To be very honest, all of their albuns are so worth listening.. like im not even kidding 😭 They are considered as one of the kpop groups with the best discography and prolly the sole reasons are their the vocal ability, (esp the harmonies) and the production. They're producers' favorites lmao. Love that ur reaction is like 60% abt their harmonies 😭 its their biggest advantage, the cohesiveness of their voices. And btw, the one that's belting her heart out is Wendy lmao one of the best vocalist (if not the best) in kpop rn (this is serious 😭). They're from a company that is known to have the strongest vocalists sooo yeah! If I were to recommend, I'd suggest you to listen to The Red (their first full album) and The Reve Festival: Finale (another repackage). But again, all albums are so so great! Thank you for reacting to theeem, love it!
The more recent albums have been relatively weak in my opinion, perhaps due to not having some producers available during the pandemic. They seem to be improving again with the latest Japanese album though.
Yess they are known for their vocals and harmonies. Red Velvet is crowned as kpop’s most musically interesting girl group, their sound ranges between pop (Red) and R&B, Jazz (Velvet). If you would like to check out a recent one, they did release a korean mini album on March 21st called "The reve festival 2022- Feel My Rhythm" and they sampled Bach for the title track.
Actually a great album to choose as an intro to their discography, versatility, and aesthetic! Great vocal arrangements, harmonies, and agility. They can all sing (not just carry a tune), and they layer and interact with each other. Wendy and Seulgi can transition from lower to upper registers at will, but they all sing. They are a true group, in that regard. Lots of R&B / synth pop, with forays elsewhere… “Bad Boy” and “Peekaboo” are iconic RV songs. They actually just released two albums: “Bloom” which is in Japanese, actually includes 5 new songs and 6 Japanese versions of older songs. The title track is “Wildside” They also released “ReVe Festival 2022”, with 6 new songs, featuring “Feel My Rhythm”. Their production is always, always amazing and sometimes a little experimental. “ReVe Festival Finale” from 2019 is a no skip favorite album for me. “Psycho”, “Umpah Umpah”, and “Zimzalabim” are the title tracks, but the b sides are incredible. Their extensive discography is rich and amazing. They’ve been around since 2014-2015 and have killed since day 1. I’m a latecomer to Red Velvet, but this album was a big part of why
Just wanted to add that Bloom is a repackage of all their Japanese tracks, all originals, plus the 5 new tracks. No re-recordings from their Korean tracks. 🙂
5:54 "Joy-filled" literally! One of the members' names is Joy 🤣 I would recommend listening to her solo song "Hello" to see how she truly lives up to her name 😊 also look up Irene and Seulgi's "Naughty" to see their talent for dance.
Miss Adlib is their Main Vocalist, WENDY. overall one of the best vocalists in kpop to date. with a crazy extensive range of 4 octaves and 1 note. a musical genius and prodigy lol. Most high notes you noticed on the songs in this album are sung by her :)
Bloom is actually Red Velvet's first Japanese Full Length album. All the songs on it are original songs that don't have Korean releases. As for experimental, that is Red Velvet. All of their albums and songs have experimental elements. Especially their latest comeback in March (Feel My Rhythm_ they took Bach's song Air on the G String and add trap beats to it.
Glad you are finally getting to experience Red Velvet. They are tops in vocals, visuals, concepts, choreo, stage presence, weaponry....all actresses and comediennes! Truly talented artists. They are the idols of idols. Love to have you dig in deeper into their fabulous discography.
5:58 8:01 14:37 16:13 - Most of the lines you were asking about were sung by Wendy, their main vocalist 💙 She handles most of the high notes and adlibs, but all the members are great vocalists too. If you want to distinguish their voices better, you can check out color-coded lyric videos (with translations)! It's easier to appreciate the quality of their individual voices that way :)
The new, Bach-inspired Red Velvet-Song "Feel My Rhythm" is absolutely stunning, don't miss it, also the brillant video. I didn't knew them before and am not a K Pop guy for the most part, but these girls are great. I also love Joy's solo song from last year "Hello" and the video for it, it's so wholesome und fun. And just found your channel and like it quite a bit too.:)
If you want to hear more of this belter member of theirs, which is named Wendy, she's got a solo album "Like Water" country ballad RnB jazz inside it. Not really experimental but it will take you a ride, proving she is one of the greatest vocalist in this generation 💙
Don't forget When This Rain Stops, her high note at the end was INSANE! Not to mention her high note in Hit That Drum that went on for like 13 seconds!
