“We have fought during 15 days for a single house, with mortars, grenades, machine guns and bayonets. Already by the 3rd day, 54 German corpses were strewn in the cellars, on the landings and staircases. The front is a corridor between burnt out rooms. It is the thin ceiling between floors. Help comes from neighboring houses by fire escapes and chimneys. There is a ceaseless struggle from morning until night. From story to story, faces black with sweat, we bombard each other with grenades, in the middle of explosions, amid clouds of dust and smoke, heaps of mortar, floods of blood, fragments of furniture and human beings. Ask any soldier what half an hour of hand-to-hand struggle means in such a fight. And at Stalingrad it has been 80 days and nights of hand-to-hand struggle. The street is no longer measured by meters, but by corpses. Stalingrad is no longer a town. By day it is an enormous cloud of burning, blinding smoke. And when night arrives, one of those scorching, howling, bleeding nights, the dogs plunge into the Volga and swim desperately to gain the other bank. The nights of Stalingrad are a terror for them. Animals flee this hell, the hardest stones cannot bear it for long. Only man endures. . . .” found on German Lieutenant Weiner from the 24th panzer division in Stalingrad
reminder to any new players, turn your audio up so that any nearby explosions literally shake your headset, if you arent doing this then you arent playing correctly
This game has one of the best musics I know. Each of them evokes emotions of the tragedy of this war, sadness and fear ... its brilliant. It is sad that after Red Orchiestra no game was created that would match its realism, and graphics because the graphic style definitely makes up for the old textures, in fact it resembles the real world together with the intensity of colors, the game does not allow you to forget that it is a simulation of war.
To me, Post Scriptum it's a little closer and better to RO2, minus the war torn and dreadful atmosphere of the original. If they the modding community can pull with a eastern front mod for PS it would be a worthy spiritual successor to RO2.
@@solidbeard8324 Eh. PS is solid don't get me wrong. But perhaps doesn't really capture the type of battles we get in Red Orchestra, mostly because the maps are too big and require long range movement and base building. There isn't even the glorious battle chatter we get in RO , but mostly because its a simulator. RO deff sits in that casual/realism medium and PS goes full realism. IMO. Both have carnage, but its a different kind of carnage.
Ro 2 is the only game in which i don't care about a kill streak, but about my team wining the battle. Especially during defending or attacking the last point, that last struggle, you just have to give all you've got to succeed.
One of the first FPS i ever played, taught me how to Larp and hurl insults at my enemies and gives you PTSD (jokingly but still horrific) one of my favorite FPS games of all time I wish more servers closer to me place tho
im Polish and i still dont understand people who believe to "polish concentration camps". That was an American propaganda to clean Germany from their war crimes. Its so sad becuse we were one of the most anihileited country of this war, we saved jews and for all of that we were betraied by West and we are still accused of murdering the people we saved, regardless of the death penalty.
@@Counter-Chicken Very little collaborators compared to france, lithuania and other countries, even though Poland had the biggest jewish population. We collaborated the least, and saved the most jews.
Remeber, in game you can respawn, in reality you cant. And then think about it, that this game depics real WW2 combat, where you can die instantly because of one guy sitting 300 meteres away. Think, how that was horrible and it happened in real life, only 80 years ago...
@@ceoofperc5353 The criminals are the politicians and bankers who set these wars up in the first place. The men who answered to call to action endured insane shit during that battle.
Музыка передает весь ужас и величие тех ужасающих боёв в Сталинграде 1942-1943, эта битва стала решающей и показала всю стойкость, героизм и живучесть совеских людей и нашей великой родины!!!!
War is war. Its no good vs bad its Army vs Army. In both sides you can see awesome guys or just bastards no mater the nation or side. The game shows us this and that why i call it Art.
War, is pure hell In war, Your sacrifice is rewarded with the satisfaction it mattered... No soldier is a true grunt but a asset but more importantly A human being, who fights for his beliefs and country! No matter An American,Russian,German, etc War, war may change in purpose but the cost of war will always be the same, paid in lives I salute the Soviet soldiers as much as the American They won the war no more then the other... I salute them both!
The only reason for war is defending your country if you're going to war to get land you're the bad guy if you're repelling your invaders you're the good guy I dunno that's what my brother told me and it seams like that owuld be the only good reason for war.
Strong and deeply emotional theme. I notice that Russians through History proved that they have an amazing skill to express feelings by "dark" sad things. From painting to music.
In most FPSes, you assume the role of a badass SpecFor/FORECON/SAS operator or whathaveyou on a badass romp to blow up some terrorists (or to xX360-NOSCOPE N00BS MLG-PROXx). In RO, you're a statistic in the bloodiest of all human conflicts, either miles away from home, or herded into a desperate stand with a commissar's gun at your back- cold, scared and vulnerable, knowing a grim array of horrible deaths await you at every turn. Luckily, you have the comfort of knowing it's all simulated.
