right out of your playbook...hang in, two pair, etc and wait for the hit .....great, John. The other skill which most players don't exhibit is the discipline, to know when to stop playing, at certain levels of win/loss, and you know in you mind where that threshold is....as well as the throttle up/down denom that you do....those aforementioned disciplines, I believe at least which you practice are keys to your success on top of a smart game, and excellent play by you!

Thank you, Tim, for your generous comments. The walking away part is probably the tougher of the disciplines to master. That one still gets me from time to time!😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Congratulations, David, on not only hitting your very 1st Royal Flush, but that your 1st Royal Flush, was a very respectable $8,000 Royal Flush. Just so you know, the “$8,000 Royal Flush” is the “Gateway Royal” to hitting all the bigger Royal Flushes of: $20,000, $40,000, $80,000, and $100,000 Royals. In order to do so, I recommend that you go back through all my lengthier comments to others on all my videos in order for you to learn and understand my perspective of the games. It will increase your understanding and confidence even more if you were to do so. So far, you’re about the 5th person that has reported back to me that they too have hit an $8,000 Royal Flush. So I’m as proud of you, as I am of them, for focusing on the virtues of playing a lower volatility game like 8/5 Bonus Poker, constant practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” to minimize their errors, and to “up” the coin denomination during good runs in order to hopefully hit a Royal Flush while on the “bigger coin”. Thank you for letting me know of your win. I am proud of you! Well done!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎🏆

Greetings from Torrance! Hi John! Just got back from Vegas and couldn't wait to see your video. Both you and the machine were smoking hot in this session! Wow, to see that many full houses was incredible and to finish with the 4 of a kind was icing on the cake. My mom did what she usually does at The Cal and removes many buckets of quarters to get paid out. She was hitting 4 aces on double double bonus like it was going out of style. I wasn't so successful on this trip, but I did learn a lot about what can work to my favor and what could not. The machines that I played following your lead I was able to cash out a profit. The machines that I usually have the most fun with (coin drop) I hit a wall. I realized that the game I have the most fun with is something I should stay away from because I cannot gauge if I am in the profit zone. One of the many BIG tips you gave me was record keeping. Knowing where you started, where you are at and deciding when to quit the game and move on. This video was perfect. You had a beginning ticket so you knew where you started, a middle showing the play, and a perfect ending. Even if the machine had gone the other way, you also knew if you had to move on. Great job sir!

Fantastic win, John! This shows what you can achieve on Bonus Poker and bankroll management. If I may, this Bonus Poker story is amazing: Leaving the casino last night, my wife goes to put a 27-cent ticket into a penny slot just to get rid of it. I convinced her to let me put it into Bonus Poker. 25 cent coin, 1 credit, 1 bet: 2 pair win. 2nd bet, 3 oak. 3rd bet, 2 pair. At $6 switched to full bet and hit a flush on 3rd hand. I should have taken a pic of the ticket when I handed it back to her… at $51! She took it and went off into the sea of slots. So while everyone else was watching the super bowl, I worked my way up to $200 from 2 $20 bills. It’s not thousands, but someday! Thank you for posting and keeping the Bonus Poker faith!

