a missed opportunity to not do Bedrock Anthem NOW. There's no better perfect set up for that song.
This is nothing compared to how she blushed on Nine Inch Nails' "Closer"! If you haven't seen her reaction to that one, you should check it out right away. Classic India!
No, the same song, but from the 1989 Dave Letterman Show! They were all on point, live, and John Frusciante was on fire! An amazing performance!!! Definitely check that one out.
I’ve been to their concert many times in Oakland California and this song gets everyone up, hyped and pumped up. I recommend you go because they deliver from start to finish.
ahhhh its amazing how you grasped the message of giving away love and kindness in this song.... instead of jumping to drugs with the 'what i got u got to get it put it in you' line.... Anthony keidis is smiling somewhere....
Stay on this journey, India. Outstanding band. They have a huge catalog just waiting for you to explore. Love the reaction, as always. If you want energy, stick with these guys.
They performed this song live on what I believe was the MTV Video Awards and it was incredible! The whole stage was full. I don't even know who all had joined them on stage but it had an energy that's rarely seen.
Always dug the Peppers...Flea’s energy is beyond measuring! India...I love your expressions! I can’t believe that you’ve never heard some of these iconic tunes! But keep it going👍🏾💥❤️
You got this so right.. your wiser and kinder pass it on.. also rest in peace River Phoenix.. there's a River born to be a giver, keep you warm, won't let you shiver x
I saw this band in the mid nineties... Anthony gives everything he's got when he's on stage... I was sitting at the front a bit off to the right and when they would take a small break I could see him behind stage to the left using oxygen to recover for a moment...
Really can't go wrong with these guys. You should check out "Show Me Your Soul" and "Go Robot", my and my husband's favorites respectively. Their style changes up a lot, but it's always got a good hook
So glad you appreciate them! I fell in love with them 4 years ago and I never looked back..you should join some of the fansites online...awesome people....Check out Dark Necessities...this is deep and fun.
Kiedis said in an interview this song is about giving to others like you said but I feel like people often overlook that in this song because it has such a badass sound
RHCP are from L.A. , they have that L.A. Rock/Rap style influence, something we can all listen to, all the different kinds of races and ethnic groups we have in California, you should react to "All Around The World" by them, it's another one of their energetic songs!
Bob Marley was one of the greatest artists in history both for his music and his global popularity as a champion of human rights. He was a Reggae artist and Rastafarian. Anthony is giving props to him.
When I was growing up this video was constantly in MTV. NOW, you have to watch the Weird Al video “Bedrock Anthem.” It’s a parody of “Under the Bridge”, and “Give it away”. They say there are two people in this world, Givers and Takers.
I kinda feel like we need a special channel where you just watch every RHCP video since True Men Don't Kill Coyotes. Definite antidote to this wrecked summer.
Knock me down should be the next. First song I have ever heard when it came out ages ago😂😂😂. But it definitely has a great message and the video is highly energetic. I think you'll enjoy it. ✌
I was with my friends at an ABBA tribute band, all nice, all cool... then they had a break and this song came up... We RAVED up that building yo!! Best part of the ABBA tribute night ^^
