Apparently originally the outro went on for way longer and made up most of the song. I wish they kept it that way. Rick Rubin talks about it in a recent interview…
Yeah man. Those Fru strat tones never get old to me. Fender should be paying this guy a chunk of their annual profits for helping keep their guitars culturally relevant with younger generations since the 80s ;) And the outro with what sounds like a Jaguar (could be a Jazzmaster too, their tremolos both have the same distinct sound) is so nice too. Love it. :)
The "Hey" of Unlimited Love. Took me a couple of listens until it fully resonated with me, but that's very typical for great music. This album is absurdly good.
Yes. Yes it is. It's probably the best thing America has in reality apart from films about completely unreal things. And I mean that kindly. Oh, and good meat based dishes. The triumvirate of Americana, globalised. Did you know the Millennium Falcon is based on a burger?
@@NickyNustar Music, movies and fast food. I'm not so bothered about the fast food, but as far as music and movies, I'm a fan. Then there's the literature and art also.
@@NickyNustar I'm not the biggest reader, but I'm partial to stuff like Hunter S Thompson, Charles Bukowski, William Burroughs. What about Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Twain, Edgar Alan Poe, Harper Lee etc in terms of art there's a lot of modern artists particularly, Basquiat, Pollock, people like that, I'm not an expert but there's loads.
I really dont understand, nor care for the people who whine about how this album was down under. This song itself represents the real music we lack for today. Seriously, its beautiful
Beautiful chord progression and beautiful simple melody by Anthony. Chad and Flea are playing their part perfectly and the weird, kinda surf rock outro is just brilliant. The whole album is so good
Still think WET SAND is their best song, although many would disagree which is awesome by me, they have many fantastic ideas for their songs, which releasing new albums after 39 years together. Not even Mick and the boys have stood up there. Peace fellow music lovers and my apologies for dropping in on your thread, I think thats what the youngsters call it.🤘😊❤
not sure about the lyrics though. it's extremely hard to surpass lyrically 'death of brendan' , 'sick love', 'around the world', 'roadtrippin' or 'can't stop'
@@tomsmith4542 ok but when has any chili peppers' fan ever cared about the lyrics of the songs lol, if you're a rhcp fan because of the lyrics then you're doing it wrong lol
This band changed my life. I pursued bass and music for over a decade right out of high school, may not have “made it” but it turned me into who I am today. So many great memories. All because these guys made music together. So grateful
@@tobyhallitt7923 I did for about ten years but had to call it quits. I still play for the enjoyment, have a wife and house now and a great job that I love. Still blast rhcp!
The critics are objective, many fans will still purchase this album, just to keep their collection intact, proof is in sales downloads etc, personally a big disappointment
@@brendanbarker6403 true but it‘s still a really good album. I also think the next one the get more Crazy with John Frusciante. He clearly held a little bit back in this one. It‘s just love between these 4 guys and not John making up some iconic Guitar Riffs like Can‘t Stop.
@@brendanbarker6403 Everyone is entitled to their own opinions! It's not for everyone. Like I said tho it really exceeded my expectations. I don't see what people hate about it really
They’re so funny. Subdued, low key singles (that I liked a lot) and then a beautiful album full of creativity and so much frusciante backing vocals and guitar. They nailed it
i have to be honest. I bought stadium arcadium as my first album as an 8 year old. The first album i ever remember loving every damn song (and its a double album). Johns guitar on that album is what got me to pick up the guitar. I really started getting good at playing around the time Josh joined and IMY came out. Thought the john era was over indefintely. Hearing him come back in 2019 had me awake for days, in shock and awe. Fast forward 2 years and upon first listen to the album i was so sad that i wasnt connecting with the songs at all -- none of it sounded very good to me. I awoke the next morning and decided to play it back,........and its as if the songs i listened to the previous night had laid eggs in my head during that first listen. By morning the babies had hatched and they wanted to go back to their mother, and suddenly every song was infectious as ever. This album is such a great culmination of their past work its crazy. I wish i could see John live but I simpy cant afford the flight across country and th eticket prices. If RHCP want to sponsor me than I'd be damned lol maybe like this comment up the wazoo and see what happens loool. Love this band and especially this song is absoultey great. Amazed as always...keep on funkin forever.
