The way Burnie says “caboose?” still shatters my heart years later

Always happy to see RVB fans still alive, especially when they show this much talent!

Church plays up the “asshole” front, but at the end of the day: he actually loves them all and wants them around to keep him from being alone. Because that’s what he fears the most. Being left alone.

In his defense his anger is totally valid, I would also get pissed off if I got murdered every single day

I love the line Wash says of friends and enemies because that's what she told Tex back in their Freelancer days. When Caboose left it hit the hardest. He is the most innocent of them all and always considers Church his best friend. But even his friendship has its limit.

RvB is really fucked up for Caboose and Doc Caboose just wanted friends, lost Tex, Sheila, Alpha, separated from Tucker for over a year, and even telling Epsilon all their adventures Epsilon still treated him like trash from time to time and later left without a goodbye only to return and stay with Carolina while Caboose found a dumb AI and had it stuffed in his rifle Doc was a random medic dispatched to Blood Gulch, not wanted by anybody beyond use, had his mind taken over by an AI multiple times, left with Wash and the Meta by Simmons, forgotten in Valhalla during the hunt for the Director, and later lost in a nether dimension from a prototype teleportation grenade bringing back O’Malley

0:51 Tucker's reaction is my favorite. It's exactly how I imagined how it would look. His expression goes from a scared shocked look, to emotional frustration. He doesn't say a word, but his expression says it all, anger and sadness.

It’s worse like this. Because you can see how hurt everyone was in this scene.

Later in the next episodes caboose says "not everyone" and it still hits hard after watching this

The original scene hurt so bad but now being able to see facial expressions broke my heart 🥺😭

I love that Washington used the "You better figure out the difference between your enemies and your friends" line on Carolina since she used it on Tex. This scene shows that while Caboose thinks of Church as his best friend. Even HIS friendship has its' limits....

The scene hits hard when you see their faces. In the original show, it is your imagination, what you think they look like, that gets you. So, you can mute it, make it hurt less. But seeing the tears, the shock, the hurt, the anger. You can’t mute that. The Reds and Blues are not perfect, they are jerks to each other, but they have each other’s backs. Yes, when their adventures started they were enemies: Sarge boobytrapped Church’s body and Caboose’s horrible aim and lack of training got Church shot. But when the group was separated, they looked for each other, they worked together to defeat O’Malley, they worked together to save Epsilon and would go on to help Chorus. They are not perfect but when it counts they are there for each other. And I think Epsilon realizes that after his blow up. Yes, he has every right to be angry about what they did to Alpha and to him, but Church wasn’t the nicest person either.

He may have been harsh but he's not wrong either....

When you make Caboose cry, you know you've gone too far

Oh, no. Why am I crying in the club right now? Their faces and expressions and body language or so good, it hurts to watch them get hurt like this. Extraordinary.

Character design on point

This scene had some of my favorite acting in all of the series and now it’s animated

What I like about this scene is that it’s THE PEAK of emotions for both Church and Carolina! And even though we haven’t reached Carolina’s moment yet, this scene shows how both Characters are standing on Opposite sides due to a Past the the Rest of the Blood Gulch Crew just doesn’t understand, except maybe for Wash, even though he was one of the new guys. It goes to show that there is not just this Divide between the past, but also a Divide in Personal desires as the Gang is torn between Doing a Last Dash towards finding the Original Church and putting a Stop to the Tex Program. Or leaving this all behind. And it finally boils over for Church after so long, him being the straight man to Everyone’s Screwball antics, him having to suffer Dying from Random acts of Stupidity, it finally breaks him down to where he could lash out! He just wants this to be over. The feeling is expressed between him and Carolina, but it also shows that they are motivated by a need the others don’t share, but in the end, they help them because Closure is what they all want.

Don't know what it's harder, hearing the scene again or remembering how goood this show used to be

I love that when Wash left it was the straw that broke that camel's back, and Church just let it all out. Once he's done, he realizes what he said to everyone. P.S. I love that you make the regret so see able as well.

I bet caboose wanted to say something like I know that you change Sheila friendly fire and got yourself kill and you blame me because you dont want be call the idiot". Caboose is smart he knew how to time travel without having donut or wash tell him how to do it . he knew church went back in time using Wyoming time thing

I love this scene and I think the animation here is really well done. Side note: The hair for Church and Caboose made this feel like the pitch for a RvB anime.

Great work on how you animated this. I love the unmasked faces that you give everyone. With this new perspective, we can see how much the Blood Gulch Crew is hurt by Church's words. I like how Caboose cries silently, but Tucker is enraged. While he and Caboose were not perfect teammates to Alpha, they still did as he was told despite the fact that Tucker was the highest ranking of the trio. The main reason they even endured O'Malley was because they did a solid to Church by helping him to rescue Tex even though it wasn't their business. As Church's oldest friend, you can see how Epsilon's words hurt him and anger him because Tucker went through a lot to rescue him. He just wanted to return home but Church suddenly took Carolina's side and tried to force them to help in her revenge. Despite their friendship, Church did have a selfish side as Alpha and Epsilon and this argument brings it to light. Church becoming angry and red shows the resentment that he carries for the Blood Gulch Crew across Alpha and Epsilon. Out of the Blues, he is the one who took the war seriously, but between a rookie who got him killed and a slacker who doesn't lead despite outranking him, you can see how pressured Church is. There is a sense of entitlement that demands compensation for all of the wrongs the Reds and Blues did to him, not realizing that they helped him where it counted. I love the realization and guilt in Church's face. As much as he resented both teams, he does remember that Tucker and Caboose always stood by his side despite Church being a jerk to him. Even the Reds helped him revive as Epsilon, saving his life from the Meta twice and freeing him from the containment unit. Despite being flawed, the Blood Gulch Crew was made when both teams forgot their enmity to help Church with his agenda, and he realizes how he took them for granted.

Idk why but seeing Tucker trying to fight back the tears was gut wrenching

This scene hit hard, in the series you can't see their expressions but you can feel the emotions 😭 AMAZING WORK HERE BTW!!!

Nicely done. I also enjoy how you captured the feelings everyone had here after Church chewed them out, even if some of the things that happened also were his own damn fault too, in spite of the fact this is Epsilon, not Alpha, but he still remembers it all since for Epsilon, memory is the key. Tucker is just pissed off after all they'd been through that Church would chew them out like that and also has some tears in his eyes like Caboose before he's the first to walk off, Sarge just silently turning his back on Church before he gestures to Simmons and Grif to go, with Grif glaring back at Church with the expression of "You suck!" on his face, and even if Caboose sees Church as his best friend, seeing him snap at them like that hurt a lot, which is why he has that delay by looking back before he runs off to join the others, and how we don't even need to see Carolina and Church's expressions after they realized they fucked up when Wash chews them out by telling Carolina to think about the difference between her enemies and her friends, just like what she said to Tex during their time in Project Freelancer. Well done!

that's the same thing that Carolina said to Tex in the past.

I always thought Washington was completely justified not helping epsilon. He attempted to commit suicide inside of Wash's head and drove him somewhat insane.

No matter how many times I have watched this part of the episode... Still hits ya in the feels. Hard... I can't tell who I should feel more sorry for. 💔😭😢 I know Church went through a lot of tragic and horrible things and I understand that. Still... He royally messed up...

I think Tucker knew that church was going rampant and that's why he was silent and just left

It was such a great scene, I love seeing that people still remember this series. I was so late when I first watched it, season 14 was already out. I never really got to see the whole community thrive. Stuff like this is always nice to see. Also, I like your art style, it's pretty neat
