First Verse covered in this video:
-----------------------------------------------------
Oi u luzi chervona kalyna pokhylylasia,
Chohos nasha slavna Ukraina zazhurylasia.
A my tuiu chervonu kalynu pidiimemo,
A my nashu slavnu Ukrainu, hei-hei, rozveselymo!
A my tuiu chervonu kalynu pidiimemo,
A my nashu slavnu Ukrainu, hei-hei, rozveselymo!
Oh, in the meadow a red kalyna has bent down low,
For some reason, our glorious Ukraine is in sorrow.
And we'll take that red kalyna and we will raise it up,
And, hey-hey, we shall cheer up our glorious Ukraine!
And we'll take that red kalyna and we will raise it up,
And, hey-hey, we shall cheer up our glorious Ukraine!

Thank you! I've been wanting to have a video to learn from that I can go back to, and you've kindly given us just the song I wanted to practice a lot! I also absolutely love your bloopers at the end. Bloopers always make me smile. I do loads when recording messages as birthday greetings for family 😂 maybe I should send those to them too, for a smile on their special day! 🤗

Thanks for this, I’ve been teaching myself this song (guitar and voice) and my English-only mouth struggles with a few of the words so hearing it this clearly and well sung helps a lot. I really like the verse that sticks it to the Muscovites, can we learn that one too? 😀 Just kidding. You do you.

Дякую ) there's just so much amazing Ukrainian music it's hard to suggest just one thing to explore! Onuka, Dakha Brakha, and Vivienne Mort were my starting points in Ukrainian music. Dakha Brakha is probably the best known Ukrainian band outside Ukraine; they might be a good choice for a follow-up video. Songs that I personally would love to know more about: - ой з-за гори мисяць світить - ой край милий - по діброві вітер виє - не ходи й улане This list could go on much longer but these are ones I listen to very frequently. Дякую )

first! Red Viburnum is the most recognizable. I personally don't know of any others so whatever you want to share would be interesting. Last year I learned Carol of The Bells (as most westerners know it), is Ukrainian in origin. It's never officially Christmas unless you hear it at least once, in the same sense it's not truly Christmas unless you watch 'Die Hard'.

Really like this song - first heard Eileen's version on RU-vid back in spring then heard it at Ukraine rallies - but not learned the first verse yet. Have somehow learned the Ukrainian National Anthem in the last 11 months though so that I don't need lyrics anymore. Guess you can learn anything if you hear it enough. A clip of me singing the national anthem at a Ukranian event in Birmingham, England (beginning of the verse missed): ru-vid.comCPomdP9M24I?feature=share