Believe me, I do go for DDB & TDB too, but only with “House” money won from Bonus Poker. Had I been on TDB with $10 Coin hitting all those 2 pair and NOT making any money on them, I would have run out of bankroll long before hitting those 3’s. I’d rather play BP at high denominations than DDB or TDB on lower coin denominations. You’ll LOVE BP on $50 Coin denominations. But I get it, and I’m with you on those other games. After I score a Big Win on BP with high denomination, I’ll circle back and feature some DDB & TDB for you. It’s all good. Thank you for your patience.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I love the grind too! If you get “way up on them” switch to BPD or DDB for “short visits ONLY” and try to catch a few of the better Quads (15-25 hands), then retreat back to Bonus Poker with that “dough” and use it to push yourself to play at an even higher denomination than you’re used to. @johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Thank you, David. I was a little concerned that without an adequate soundtrack that some viewers would not like it. Thank you for your generous words. Here’s some more video poker stats to ponder that you may find interesting: Playing a low volatility game such as 9/6 JoB or 8/5 BP, (along with practice on a simulator that "warns on mistakes") will help improve your longterm odds against the House. For those of you who engage in such "practice" you'll find the following long term probabilities when it comes to holding a pair: On"average" (holding a pair) will convert into: 2 pairs.………………….every 6X held 3 of a kind……………. every 9X held Full House……………..every 98X held Quads………………….. every 360X held Something better……every 4.8X held The hit frequency in 8/5 Bonus Poker is: 1 in every 2.2X If the House ALWAYS won there would be no casinos. Luck comes more frequently to those who “practice” and apply what they've learned to the game. May all your video poker dreams come true through practicing.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Also, increasing your denominations is clearly a key on Bonus Poker. But your strategy makes sense. Just got to Vegas last night and heading to Red Rock this afternoon. I’m glad to hear that you’re heading to Red Rock. It’s a little out of the way, but it’s totally worth it. How much do you usually tip for a handpay? Is it really necessary for 2 min of work on their part?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
There’s plenty of players who don’t tip at all, so it’s really just a personal matter. I would never tip on a percentage basis, as they do in a restaurant because that would truly be ridiculous. And remember, the Local, State, and Federal governments are going to get their sticky fingers on your jackpots as well (at least 15%+). So I use a flat-rate system: $1,200-$4,000……….$10-$20 $8,000-$20,000…….$20-$40 $40,000-$80,000…..$40-$80 $100,000……………….$100 $100,000+……………..$100 per $100K Won The 1st time I won a $100,000 Royal Flush, I gave out a total of 7 $100 Bills to several different slot attendants. (Some even came back for seconds)! So, don’t get carried away with it, like I did. Nowadays, I just stick to my flat-rate schedule. However, at the end of the night, I may thrown in an extra “bonus tip” to the Slot attendants just for good measure. Tipping amounts are completely at the discretion of the player. Personally, I like to be a little on the generous side (because there’s plenty more where that came from) once you’re an established player on the positive side of EV.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Hi John, So glad I found your channel! Love watching you play. We play a lot of Double Double Bonus. Love hitting the Aces, 2’s, 3’s & 4’s with the Kickers! Why is Bonus Poker your game of choice over Double Double Bonus Poker?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Thank you, Gail, for commenting and subscribing to my channel. DDB is a tremendously good game to play. When I first started out in video poker 10+ years ago, DDB was my “go to game”. Even though I’ve only hit 2 Royal Flushes on the game, I did hit a lot of Aces w/kickers on DDB and those were quite rewarding as well. What I did notice early on though, was that DDB was either really really good or it just quickly wiped out my bankroll. In order to adapt to that, I started switching back & forth (on the same machine) between DDB & BP. Although, I missed out on all the Aces w/kicker pay outs, I quickly realized that my bankroll lasted 2X-3X longer, and as a result of that longevity, I started hitting Royal Flushes on a consistent basis. Since nothing trumps a Royal Flush, I decided to focus my attention on getting much better on 8/5 Bonus Poker just to see if this “overlooked game” had a hidden magic to it. Since I focused solely on playing BP, my playing improved immensely. With that, I started to branch out into playing Bonus Poker at higher coin denominations to see if I could hit better paying Royals. And that’s exactly what started happening to me. I started hitting $4,000, $8,000, $20,000, and $100,000 Royals. I’ve hit so many Royals at high denominations that I accumulated a small fortune from the game. My Intro to this video is just a small portion of all the Royal Flush money that I’ve made from exclusively playing Bonus Poker. So I got into the habit of hitting Royals, lots of them. Bonus Poker is a money maker because it has a much “lower volatility” than DDB. DDB tends to be a game of feast or famine (high volatility), while Bonus Poker is just a steady meal. As it turns out, DDB takes 2X-3X more bankroll than Bonus Poker to play it. Once I started making money on Bonus Poker it was an easy decision to drop “the thrills of playing DDB” in exchange for the “thrills of hitting Big Royals” on Bonus Poker. So eventually, the “money” became the thrill of the game, rather than the “playing” itself. The more success that I began to experience on Bonus Poker, the less and less I became a recreational video poker player. There is nothing wrong with having fun, having some thrills, or having a night out on the town for recreational play; I love that about video poker. It’s the greatest game in the world! And I truly enjoy seeing all kinds of players out there having a blast and enjoying the games. They’re out there generally (for the most part) just to have fun. But for me, and my friend, (Slotmassacre), it transitioned into much more than that. Somehow a spark went off in our heads and ignited a “passion for video poker”. Even though 2 years ago, he and I, never knew each other). I think it’s like golf, or guitar, or football or any recreational pursuit really. There’s a lot of golfers, musicians, and football players out there. They all love their games. But a few of them, somehow get turned on by it enough, to take it to the next level. Video Poker captured our imaginations. I can honestly tell you that I didn’t plan for any of this. It just sort of evolved over time on its own and became a part of me. I recommend that you get WinPoker by Zamzow (a video poker training app) and practice on it 10 minutes a day on DDB & BP. You will see a dramatic improvement in your play if you set the simulator to “warn on mistakes”. Overtime, you’ll learn to minimize any mistakes in your play and you’ll have more wins in the casino as a result of that diligence. 9/6 DDB has a 98.98% pay back, whereas BP, has a 99.17% payback. The volatility of BP is 20.9, but the volatility on DDB is twice that, at 41.98. Practice both, play both. And above all have FUN!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

