The second trilogy- maybe not. But the original Red Rising trilogy put to screen would be brilliant. Would love to see how they did the Cassius/Darrow duel in Golden Son and the space battles of Morning Star, as well as the Lion's Rain.
@@niccolodagruma It would be glorious to see the second Battle of Mercury on screen, but in terms of managing the pretty good balance between emotional investment and spectacle it massively favors the latter. Would be very pretty, but I fear a lack of substance, and that can gut even the most brilliant art pieces.

Never in my life have I felt so close to a story/book. Please keep following your intuition in regards to screen play. Take all the time you need. I'd rather wait 20 years for a good show instead of waiting 1 year for a mediocre or acceptable story.
I think an animated show would probably be the most realistic adaptation tbh. The special effects needed to make a single good looking razor battle would be absurd.
probably agree. there is so much to go wrong with an realistic adaption. so many shows have been ruined and where such a flop (rings of power for example). there are very few people who could do this. Maybe Denis Villeneuve and far away from anyone who produced any Marvel Movie to turn this into a mindless action show.

I want to see a show/movie akin to Dune for Red Rising. Red Rising could shake cinema with its writing and story telling. The next generations Game of Thrones. I think Amazon are the studio to do that, Amazon are craving their own breakthrough series, and Red Rising can give them that if they do it right.
I feel like this could be like game of thrones if done right. The right actors, voices, authenticity of the locations, etc...if it's not done right, just don't do it.
This could be the best film/series to ever be made. Personally I loved the books more than any I’ve ever read. The images of what the universe would look like in my head give me hope. This would be amazing. Truly my favorite series. Would have to be hour episodes with 12+ episodes per season. They couldn’t fit it in 1-3 seasons. It would have to be many.
As long as they stick to the actual story & don’t take characters out or change people’s race, or gender or sexuality to appease anyone. DO NOT PC THIS UP!!!!!
I would say yes, but they’d have to put a ton of money into it for us not to be disappointed, we’re talking Game of Thrones levels of investment. I think HBO/MAX would be the service to make this happen.
I can't believe Pierce began this series in his early-mid 20's. I'm currently on Book 3; the man is "unreasonably" brilliant. He has insight into the human psyche that is far beyond his age. He must have done very well in school.
Without any question… the only streaming service worthy of this assignment is HBO Max. I don’t have high hopes for any other streaming company when it comes to this book series

@Fearlessleadr7 if they do a tv show they can add so much more than a movie and not rush it it's got a big budget so why make it an animal when a TV show will get much more views animus not that popular it's getting their but red rising will not make what it deserves as an anime only live action will more people watch it I liked enders game I also read the books and enjoyed it of course the movie was lacking but if they made it a live action tv show they could have done it justice
if I was a show runner, I would start with second book, while having some flash back from first book (about games) than maybe end season with ecaping from luna. Than cold opening at season 2 with 2 episode flash back at mines at mars. than rest of the second book. than book 3 for season 3 / 4.
That's a terrible idea the mines and the games are the core of the story and the relationships the characters build putting them into flashbacks just makes the story weak and confusing book one needs to be a whole season with elements of book two added into it like most adaptions these days
Please cast it correctly, and not just cause someone is famous. Timothee Chalamet wouldn’t make a good Gold let alone a great Darrow. And if Severo isn’t casted right, I’m out! lol Severo is one of my favorite book characters since Luna Lovegood. I hope it’s a tv series with a big budget and not a movie. This story needs time to marinate!
i don't care about others but the core four characters like Darrow, mustang, severo and Vectra need to be casted accurately i personally always pictured Elizabeth Debicki as Vectra she fits the description so well she is tall blonde and can play Badass characters
I don't know. If they bring on the writer's for the first season of Altered Carbon they could knock it out of the park. They put a ridiculous budget into the first season of Altered Carbon but it didn't land with viewers because it wasn't a very well known book and only had one sequel book that was pretty meh. However, they pretty much stayed 100% accurate to the storyline of the book in an 8 episode season. The thing that will work with Red Rising is they can start with young up and coming stars and basically keep them throughout the series because of the big time jump between the first trilogy to the second. Especially since the long time frame between seasons with Netflix series that tend to be 15-18 months out.
Agreed Netflix is way too obsessed with race and politics plus they would just cancel it after one season most of them would only HBO and Apple tv might invest in it for at least a 3 season investment
HBO and Max are the only places i can see that will do this amazing series justice they have the money and they stick to source material but i pray it doesn't fall into the hands of Netflix, Amazon or Disney cause they are known to completely butcher source material and then cancel it after one season
Lord of the Rings & Hunger Games didn't get ruined They just have to get the right producers, writers, directors etc & for the typical cash snortin Hollywood pigs to keep their hands off it.
Would be completely retarded if Brown makes this Apple TV exclusive. They have about 6% of market and would be a big middle finger to many of his readers. Amazon Prime or HBO would make much more financial sense with guaranteed spillover viewers from Expanse (hungry for something to fill the void) or Game of Thrones fans who love intrigue and deep character development. Putting it on Apple TV would be ignoring too many hardcore sci-fi fans who don't want to see woke BS spoil a good story, which is exactly what would happen if left to Apple producers.

Dota: Dragon’s Blood gave me hope of a good animated adaptation of red rising. They’re going to need to find a lot of body builders who can also act or they’re going to have a hard time with a live action cast.