They didn't need people pointing guns at them to fight, they're were protecting their homes. If it wasn't in Stalingrad it would have been somewhere else, even closer to their homes. What a nonsensical bunch of bollocks this commisar death squad bs really is...
kalmec100 is actually correct. The song is in Russian. Translated, the lyrics are: The dark horde is ravaging our homeland But we will stand here Stand here to the death
Und ich erinnere mich an die Verteidigung der Apartments als in nur wenigen Minuten 300 Russen meinem MG zum Opfer fielen hoffr da sie ihren Frieden gefunden haben
Always imagined this playing over a the image of a dusty packed road of men machines and horses with city a blaze in the distance. A city named indicated by a fallen wooden sign "Stalingrad"
I love this theme. The beginning kind of reminds me of CoD 1's theme, so it brings back some nostalgia I had for that game. Sometimes I will just sit in the menu to listen to this theme lol.
60 man strong bayonet rushes straight into an artillery strike, straight into hell, to die and respawn and do it over and over again. God, those were the days :').
War is hell. No other game since the original Red Orchestra mod and Ostfront 44-45 lets you understand that as good, without actually taking part in a war.
"Stalingrad should be less seen as the turning point it wasn't, and the slaughter for egos of madmen that it was" I forgot who wrote that in the Eastern front book I read a few years ago but it stuck with me.😮 Found out who it was, the only western author allowed unlimited access to Russia's Soviet era archives ..and the only man who Putin (ew) has said is required reading dispite his bashing of Soviet era leadership.
It is a stunning decisive victory for the Soviets. The German army group South was crushed. The first major victory in the war against Germany that did any lasting damage.
@@dabo5078 honestly, the offensive following Moscow and Kursk were far more important, Stalingrad was pretty small change in hindsight. It just had his name so he made it a big propaganda thing.
@@Captainkebbles1392 Nope none of them scored any decisive blow to the German army. Most german units were only lightly mauled, and none were destroyed. Kursk was important but it occurred after Stalingrad and only happened because the German sixth army was gone allowing the Soviets to pursue a true large-scale offensive to where they were in a position to recapture Kursk and defend from German counter-attacks.
@@dabo5078 okay I don't wanan be rude but the lose od 6th army was trivial compared to the losses suffered at Moscow and Operation Saturn, numbers alone don't tell the story, AFVs, Aircraft, commanders saked ect. You DO release the battle Of Stalingrad they Germans turned right around, butchered the Soviets at Karkov, then launched Citadel right? Don't buy the Soviet wartimr propaganda man even modern Russians are like 'yeah stalingrad was over hyped by by a mass murderer to boost his ego'
@@Captainkebbles1392 Karkov only costed the Soviets minute losses while giving germany slight strategic breathing room. The victory did not turn anything around as it only stalled Soviet offensives (Operation citadel is a complete utter failiure for the Germans and basically crippled their ability to maintain strategic offensives). It did not regain the much needed terriotry in the Caucasus and attrition wise did not favour the Germans one bit. Simply compare Karkhov to Case Blue of 42 that did do attritional damage to the soviets. Remember, the soviets could take far more losses than the Aixis. A strategic victory for Germany means they need to achieve far more than just mere parity in losses.
I see a lot of hate for the Soviets and Germans for what they did but no one should ever forget the atrocities committed by the allies like: The rape, murder and exile of countless woman and children (not men as they were conscripted in the army) by the polish. The rape and killings of countless German civilians after the fall of Berlin by allied forces (not just one country but several) Mass rape of Italian women by French colonial forces Mass rape and abuse of French women by the US (yes their allies raped them even i was very surprised by it) what makes this worse is that while other nations did this for revenge, american soldiers did it as a way of "showing superiority" and to provide motivation. Ethnic cleansing of Germans, mostly by polish (including a forced death march) And operation Phoenix which was " designed with the stated objective to neutralize the NLF (National Liberation Front of South Vietnam, popularly known as the Vietcong), and it utilized infiltration, capturing, terrorizing, assassinating, converting, or killing to meet its objectives. More than 80,000 suspects were neutralized by the Phoenix operatives, killing more than 25,000 Vietnamese, and leaving the others disabled due to extreme torture" And lastly the torture and mistreatment of Rudolf Hoess by the British There are many more, just a simple Google search will give you hundreds of results. And just in case your wondering, none of the people who soldiers who committed those acts of rape and torture of innocent women and children were ever brought to justice (some were even motivated to keep doing it)
Every country on the face of this earth has committed atrocities in one way or another, at this point, giving labels and fighting over who is evil and who isn't is futile and worthless. In America, we felt justified in going to war in the Middle East because we had been wronged, not to different than what happened with Germany after WW1. What others call evil, some call justifiable, and vise versa.
megaman32345 None of these war crimes even come close to what Germans, Russians and Japanese did though. And prove the US commanders "motivated" their men to rape.
first time ever playing this game was spawned rite in the midst of a soviet charge.twas madness,we actually ended up beating dem krauts and taking the southwoods in like 10mins kek