John at 6.54 of the video the deal was a King and Ten of hearts and nothing else worthwhile. You held the King only and discarded four cards, including the 10 of hearts. I may be wrong as I thought the proper play was to hold the ten with the King. This is not a criticism at all as I want your thoughts on this and if I am wrong I want to know it. .
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
That’s a good question. The hand in question was: K♥️10♥️3♠️8♠️7♥️. Holding the K♥️ only, was the correct play. Had their NOT been a 7♥️ in the hand, then you would be correct in holding the K♥️10♥️ together (and letting everything else go) so that you can possibly get the Royal (holding 2 to the Royal) is a 1 in 16,215 shot. But to get that Royal you’re “throwing away” the 7♥️ to do so. Which also means you’re limiting the number of flushes you could get by also holding the 7♥️. That means you’re lowering the expected value of the hand by “getting rid of” a flush possibility. That extra card (7♥️) is creating the problem because it penalizes you for throwing it away by decreasing the number of flushes you can achieve (because you just threw away a card that can “help” you get a flush. So that is a dilemma in video poker. What is more probable to occur? Holding a 1 in 16,215 shot for a Royal (holding just 2 cards) or holding 3 cards to a flush and only needing 2 cards to complete a flush? Obviously, your chances of hitting all the flushes by holding the K♥️10♥️7♥️ is greater than hitting a Royal Flush that requires a very “specific set” of just 3 cards: A♥️Q♥️J♥️. So do we throw away the “harder” to get Royal, or do we throw away the “easier to get” flush? There is a “penalty” or cost that comes from either choice. But by holding the single K♥️ we can still get flushes, and all the Quads including even 4 Aces. If you hold the K♥️10♥️ you’re eliminating a chance of 4 Aces and many other Quad possibilities. So the rule is never to hold a suited K/10 if there is another card of the same suit in the hand (unless it’s a Royal Flush card). This sounds complicated to learn, but it’s actually not. The work has been done for you already. Practice daily on a simulator that “warns on mistakes”. Keep making the same mistake over & over again on the simulator, and you’ll soon learn (i.e. memorize) which cards to hold and which cards NOT to hold. There’s 2,598,960 possible hands. Using a simulator will (over time) make you very good at NOT selecting the incorrect cards. The simulator is the best way to master the games.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

DDB & TDB are much more volatile games and require 3x-5X the bankroll to play. Bonus Poker by comparison is a more stable game and allows me to play BP on a higher coin denomination. I don’t regret “missing” the kicker hands because I just keep progressively “upping” the coin denominations to bigger & bigger coins during a session on Bonus Poker. In that way, I have access to Big Money wins with less volatility off of smaller bankrolls. My focus is on the Net Win at the end of the session and not on the thrill of playing the game itself. However, playing BP at high denominations, can be very thrilling as well, when the player starts hitting Royals. Bonus Poker players tend to hit more Royals overall (compared to DDB & TDB players) because the BP player’s bankroll tends to last longer. Royal Flushes are all that matter to me in the game. I have hit 37 of them with many being on high denomination coin. Bonus Poker is a cash cow.🌎u

