Watch the Red Road flats in Glasgow being blown up. Please note the dust cloud swallowing us leading to some panic amongst the crowd. You can now also watch the blow up in reverse (click on ULR) : • Red Road Flats Demolit...
Contractors should have moved the viewing public much further back. Someone screwed up. Personally, I gobsmacked they did do the demolition on a heavily raining day to reduce the dust. It rains every day in Scotland.
Heee! Nog een Jan Kaas die in Glasgow woont? We wilden altijd al in Schotland wonen en gingen dus werk zoeken en vonden een baan bij de Universiteit....Wat doe jij hier?
I saw your video where you visit the flat one day before demolition, very interesting. Must be sad to see the building gone. You never forget your first appartment.........
Nice to see a Dutchman has filmed this as well! At 1.37 he says: Dat is een stoffige toestand, of niet. In English: That is a dusty situation, isn't it.
Loved the video, lived in Glasgow for a long time... and in the end... they are speaking Dutch! LOL! Wat een stoffige toestand, of niet? Hahaha! Lekker, ouwe! Mooi fimpie!
ha ha ha! nice one! It is scarry though to see the big parts of the building flying by. Which one is the other video you mention? (I wanna check it ou! I wanna check it out!)
Hey Pepijn Zoet, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) :) Cheers, Felix
yes, 1960's flats I think. Cost a lot to build at the time but harboured loads of people. Probably not what you'd call a low crime area by the 70s or 80s. They initially harboured a lot of refugees and people requiring low rent accomodation, from the wiki - As of Spring 2014, with two of the buildings demolished, only Tower 2 (33 Petershill Drive) remains occupied; the deconstruction process now having begun on the remaining five. It is likely that the five under demolition will be demolished in 2015.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Road_Flats#Transfer_to_housing_association_ownership
Yes it could be sad for the people who grew up with it being there but at the same time it was an old eyesore that would have been very costly to renovate and maintain
I think safedem tried to discourage people to come and watch. They said on their site that there was no clear view of the building. Considering these buildings dominate the skyline I found that hard to believe. I however did not expect to get that close either. Some of the videos on youtube appear to have been shot even closer to the building...You should watch the other one comming down! I don't know when....
I wonder how many people will/have already died from that damn cloud of concrete/construction materials dust... SMH! The good people of Glasgow deserve better than that!
+rads ter Yeah, because a blast that echoed through the streets and an explosion that blew out 5 stories of the building were clearly visible on the wtc 7 collapse video. Fuck.