SM entertainment and red velvet especially are KNOWN for their RnB. Red Velvet's whole concept as a group is that they have two sides, the RED side, which is more poppy, trendy, exciting, bright, etc., and the VELVET side, which is smooth, rnb, darker, etc.
I have no much to say. But i can assure to you, trust & listen. That's explain how great their discography. If you really want to listen their wide range capabilities,I recommend you to listen the album "REVE FESTIVAL : FINALE". In this album you can hear their diversity & versatility. Especially the last track on the album "La Rouge". Also recent released "ReVe Festival 2022 : Feel My Rythm". Beautiful made ep, with a very interesting experimental title track "Feel My Rhythm". That track sample classical music from Bach & infused with trap. For some at first listen kinda mess. But after you understand the lyrics, compositions, arrangements & the intentions of the track. You will love it. There are no group doing like them. Shout-out to their producers for produced lots of amazing songs throughout their entire musical journey.
In k-pop a "repackage album" is like a deluxe version of an album, the perfect red velvet is the "deluxe version" of their 2nd full album "perfect velvet"
I suggest listening to their mini albums “Rookie” and “RBB” personally my favorite EPs they have ever released. All songs on those albums are absolute bangers. After that you can go on to their compilation album “The ReVe Festival Finale” that contains 16 songs (4 new songs and 12 from their past EPs so you don’t have to react to those separately) and proceed with their first full album “The Red” (these are also my favorites along rbb and rookie, these albums i’m recommending are all fan and critics favorites) After these albums, I’ll leave it to you to decide what you want to listen to next, you can just check their spotify profile because after you listen to those 4 albums you’re gonna have around 7 albums left from them ^^ Their discography is gold to the point I sometimes wish I could listen to them again for the first time. Pls do continue to check them out, I would love to see how you’d react to their other songs, especially because they have put out a lot more experimental songs than what you’ve heard from this album.
Nice to see you listening to Red Velvet, truly one of the most unique and diverse groups in kpop, also repackaged albums are albums with all the tracks present in the album, along with a new title track and some new songs(usually 2 or 3) idk if i even explained it correctly, it's better for me to understand than explain it in words lol
no matter how much i lose touch with kpop, I will NEVER lose touch with this album!! red velvet killed it edit: you should still listen to bloom lol, wildside and marionatte are two of my fave japanese language releases by any group ever
I love it, Iove red velvet so much they're so good and they are best vocal group for me and there songs never fail please do more reacts to them and maybe try react to the lead song on the album with mv it'll expail to you a lot about them The members are Irene is the oldest and the leader the main rapper the visual and the center, sub vocalist Seulgi is the main dancer and lead vocalist Wendy the main vocalist she do almost every high notes and she's the one you asked about in the peek a boo high note plus she's a good rapper and dancer Joy lead rapper, sub vocalist Yeri is the youngest she's a sub rapper and sup vocalist
The thing I noticed myself (4 years ago) and other new people discovering Red Velvet is the Harmonies in the chorus :) .. sometime they just sing in unison and most of the time the harmonies are so packed u think they're one single voice, but if u know the members' voices really well, u can still differentiate them
They are from sm entertainment so all of them are trained in singing but this is the official position of them Irene;- leader, main rapper, lead dancer, sub vocalist, fotg, center seulgi - main dancer, lead vocalist wendy:-main vocalist joy:- lead vocalist sub rapper(offical postion is subvocalist but she improved her singing so much so she gets more parts, now she does not rap as much) yeri:- sub vocalist ,maknae, leadrapper( was offically sub rapper but took joys parts in rap as she sings now ) in my opinion they have the best 3rd gen vocals, watch guide if you can't differentiate them.