John, assuming you can play the same denominations, why do you prefer 8/5 BP (99.17%), over 9/6 BP Deluxe (99.64%). I know the variance is greater in BP Dx but 400/1 for any four of a kind is pretty sweet. On another note, I appreciate the way you give context to your videos by stating where you are playing and the amount you are winning or losing, not only at the end of the session but also during the session. Because I know how to play the game very well it is very reassuring when you point out that you are knowingly making an "incorrect" play and give the reason for doing so. Very quickly you have jumped to the best vp videos on the net. Keep it up.

You’re correct about the percentage pay back on BPD and it’s actually a wonderful game that deserves more play from me. And I’m the one that is missing out by not playing it. I learned that by watching my good friend, Slotmassacre, obliterate that game to great effect when he was behind in the count on TDB. I picked up a quick $4,000 myself with it on $10 coin in only about 12 hands. So it is a great game and very worthy of respect. Once I hit another Big Win on BP, I’ve already made a commitment to myself to branch out into BPD & DDB specifically. Another friend of mine has done very well for himself on BPD, so I am encouraged to hear you recommending it. Bonus Poker has been my bread & butter game for so long that I’ve literally have tunnel vision on it. But you’re right, it’s time for me to break out of my comfort zone, and I will do so soon. Two distinctly different games! But assuming that you’re well versed on them, I would go 8/5 BP at Red Rock first (perhaps even at a higher denomination than you usually play). If you win on BP, then take that win and go play TDB at Red Rock at the regular denomination that you play with BP money. Make sure you’re on the best pay tables available (Red Rock), then go hit Cosmo later. Hit Palace Station after Cosmo (5 minutes away on Rancho Drive). Good luck. I’ll be rooting for you!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I like BPD a lot, and it’s a great game to leverage a big win out of! However, I was already down -$2,500 from a prior session. I was on my 2nd $2,500 bankroll, and couldn’t risk losing it on just a Full House win. At that point, it would have taken a “4 Aces” hit for $4,000 to get me to switch to another game. And even then, it’s more likely that I would have stuck with BP and then “upped” my play ro the higher $20 coin denomination. Then if I hit 4 Aces for $8,000, I would have retreated back to $10 Coin denomination on BP to have a real shot at a $40,000 Royal on BP. But you’re right, moving on to other games to take advantage of short-term swings on better pay outs is the way to go. There are many ways to slice this turkey for sure!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

My general rule is 1,000 coins of whatever denomination you’re playing. 25¢ coin at 1,000 coins is $250. So put the $250 in the machine and make sure you’re playing 8/5 BP, (and that you’re well-practiced on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” to lower your errors) and then go hit the casino. 1,000 coins is usually enough to fade the swings in the game and gives you a really good chance to prevail in 8/5 Bonus Poker. You CAN do it!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

I’ve seen the game, I know friends who have played it and like it, but I’ve never played it. That’s a game I would like to watch someone play and then give it a whirl myself. I wouldn’t even know how to calculate the return on that game. The further away a game gets away from 9/6 JoB & 8/5 BP, the more carnival-like they become, especially if they have a lot of bells & whistle features to them. Like Shockwave for instance. That’s a carnival video poker game. But some of the core games that you like are appealing to me and I can’t wait to check them out (SDDB). Nice session John! I would like to get your thoughts on a couple things. First thing is when you bump up to a higher denom there's usually a new deck for that denom. So, when the machine is running hot at .50 coin then I go up to $1 coin and it changes decks I feel like I'm starting all over hoping the new deck gets hot. Does that effect you in any way? Also, can you dive into what the tipping should be on jackpots? I tend to tip a little too much I think. BTW, I did real well in Vegas last week. I left a long message on your last video. Thanks John!!!
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
That’s a great way to think of it as being a “new deck” so to speak when you’re on a hot roll and contemplating “coining-up” to take advantage of the great run that you may be on at a lower denomination. I know there are “multiple” random number generators (RNG’s) in the machines, so when you switch denominations it could be that we as players are ”de-selecting” the “Hot RNG” in exchange for a “Cold RNG” on a higher denomination. I have noticed that my “hot streak” has evaporated the “moment” I coin-up lately…..??? Then again, I’ve been on machines where no amount of “coining-up” through all the denominations has stopped the hot streak and then I’m happily flabbergasted by the Big Win. That’s a very good question, as I have noticed a significant and immediate “drop off” of the hot streak when switching denominations. I’ll have to research that one a little bit. I guess I would say that if a certain denomination is on an absolute wild tear, I would stay with it and hit the Royal Flush on it. Because every time I’ve been on a machine that’s “crazy-good” I usually hit the Royal on them too. If it’s just “moderately hot” I would still continue upping the coin denomination, maybe even “double-hop” a denomination to see what THAT RNG is up to! Great question. And yes, I remember you from your other comments and I thank you for them!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

