This might be the most significant '2' in stompbox history... even though it doesn't sound any different to the '1'.
I used an original Particle for the shimmery effect on my little intro jingle. It was a wondrous pedal, offering much more than choppy-uppy granular delay effects, but a tricky one to navigate. Enter the Particle 2, which lets you store presets... and that really does change everything.
It's a bit more than 90 seconds, this one, which is totally the pedal's fault - it just does so much. Mind you, if I'd tried to make the same video with an original Particle it probably would have been more like 90 minutes.
NOTE: The stereo configuration that's new to v2 works fine but doesn't create stereo effects, so not a big deal. Useful for synth players, maybe.
(Guitar is a Harmony Silhouette.)

Welcome to Dickie's 90-Second Pedal Demos!
No waffling, no widdling, no blues-rock grimacing.
No edits, no backing tracks, no uncritical gushing.
And absolutely no paid/promoted/sponsored content.
Just quick, simple, irreverent but high-quality introductions to great pedals - both acclaimed classics and underrated gems - and how to get the best out of them.

Woah. How did you get that chorus sound?
@DickieDemos
@DickieDemos 4 месяца назад
Well… chorus is basically just a very short delay, right? Pitch mode; blend and chop at noon, delay and feedback at minimum; then you start with parameter at minimum and turn it up very slowly until it starts to modulate.

@@DickieDemos Awesome, thank you! I got the Particle 6 months ago purely for the amazing reverse delay on my synths. Just picked up a guitar, a Boss IR-2, and a Habit (arriving this afternoon) so I'll dive into the modulation possibilities today!

this is the kinda pedal that fucks up bird migration patterns by discombombulating magnetic fields

Should I get this or the Raster V2 for sound design?
@DickieDemos
@DickieDemos Месяц назад
Depends what sort of sounds you want to design! I don't have the Raster - it's high on my shopping list - but it looks to be more versatile as a 'normal' delay AND does proper stereo effects. The Particle might be better if you want glitchy unpredictability.

$330 USD? lol. I do like the few novelty gimmicky glitchy sounds it generates...but for that price, no f'n way. But kudos to the circuit-bender who created this overpriced experiment that nobody would use for longer than a week(before throwing it in their closet and forgetting about it). A $50 pricetag would have been more tempting. But $330? I'm dying laughing.
@DickieDemos

Well, it's cheaper than a Chase Bliss Habit! 😁 I understand your point and suspect a lot of guitarists will agree, but the Particle 2 is a staple of my live board and I'd hate to be without it. So as long as there are enough freaks like me out there...

@@DickieDemosI have a Pladask Elektrisk Fabrikat, a granular synthesis pedal that is similar to this one. What I first thought was a “stunt” pedal is anything but-on my board it’s an always-on delay that adds a really nice quality to the sound. I got it a few years ago on Reverb for $375 and it was, honestly, a bargain. There are endless possibilities to the soundscapes I can create with the Fabrikat in conjunction with my other pedals. The Fabrikat is complex but understanding it has been worth the effort. I’m sure the Particle yields similar rewards.

@@dstroviolin Oh, I really like the look of the Fabrikat. A tough purchase to justify when I already have a Particle, but I'm sure I'll convince myself eventually.

@@DickieDemos I’m considering the reverse-buying a Particle to backup, be an alternative to, the Fabrikat. The Fab has a very minor input jack issue so it’ll eventually need to go to the shop for a bit and I want to keep recording, keep rolling. Even the best pedals develop goofy little problems (switch, jack) after years of use.
