The Red mulberry tree, Canada’s only native mulberry species, is endangered. Fewer than 200 remain in isolated populations in Ontario. Dr. John Ambrose a retired botanist, living on Pelee has been working with Ontario’s rare tree species for over 40 years.  In this video he shares his knowledge on what the species looks like, where it is found, why it is endangered and what landowners can do to help conserve species at risk like the Red mulberry.
Funding for this project was provided by the Government of Ontario.

I am in NYC and I just found these within the weeds of 3 of my neighbors unruly backyard spilling out and over my fence. I’m grateful now its thriving here after seeing this video and will be conscious of its scarcity. We have beautiful birds and I’m happy they will be fed ❤

Good video, I've bought red mulberry seed from Sheffields, and I've bought plants from Northland Nursery near Waterdown. I've always wondered if I was getting red mulberry or a hybrid.

A hybrid is still better than a buckthorn which is all over my area.
