I remember during Spring Training Snit was talking about how he just loved to watch Chris Sale pitch and how nasty his pitches were. I didn't understand what he meant until I saw him tonight. It was like those batters were blindfolded -- they weren't even close.
Notes from the Game: + Chris Sale with a FIERY REVENGANCE on his Former Team! 6 SHUTDOWN INNINGS, Allowing 6 Hits and 1 Walk while Striking Out 10 Red Sox en route to Victory! Sale Improves to 5-1 with an ERA of 2.95. As long as he continues to Pitch 5+ Innings SOLIDLY, I'd say the Braves are looking like they WON the Grissom Trade! + The Bullpen was once again NEAR-FLAWLESS Tonight! Dylan Lee and Ray Kerr Combined to SILENCE the Sox over the Final 3 Innings, Allowing Just 1 Hit and Walking NOBODY while Striking Out 3 Additional Sox! Heck, Ray Kerr had a PERFECT 9TH! Would like to see what else he can do! ROTATION TOTAL: 9 Innings, NO Runs, 7 Hits, 1 Walk, 13 Strike Outs, NO Home Runs Allowed! It Took an Overturned Challenge, but the Braves' Offense JUMP-STARTED in the 1st and didn't look back! + THE BIG BEAR WITH A BIG NIGHT! 2-3 with TWO SUPER MISSILES, a Walk, and a Flyout that JUSSSTTTTT Missed being his Third Homer of the Night! 4 RBIs was the Result, and that bumps Ozuna up to a .315 Average, 1.042 OPS, and 12 Home Runs on the Season, TAKING the Home Run LEAD from SHOHEI OHTANI! + Orlando Arcia had a Night of his Own! 2-4 with a SOLO SUPER MISSILE and a Double! Arcia Steps Up to a .270 Average, .720 OPS, and 3 Homers on the Year! + OTHER NOTABLES: Albies, Riley, Olson, d'Arnaud, and Kelenic each earned 1 Hit on the Night, while Acuna and Ozuna both drew 1 Walk. The ONLY Brave to not get a Hit tonight was, once again, Michael Harris II, going 0-4 with a K. + SWEEP SUCCESSFUL! AND DID WE NEED THIS SWEEP! The Braves Swept the Red Sox with WITS, FIREPOWER, and DISCIPLINED Baseball! Sale was EXCELLENT, The Bullpen was IMPRESSIVE, the Offense Jump-Started Early, and the Defense Minimized Mistakes. It's good to be back in the Win Column... Even Better when it's at Home! + RED SOX FANS... You just caught the Braves at a Bad Time. Nothing against the Team you've got, but you ran into a Tomahawk Chop that had gotten HULMILATED on the Road... AND WE WEREN'T GOING TO LET YOU DO THE SAME TO US AT HOME. Though... Perhaps we aren't so different after all. You've got the Pitching and Coaching to get you far... But the Offense is still missing pieces. Get it in Order, and you should be competitive. - Thanks to the Blue Jays DENYING the Phillies a Sweep at Citizen's Bank Park, The Braves GAIN a CRUCIAL Game on Philadelphia, putting them 2 Games Behind the Phillies, but remain ahead of the Nationals, Marlins, and Mets by 4+ Games. WHAT'S NEXT? After taking a Beating in Atlanta, the Red Sox will return to the Comfy and Legendary Confines of Fenway Park to take on Another NL East Team in the Washington Nationals. Patrick Corbin will take the helm for the Nationals, Who just continues to get beaten around in 2024. He's coming of a No-Decision in Toronto, where he allowed 3 Runs on 6 Hits, Walking 2 and Striking Out 3 though 6 Innings. Meanwhile, Tanner Houck will answer the Call for the Sox, coming off an Unfortunate Loss in Minnesota, where he allowed 4 Runs (3 Earned) on 6 Hits, Walking 2 and Striking Out 5 Over 6 Innings of Work. Can Houck and the Sox get back into the Win Column? Or will Corbin and the Scrappy Nats have something in Store for Boston? We Will find out Friday at 7:10 P.M. EDT on MASN (Nationals) and NESN (Red Sox)! WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN, YORK. You came into Truist Park... OUR HOUSE... And Embarrassed us in front of our Fans in April. Not Only That, Your DELUSION of being a 'Competitive' Team this Season is starting to become VERY REPUGNANT. 18-18? You STILL Believe you can make the dance? Knock Knock... THE CHOP'S COMING FOR YOUR HOME... AND WE WON'T BE MERCIFUL. It's the New York Mets... AND YOUR ATLANTA BRAVES! ROUND 1 OF 3 Between these Divisional Rivals will take place under the Evening Skies of Citi Field. Jose Quintana will step up to the rubber for the Mets, Who has been on a TAILSPIN since his Win against the Braves. Heck, he got LIT UP against the Rays in his Last Start, Allowing 8 Runs on 10 Hits, Walking 1 and Striking Out 2, and being UNABLE to FINISH the 3rd Innings! Meanwhile, CHARLIE MORTON will take up Battle Stations for the Braves, who's coming off a No-Decision against the Dodgers, Allowing 2 Runs on 5 Hits, Walking 3 and Striking Out 5 in 6 Innings of Work. Can MORTON and the Braves Make it Three-in-a-Row, and Start this Short Visit to York on the Right Track? Or will Quintana and the Mets CONTINUE to be an ARROGANT THORN in the Braves' Side? We will find out Friday Night at 7:10 P.M. EDT on SNY (Mets) and Bally Sports Southeast (Braves)! SoundFX09, Signing Out!
