Red Hot Chili Peppers - Police Station (Live In Cologne HD 1080p) from their new album "I'm With You" for a special concert in Cologne, Germany. This show was broadcast live to Cinemas all over the world on the 30th of August 2011.
Evin Paauwe good for you. I appreciate RHCP with Hillel, with Jack, with John, with Dave, with Josh... hell, with Blackbird McKnight all exactly the same.
ryan martin Maybe I should give Pink Floyd another go sometime and give it a listen. I used to have some songs I liked but I kind of forget about them. Maybe it´s because they were a little too mellow to me. Josh indeed is amazing and I´m happy I sometimes come across people like you who agree. They seem rare. RHCP´s jams have turned out completely different and most of them I really adore. ´War of The worlds´ jam is one of those which I frequently recommend people to give a listen... ;) It's breathtaking to me.
this is such an incredible song. brilliant, every note is in its right place. genius. just look at Flea from 2:30 - 2:50 he is going absolutely nuts! the thing that guitar-loving John fans struggle with is with Josh. he is a completely different guitarist than Frusciante, and they can't deal with it! their closed minds just want to worship at the altar of John and nothing more..... they only want to hear a Stratocaster playing either clean or fuzzed up with a Big Muff for leads. that's it! that's all they want to hear! and because of their closed minds they are missing out on a freak of a guitarist. Josh is somewhere between Kim Thayil, Hillel Slovak and Jonny Greenwood. he's a texturist, never afraid to use pedals to create a layer of sound. his backing vocals are also sublime. where as Fruciante would sing simple harmonies to accentuate the main vocal, Josh will sing counterpoint melodies and different lyrics completely, often stretching out a syllable as if its a musical instrument. most of this gets lost on the casual listener, but FFS have a good listen to this young fellow. he's incredible!!!
Well, Josh is a good musician, especially for those who had had the opportunity to witness a bit of his contribution alongside John in some of John’s solo albums. I do believe that it was something quite countable to make anyone understand how good he is as a musician. But besides all that, the problem was not Josh himself, but the legacy John’s built alongside the other Chili Peppers members. Whoever would replace John by taking his position after his departure, would inevitably be obfuscated by his shadow, cause his work with the band was something rather uplifting and meaningful that reached out an incredible point musically. The greatness of that legacy can’t be arguable, it’s bigger than any musician that’d merely join the band afterwards. So Josh has nothing to do with it whatsoever.
Ironically now Frusciante is living in Joshes shadow. After I'm with You and The Getaway Frusciante had some awfully big shoes to fill with their current record unlimited Love
@@paulharrisonadventuregearm5457 totally agree... Josh completely surpassed Frusciante... maybe that is why they asked him to leave when John decided to rejoin...
The problem is fame and fortune. They wanted John back because of his unconditional (brainless) fandom. John made the RHCP a POP band, with a more melodic repertoire than the funky/rap style they had until Hillel died. John took the band to massive audiences... that was good, ok, but let us say things right.
@@paulharrisonadventuregearm5457 Really? Although I think that Unlimited Love is not better than I'm with you, I don't think that Frusciante is living in Josh's shadow at all! Honestly, I truly think it's something impossible! The chemistry that exists amongst them with John rejoining the group is something entirely divine and unique. However, Josh is a great musician, no doubt about that, but in my opinion, he'll never fit in the band as suitably as John does.
@@jes8253 unlimited love is brilliant...but it's nowhere near as exploratory as what Josh did with the RHCP..both the getaway and I'm with you...were really pushing forward with new concepts