Red Velvet is my ultimate girl group of all time. They are really one of a kind group. They can literally pull off anything with their vocal ability. The Perfect Red Velvet is definitely one of their best albums (every album by them is top notch though). In this one, they highlight their 'velvet' side, which is mostly R&B based songs. To see their 'red' side, I suggest you check out The Red album. It has different vibe..
Billboard article with the release of The ReVe Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm, Red Velvet once again reclaim their crowns as K-pop’s multifaceted, multi-genre-conquering queens. red velvet is full of surprises. you should listen to red velvet featuring Elle Goulding - Close to me and wendy red velvet feat John Legend - Written in the stars
talking about the intro, "bloom" while being a japanese album, it's all original japanese music and none of the songs are japanese "versions" of their korean songs per say, so you should definitely still react to it!!!
The Red is a MUST!! it’s their first full length album and my god the vocals and harmonies on every song is just amazing. some of their absolute best work is on that album. “Oh Boy” is 🤌🤌 for vocals my girl wendy ate it up ;))
Along with all the other positive things about their Discography people are saying, Red Velvet also has the most longevity out of most 3rd generation girl groups. They probably won’t disband for a really long time if at all & they’re in the prime of their career 8 years into it, something not commonly seen in kpop.
When you said ‘who was that?’ It was mostly Wendy and Seulgi on the higher adlibs, but honestly they all have great vocals. They do have songs with more English and a lot more songs as great as all of these, mostly B sides imo(they are called the B side queens)
The Perfect Red Velvet used to be fave RV album coz I thot it was their finest craft at that time but now, i think Reve festival Trilogy (2019) and Reve Festival (2022) albums have showcased Red Velvet's best genre-bending songs/ music/ vocals... they keep raising the standard for my taste in kpop music.
15:42 Yes, they are :) ... That's why the harmonie are so tight ! But they do have varying level of Vocalists in the group itself. The order is like Main >> Lead >> Vocalist >> Sub-vocalist
Not many kpop groups (idk if there are any, even) can say they’ve got a better discography than Red Velvet. They’re killing it with every concept they do.
Can’t wait for your next reaction to them, maybe you can do a many album I recommend their RBB mini album reaction or the red summer mini album both are amazing
Wendy:main vocal and she can rap also. Seulgi: lead vocal and main dancer Joy: sub vocal And rap Yeri:vocal, rap Irene:leader, lead dancer, vocal, visual and main rapper
The Reve Festival Finale (repackaged) album which consist of their full Reve Festival Trilogy is also phenomenal. That album turned me into a full Red Velvet fan, and from there on i dug into their discography and all are soooo diverse and beautiful since day one of their careers. Also to note, they never repeat concepts every comeback so you're always in for a treat lol. About the harmonies they're so known for that aside their vocals iirc Billboard titled them In November 2019, Billboard crowned Red Velvet as "the best idol group alive"
ooh so excited you did RV and this album was the perfect choice as an introduction. They never miss and they are always very VERY unique. so much talent. my fav girl group. they're not every1's cup of tea bcz very experimental concept and music yet widely loved by the public. idk if u're taking requests but plz do EXO next, any of their albums will do bcz they all slap start to finish, still wud suggest b/w The War, Obsession or Dont Mess Up My Tempo. you wont be disappointed. another hugely loved, talented and vocal heavy group.