Yep. And so many people were mad when the Braves picked him up and let Rosario go. I liked Rosario but Kelenic has so much more potential and he is several years younger. Another great move by AA.
This time last year he was batting under 200, and this was coming off a subpar season, along with his legal troubles and bad decisions. If the Braves had gotten rid of him, no one would have criticized it. Kudos to him for finally acting like a professional, and cleaning his life up off the field. He’s admitted as much. Braves fans had every right to want him gone. Chop on!
So glad no one wanted Ozuna 2 years ago !! Sale was lights out tonight !! And for you boys in a slump , sit out for 2 games .. you will come back on fire
6:43 So funny seeing Kelenic react to catching that ball. It was like someone asked him if he caught the ball & was like “Hell yea, I did!” Lee comes on in the 7th & was like “Well, Chris had good success with his slider, let me see what I can do with mine…”
This 2024 Braves season is challenging everything I thought I knew about team sports and competition. For my entire life, the bottom line was winning games. Stats didn’t really matter to me (although good stats are nice & pretty to look at), and the only stat that actually mattered was the W. But this season is changing all of that. The Braves are indeed winning still, for the most part, but at what cost? The only good player we have now is Ozuna… Marcell freakin’ Ozuna. He is the one player that will make you question rooting for a team, and yet, he’s the only Braves player that deserves an all-star selection this year. This really turns the “only stat that matters is the W” philosophy of rooting for a team completely around. It would be nice to see our favorite players playing like the possible legends they could be (or could have been), but now when we all watch Acuna, we get flashbacks of Jeff Francoeur, Jason Heyward, Jordan Schafer - or any other highly heralded prospect that ultimately didn’t live up to expectations. Hell, when I watch Acuna now, I start to get real Cody Bellinger/Christian Yelich vibes: a couple great seasons then sudden obscurity. Sadly, he already looks like his best days are behind him. It’s tragic to witness someone who commanded so much attention on the diamond just fall off so suddenly and so dramatically. That’s why watching the Bellinger/Yelich saga was so difficult even though I wasn’t really a fan of either. And don’t get me started on Matt Olson. For anyone who remembers Chris Davis… yeah. This doesn’t look good. At all. Rooting for a team whose superstar and leader is Marcell Ozuna is not what I had in mind, and it is a painful realization (and lesson) to know that I need to reconsider my loyalties and interest in watching baseball at all.
that lazy play in center where the runner gets second has happened a few times this year. The braves need to play harder on balls like that. It didn't hurt them tonight but it could in the future. Great win, that was the only bad play tonight.
That wasn’t a lazy play. That ball was a slow roller into shallow left center and Harris was shaded towards right. He ran the hoe way to the ball got rid of it quickly and threw a bullet to Ozzie. Wong was hustling out of the box looking for 2 from the get go and is fairly fast especially for a catcher. Sometimes the other team just does something good. Micheal did everything he could to stop him.
Philly beating up on the dregs of the League is no surprise….you should have seen a hot streak coming….the second half of the season there are important head to heads coming but ATL will be in first by like 5 games when that rolls around.
Who would have thought this.. Spencer is looking like a CY young, and he went down. Sale and Lopez came into the season with a lot of doubts, and now look at them. The Front of the lineup except Albies, 1,3,4 Acuna, Riley, Olson are struggling at the sametime who would have thought that ! Ozuna ( consistently cluth, so underrated because of his past) , Arcia ( Damn his defense !! and he is hitting well too ! ) Harris, D'arnauld help carrying the load, even Kelenic/Duvall are hitting OK. The bullpen remain strong but injury start piling up, thank God for the depth. I guess this is baseball..!
Not that we were so far off track, but this type of game is what we need to get us to the level that is sooo much braves fun (Riley doing it again ++Sale also)......[edit] doh forgort Ozuna :)
They’ll snap out of it. Us spectators are concerned about their offense but these guys provide on defense too. They may be trying to replicate their performances from last season instead of going out there and playing with a clear mind.
Sale, Lee & Kerr an amazing trifecta of pitching. The sliders were NASTY. Kelenic again proves himself worthy with his defense (Eddie who?). Ozuna continues to dominate at the plate. I'm about ready to send Acuna & Olson down to AAA to get their heads on straight. They can't hit the broad side of a barn. Also, Money Mike should know better. Just lazy- all 3. Stop believing the hype. Do better.
You think that winter ball messed up Acuña’s mechanics and approach? He was killing it down there but lesser competition can introduce bad habit into your game. His K numbers are high, the discipline is off compared to last year.
@@jeremiah_12 Not a bad take. I worried about that, too. Something was up when Acuna was late getting out to 2nd base a couple of times when they went to extra innings last month because he "couldn't find his helmet". Maybe he feels he doesn't have to prove anything anymore. It's early in the season, hopefully it's just a slump and not burnout or just plain laziness. I hate to see talent wasted.
I just wanna know what be going on with the Dodgers? What be happening in that dugout when we play the dodgers cause they not better than us so what happened last week?