@@johnsworldofvideopoker I always assumed that there was one RNG in the casino's machine, and changing games (decks) didn't change the RNG. I've never heard of multiple RNGs before, but I don't know anything about the inner workings of the video poker machines either. Is there a different RNG for each type of game or for each denomination? Does a machine with different genres (video poker, keno and slots and multiple types of games of each genre) have different RNGs for each type of genre and even game? If different denoms are possible, does this also add to the number of RNGs? It seems that a machine could possibly have dozens of RNGs--or one. When we play video poker on our home computers, the computer's RNG seems to handle the switch to any game (whether single line, three play or hundred play) and denom seamlessly. However, when you switch games with the home computer, it returns to five unturned cards to start a new game. But when you switch games in the casino, the machines return to the last hand played in that game (deck). Does this indicate that each type of game has its own RNG in the casino's machine? I don't change denom much on a single machine, and can't remember what happens to the deck (game) when switching to a different denom while sticking to the same game. Does it switch to the last game played with that deck or the last game played with that denom? I tried to watch players switch denoms on RU-vid but couldn't come to a conclusion. Sorry for the ramblings, if not mumbling. I'm over-thinking this stuff.
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Those are very well thought out questions and I would love to know the answers to them but I don’t have any technical knowledge on how the inner working of the video poker machines are set up either. I just know that there is more than one RNG in the machines but I don’t know how they’re used. But since all the cards are constantly being shuffled at all times until each hand has been completed in its entirety, I don’t think it matters one way or the other. It’s up to the individual player to learn proper strategy and apply it to the game and hopefully walk away a winner.🌎

Your RFs are pretty for sure….do you have to play 7/5 BP in Vegas?
@johnsworldofvideopoker
@johnsworldofvideopoker 2 года назад
Very seldom do I play 7/5 BP (and if I do) it’s because there is free play attached to it from the casino. Otherwise, I would never play the 7/5 BP pay table since there are so many 8/5 BP pay tables to be found. However, there are some casinos that only offer 7/5 pay tables and it’s their free play that leads me to play there. I’ve made $115,000+ (counting Royal Flushes only) on 7/5 BP pay tables and much much more than that on 8/5 BP pay tables. So the fact that it’s a 7/5 pay table doesn’t necessarily keep me from playing it. I call it a “medium pay” table. A 6/5 pay table I avoid at all costs and refuse to play it. Nowadays, I only play an 8/5 pay table, unless there is some free play attached to the lower pay table.😁🌎

Thank you for your generous comments. You’re correct that the 8/5 BP pay table is really the only way to go and I concur with that recommendation. I love Bonus Poker (even though it may be less thrilling than other games) you can count on it to ultimately deliver its Royal Flush rewards. I do enjoy hitting 2,3,4’s, SF’s, & 4 Aces on it (especially at high denominations). But I only count the Royal Flushes. I’m currently shooting for my 38th Royal Flush, although my goal is 100 Royal Flushes. My focus is $10, $20, $25, $50, & $100 Coin play. I don’t always have the resources to play consistently at those levels because my bankroll (ebb & flows) with the wins garnered from the machines. But when I hit 2 more Royal Flushes on any 2 (of the afore mentioned coin denominations) I’ll be well on my way to $1,000,000 in wins on video poker.