Almost the same exact experience, give or take a few minor details and a couple years or so of when I first listened to Stadium Arcadium (I was 10, I’m 26 now…)
The outro of this song defines my soul. Those drums 😯😲 remind me of a Johnny Cash song. And Frusciante’s vocals omg so glad he’s back. For being the second guitarist, I think he really helped define their sound. Although it feels the world is ending, boy am I grateful I’m alive to immerse myself in this album. Makes it all a little better.
I love that outro, I've been listening to a lot of 60s surf music, and 60s west coast rock bands recently, and it gives me heavy vibes of those bands, amazing song :)
This song is what I didn't know I needed right now. And what a pleasure it is to hear John singing in the back. Thanks a lot RHCP, been following me for the past 13 years.
I'm a tangled tiger and I want to rip it all to shreds So I can ask it why She's a loaded cobra and she wanted to be with me for the ride In a Sunday diner, I'm reminded there's no finer place to kiss Than one like this But babe, I can see what's right with you White braids and pillow chair I could spend my nights with you This pussy willow Babe, I can see all sides of you White braids and pillow chair I don't know what I would do without your pillow She's a Bobby Darin singing to the fish and herring sacrifice Oh, that's her knife There's a Karmann Ghiah parked out back and we believe it is alive (Oh) You can see the river running through my dеvastated concrete еyes They don't deny But babe, I can see what's right with you White braids and pillow chair I could spend my nights with you This pussy willow Babe, I can see all sides of you White braids and pillow chair I don't know what I would do California blue Sing to you things to do California blue Sing to you Deep Ventura sky Rolling by, rolling why Deep Ventura sky Rolling by Santa Cruz in June Either blue, surf the moon Santa Cruz in June Be the gloom Surf the moon Santa Cruz in June Surf the moon San Francisco Bay Safe to say, paved the way San Francisco Bay Paved the way
I wonder if this could be about flea and his wife melody, just like "Hard to concentrade"- im looking forward to their explanations to all the new songs
I was struggling to feel most of the songs in the album, but this song, especially the outro, hit me like a truck. I don't know what it is, but I nearly cried with it... it just feels so careless and melancholic...
Close your eyes and imagine you’re on a cliff side beach here in sunny California during the sunset, few clouds in the sky, playing this on your speaker full blast, your favorite people around you. Blissful.
was riding in the car with my partner and this song came on. halfway through the outro he just burst out crying and could not explain why. there's just something about it that can't be put into words.
I can't think of a better way than to spend a Friday evening listening and bonding with the new chili songs 💕 😋 love you all guys 20 years you are and always will be my favourite come home to ❤❤❤
Launch day, diary entry #1: Best song on the album probably. Still need moar listens. Just grabbed my sunburst stratocaster, neck pickup on, firing up the FM3 to learn this song. Copped a PS5 finally, landed new job, pre-ordered Martin 00-15. Life is good.
@@matthewmp111 I'm pretty sure he has talked about it in multiple interviews but check the one with Rick Rubin, which is very worth listening to either way
I showed a friend of mine this song who refused to listen to the album due to his distaste in the singles, his mouth dropped like 15 seconds in lmao said it took him back to the "good ole days" with their sound. I myself loved this album and it definitely gets more enjoyable with each listen; while its far from their best album it contains a very solid set of songs tbh
I had the same feeling hearing this song. I was underwhelmed with the singles, but once I heard about 20 seconds of this one--instant classic. It's one of their all-time great songs IMO.
Simply genius. The climax of the song took me into an almost transcendental experience. There are lots of gems in this album. With their pure music which connects to the soul, RHCP stands out from many other bands whose focus is on loudness. RHCP forever! :)
It makes all the difference knowing that this song is about an elderly couple. Old guy with with braids and an old lady who brings her own pillow to a coffee shop. The fact that Anthony saved this song for years hoping John would one day return is 😭
Trying to learn it on guitar, got most of it down and the chord progressions are just so sublime. It's like tracing the Mona Lisa. I know i'm playing magic and it sounds like it. You can play this on a ragged guitar and the notes will sound just as beautiful. God Bless John Frusciante. He's given me so much color in a drab, cold world.
This is absolute gold, in spite of the unusual title, it has a twangy alt country feel or perhaps one of those old time beach or surfer films. Simpler times....