So sorry I'm late but that's okay, girl let me just tell you... you just found yourself one of the Gems in K - Pop that's the thing this album is more "calm" compared to some of their other albums (also they do put English in their songs you just picked a more Korean kind of album, and actually all of the Members can speak English pretty well especially Wendy and Yeri, Wendy actually lived in Canada and the United States for awhile when she was younger so she is very good!) And by the way all of the Members are pretty much Aces they can all sing, rap, dance, and they are all Visuals. You should definitely check out their Music Videos and the Lyric videos so you know who is singing, you should also check out the early 2021 guide by Kpopops (they show each member equally). Also just so you know pretty much every member does high notes and adlibs (In Really Bad Boy aka RBB Irene the Main Rapper hit the highest note recorded in K - Pop history a D7 I think it was) but most of them are by Wendy (my favorite Vocalist in K - Pop) and some are by Seulgi and a little by Joy! Here are the Members from Oldest to Youngest: *Irene* (Leader, Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Visual, and Center): She is usually the one that Raps but sometimes you can hear her soft vocals sometimes I even mix her up with Wendy, a lot of people actually really Underate her Vocals they are very beautiful, and her Dancing is WOW she would probably be a Main Dancer in any other Group, she is also the Original Visual (In their song Psycho she literally says she is the Original Visual, very iconic)! *Seulgi* (Main Dancer, and Lead Vocalist): If you listen closely she is the one with the Husky deeper voice and seriously if she was in any other Group she would be a Main Vocalist because WOW, she also is one of the best Dancers in K - Pop she is just amazing, not to mention she is also the Girl Crush of the Group (or at least one of them) every girl goes crazy over her and I don't blame them I mean... WOW! *Wendy* (Main Vocalist): She is usually the one you talk about, her voice is SUPER powerful and one of if not the best Vocalist in K - Pop she can literally change her voice into anything, not only that but she is also a fantastic Rapper and her Dancing is INSANE, but also she has very unique Visuals not to mention she is very Greasy and Cheesy and we love her for it. She also did a collab with John Legend sadly it doesn't have enough views but it was such a beautiful song, she is also one of the most Underrated Idols! *Joy* (Lead Rapper, and Vocalist): She is a literal Disney Princess, her voice is so sweet and pretty high and VERY beautiful and also pretty Powerful. I really think that they should've changed it to Lead Vocalist and then Sub Rapper because she sadly doesn't Rap as much as she used to I mean she raps every now and then but again not as much, she is also nicknamed Sexy Dynamite and The Girl in the Rainbow Dress for many reasons! *Yeri* (Vocalist, Rapper, and Maknae): She is the one with the sweet Cotton Candy Vocals, she is also very underrated not only Vocally but also Rap, Dance, and her Visuals as well. Again with Joy they should change it to her being the Lead Rapper because WOW she goes off, she is also a very Savage Maknae and we love it, she also wrote and composed some songs (I think a couple of them have wrote and composed a couple songs!) Anyways I hope that this helped you out a little bit, I can't wait for you to react to more Red Velvet such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! I can't wait for more Content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy! P.S. If you ever need any good Videos I could totally help you out if you need it! Also just so you know Red Velvet are Queens of Vocals (with Mamamoo of course), B - Sides, Summer, LGBT, Harmonies, etc!
You chose a good album for the first listen. It is the most rnb influenced and vocal heavy. But other albums are also very good just different. All their discography is a constant challenge in various genres and styles (which turns some people off). Regardless of what they try the result is always awesome. You'll find some of their songs very very experimental :) Bloom being a Japanese album has original Japanese songs in it, not just versions of Korean songs so you can react to it too. And lastly that noise/sound you were asking about in My Second Date to me sounds like berimbau.
They have Bad boy and Really Bad Boy english version. Their Japanese albums are all new songs different from their Korean albums. We could not recommend an album for you coz all of them are bops. They have the most diversed if not the best discography. Wendy is your girl who does those crazy adlibs. They have specific positions when it comes to vocals--but it is just a different league with other kpop groups. But yes, they are a strong vocal group known for their harmonizing.
psycho is, if not their best, one of their best songs ever. its on the same album as "zimzalabim" which is a really weird song id also want to see u reacting to... their whole discog is diverse and also their recent comeback feel my rhythm is actually pretty great!!
