The story is that the album producer wanted Buddy to sing Voodoo Chile....and he said "Jimi sang it, and he died. And Stevie Ray sang it, and he died. So forgive me for bein' superstitious, but I'll sing Red House for you."
@@thomaswiggin4334 Sorrry but "Red House" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and one of the first songs recorded in 1966 by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. This is a tribute album of songs written and recorded by Jimi Hendrix. If you discover otherwise please inform me. I'm always one to admit fault.
Jimi Hendrix would have turned 77 today. I can't even picture him at that age. He is forever frozen in time. This was probably the most traditional blues song that he composed. He really captured the sound and even the theme of the older Chicago masters. Buddy Guy was the perfect choice to bring home that point on this 1993 tribute album that also includes tracks from Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Pat Metheny. FB: Cover version of the day

Got to see him perform with Juinior Wells before Junior died. Buddy's 60th Birthday party 6 bucks to get in at the original Legends. Luther Allison, Elvin Bishop, Phil Guy, Ronnie Baker Brooks all just walked in and Jammed. I even got a piece of his birthday cake. One of the best nights I ever had in the windy city
I saw him in 2010 with B.B. King at the United Palace in Harlem, NYC. It’s a small 3,300 seat theatre, originally built as a movie palace in the 1930s. Buddy and his band played the first half of the show and then B.B. King and his and played the second half. Buddy walked right up into the cheap seats as he played. It was really something I’m glad I got to see. Sometimes when you go to see some of these older legends, they are past their prime and it’s fun to see them but they have shaky moments. There wasn’t one ounce of that with buddy guy. He blew my expectations away! And frankly, BB King, while he was in his early 80s and he had to sit, his Voice seem to be as powerful as ever. His guitar playing was past its prime, but he was aware of it and played accordingly and his note choice and phrasing were tasteful and appropriate and his TONE & VIBRATO were anything but “past-their-prime!” He sounded amazing and he, too, did not disappoint.
Was working an event around 2002, I believe it was the Bowery Ballroom, NYC...when Buddy Guy and John Mayer, of all prople, took the stage. They proceeded to jam and blew the roof off the place! I was floored and thoroughly impressed. I'll never forget that performance.
This dude is so cool. He was partners of the famous Checker board lounge. Jimi and buddy were friends back in the day. There's only one Hendrix. Hands down.
There's a red house over yonder That's where my baby stays Lord, there's a red house over yonder Lord, that's where my baby stays I ain't been home to see my baby In ninety-nine and one half days Wait a minute, something's wrong The key won't unlock the door Wait a minute something's wrong, baby Lord have mercy, this key won't unlock this door (something's goin' on here) I have a bad, bad feeling That my baby don't live here no more (That's alright I still got my guitar, look out now) Well, I might as well go on over yonder Way back up on the hill (I got something to do) Lord, I might as well go back over yonder Way back yonder 'cross the hill 'Cause if my baby don't love me no more I know her sister will
Buddy Guy is the man that showed Jimi Hendrix and Billy Gibbons how to bend a guitar string. Buddies playing is what Hendrix could hear when Hendrix would go and see him play and record him.
Well if Jimi was still playing then what. We cannot compare a 26 yr old to A blues man of 70. Jimmi wouldve been about the same age. Know what ur talking about when u judge. Buddy tears this up. period. Its Jimmi's song ok. So how would he have re-arranged it by now. God only knows.
you can all go back and forth on this, but its the arts. One preference vs another is competely individual opinion...dont even waste time with which is better