You want some strong vocals, listen to their "The Red" album Want some kpop marrying with Bach air on G string : listen to Feel My Rhythm album The girl crush type : chose Wlidside from "Bloom" album And another Kpop x musical sheet (Tchaikovsky) listen to "Marionette " from Bloom album . Red Velvet has 2 concept, red are the bubbly, cheerful side . And Velvet are the mature, sexy side .
One more thing is that their japanese albums, you can listen to Bloom freely because they’re original songs and not songs translated to japanese from korean >< some of the songs on those album also come from the past japanese albums they have released (in those past jp albums they’ve put out the jp ver of their songs so if you don’t want that, you can go with bloom because it only contains original tracks, including those from the past albums ^^)
If you like retro music please do SHINee '1 of 1' album! It's thematically a retro album all throughout (or 1 and 1 repackage, it's got 5 additional songs with some more ballads) SHINee is a boy group from the same company as Red Velvet (SM Entertainment) they got amazing vocals, ad libs and harmonies too.
I'm so glad another person discovered Red Velvet. Thank you for this reaction! Also, the person who did the adlib, the person you were hoping to hit the note, and the person "who DID THAT" are all the same. Her name is Wendy. She is the main vocalist of Red Velvet. And you're right, they are all vocalists and they're really good. I hope you can listen more to their albums. ALL their albums are worth listening to but here are some of my favorites. ReVe Festival Finale, Really Bad Boy, Queendom, The Red, ReVe Festival 2022: Feel My Rhythm.
You definitely should check out more of RV. They are quite an experimental group in terms of their sound but they all do it so cohesively. You definitely don’t know what to expect with them but you definitely can expect to love what they dish out. What you have to know about Red Velvet is that they are known to have either a Red concept (overall bright concept + pop sounds) or a Velvet concept (more mature + usually R&B). Or a mix of both Red and Velvet (like their latest comeback for Feel My Rhythm which was a bright concept with darker elements, idk how else to describe it). I suggest checking out their new EP Feel My Rhythm. Or just go from the beginning and work your way up. I think you’d be surprised are the amount of times they’ve gone experimental with their sound haha. Also they’re known as the Queens of B-sides. That alone makes it worth checking out the rest of their albums.
Perfect Red Velvet is the greatest RV album. For me it is the quintessential RV album because all the tracks in the album are not your typical "idol songs" but are high quality songs. I also love that the producers of each tracks paid tribute to 80's and 90's RnB, Hip Hop and Electronic music. This is Red Velvet at their absolute prime and this is one of the reasons why this group will stay relevant forever because they are not idols, they are artists that are masters of their own craft. If there is a criticism i have is that this should've been the album from the get go not the repackaged version. 😊
Thank you for reacting red velvet! I'm so in love with your reaction and appreciation 🥰 The point that makes them different from other girl groups is their vocal ability. If you like harmonizing and beautiful vocal techniques, you'll love it! Each of their songs has a different concept. Wendy, the main vocal who hits the high notes is the best female vocalist in third generation 👍🏻 I hope you can react to the album 'The Reve Festival 2022 - Feel My Rhythm' because it's very artistic 💙
damn, my ultimate favorite group is twice and i like bp, and yeah, they are most popular bcs of their main sound but if you are kpop listener you just can't disagree with fact that red velvet have a best discography to be honest, i love their discography more than any kpop group include boy groups they are true masterpiece
Although another group is my favorite, Red Velvet are the absolute best. Best discography in Kpop. Maybe competing to be among best discography in music, period. They are top 3 in Kpop for me. And their songs stay in my head for days.
All of them gave there suggestion and gave you rnb album to react to i recommend you "the red summer" album bcz they are the summer queens and it is summer for me this is the best 17 minutes you get a full summer day experience from all the 6 tracks.(it was my introduction to redvelvet back in 2017)
I’m late but I’m here to tell you how awesome RV is. You just listened to my favorite album of theirs but the competition is fierce. If you enjoyed the songs Peek A Boo & Bad Boy you should check out the music videos. Red Velvet has lore & their videos are deeper than what initially meets the eye. You should also check out their red stuff. They have some great upbeat songs with lyrics that are… surprising lol 😂
