As badass as this is, I don’t know how I feel about a Red vs Blue show _without_ the Reds and Blues. I get that their stories are mostly done but let’s be honest, we’re there not only for the story but also the fun of watching those idiots fumble their way out of a sticky situation
Yeah, I'm disappointed because I'd been looking forward to seeing those idiots in Halo: Infinite throughout its development cycle. Plus, I'd always kind of hoped that when it came time for their story to end, we'd freaking KNOW at the time that it WAS the end.
honestly that was the main appeal the dialogue... like watching a Quentin Tarantino film even when the series got more action it never lost sight of that... but now the shows dead and lost so much of what made it special...

Geez, Red vs Blue has come a long way since its start in 2003. In the beginning, they used Halo in a machinima form. 17 Years later, it is fully animated with some motion capture. I also have a message to everyone in the RvB Community, I want to say that it will be hard to let go of the original RvB crew from the previous 17 seasons (excluding Carolina & Washington) but I see this as a new chapter in RvB's history. It could be good, it could be bad, but the one thing I think that we're all afraid of is change and yeah, I agree. This is a massive change for all of us as well as Red vs Blue. Not only that but this is a new take on the show and now, we're just gonna need to wait and see how RvB: Zero goes. Give it a chance, it might actually be better than you thought but we'll just have to wait and see. EDIT: After watching all episodes of RvB: ZERO, I have to say that I hate this season with a burning passion and don't plan to watch it again.
And every evolution made it less funny. They had to be creative within the game and rely on comedy in the originals now its like theyre trying to make a different show all together but use the RvB name for clicks. Give me in engine creativity over suped up mocap every time.
This feels more like a spinoff than a new season. I'm all for bringing back the animated fight scenes, but not including all our favorite characters is gonna be risky. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised
To be honest, I think the lack of the main cast is a blessing and a curse. Yeah, it's sad to see them gone for the most part. But at the same time I'm worried about them being written badly with such a drastic change in story telling
Lot of people saying “This isn’t red vs blue it’s more like an spin off” but has anyone considered... that it IS a spin off? Correct if I’m wrong but they haven’t called this “red vs blue season 18” in any of the promotional material. It’s entirely possible that this could considered a spin off mini series called “Red vs Blue: Zero”. With red vs blue being the franchise title for material set in the red vs blue alt halo universe. For example it’s like how all the halo games have Halo in their title but not all of them are in the main series. Red vs Blue Zero is the “halo Reach” to Red vs Blue’s “Halo 1-5”. It doesn’t feature the chief as the protagonist but it’s still part of the “Halo” franchise. This doesn’t feature the reds and blues but it’s still part of the “red vs blue” franchise. Even if this is season 18 it could be an attempt at a backdoor spin off. Like if this is received well Red Vs Blue Zero will become a separate series on its own. Just something to think about. I imagine the reds and blues are back to their retirement or simply aren’t qualified to take on these super soldiers and that’s why they’re not in this.
Thats not how spin-offs work. Yes they didn't call it season 18 but they also did not say it was a spin-off. SO while its is not CALLED season 18 it is still season 18 of RVB

It’s a one off season to test the reception on these characters. It’s like how arrow had an episode that was a backdoor pilot for a green arrow and the canaries spin off show.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad we're seeing more action but I don't really know how to feel about the fact that there aren't any of the reds and blues there even though it's red vs blue.
"Directed by Torrian" says a _lot._ Among the statements it makes: -RT is sticking to their philosophy of having different people helm their flagship franchise to bring their own voices to the project. -The action is going to be bananas. B-a-n-a-n-a-s. No wonder the first tease of this season was in Death Battle. Color me interested.

The animation is trash and they have no choreography in the fights. This is the lowest point RvB has ever been from characters to the story, its a shitty Saturday morning cartoon playing off of shitty tropes. Their names reflect more in the power rangers than anything in RVB. RT animation has been dead for years and people just keep parading the corpse around until AT&T finally buries RT as they did to Machinima.

Why did this feel like a Doom: Eternal/Warframe/Destiny crossover animation? Not that I don't like it, but it feels like Halo just had a crossover with the last three series. I'll reserve judgement until after the first few episodes.
Because that's the direction 343 Industries took the art style when they took over. It's indeed been criticized for exactly that. While art evolution is inevitable, the Halo games (especially after the first) were what I would call "military punk" in aesthetic, but 343 made it more futuristic/techno/cyber/whatever-you-call it, which people think smacks too much of trying to change Halo's identity as a series.

The one bit of feedback I have for this so far, visually speaking, is lower the contrast on the armor colors. They just look too... bright. I don't mean the lighting on their armors, either-- I just mean the base armor paints themselves. They look too bright to me. Still very interested in this-- I'm okay with a new story, and the reds and blues have earned a genuine breather-- and the color thing isn't going to dissuade me to watch it. I'd just like to state my opinion on how it might look better.
I agree, with the old agents they had a good blend with darker looking characters , but I believe it is because the animation is based on halo 5 and most of the colours in halo 5 looked really bright . don't get me wrong they added a lot of flashy lights

Season 12 was Chorus and that didn't happen. Unleash a living hell, maybe in S15 with the Time Machine and Chrovos, and their worst fears definitely happened on Singularity, but that wasn't Caboose fault. Also, he always shoot Church, not Tucker. Good day, kind sir.
Umm caboose never shot tucker he killed church in season 1 but caboose didn't even control his rifle in season 12 it was controlled by freckles get it right.

I was inclined to agree, but I can't really think of an alternate title I like better with it still being in the same universe. There is no longer any reds or blues, but the fight going on inside this season looks like it will have ramifications on their story. That being the case if they chose to name it without including the franchise name in the title I think it would end up causing confusion.
Should be called Shatter Squad instead or RvB: shatter Squad but not like they are the reds and blues, it's kind of backhanding the finess and fun nature of the groups we've come to love

@lil crispy Just turn it down a notch there. I can see where your coming from, in this 2 minute clip we don't really see lots of their personality. Really though, hold off until at least the first episode, that's when you can say the characters are bland and uninteresting

i'm concerned about the tone and the characters, it's looks more grounded than the last seasons but it might be too campy, memey or it doesn't take itself seriously enough. also they need to do a good job with the characters if they're going to be a temporary workaround for the r&bs
@@just9019 Erm, wouldn't the series turning campy be a return to form? I really doubt much of the first couple seasons could be considered taking themselves seriously. Sure there was an overall story structure back then, and it was well constructed, but I have a hard time saying the series ever really took itself too seriously prior to The Recollection trilogy. Concern about the character writing is absolutely valid, but the tone of RvB has been all over the place from the start, so I wouldn't be too worried in that regard.

Looks like Carolina made her own Project Freelancer, w/o AIs. The Reds and Blues could possibly be retired and separated. West: A Mix of Agent Maine & Sarge, a tad more aggressive East: A Mix of Sister, Carolina, and south Axel: A mix of Washington & Simmons. One: Teenage version of Old school Carolina, without the aggression. Raymond: A mix of Tucker & Grif. Carolina & Wash: Probably only going to show up in 2-3 episodes.

@Valerian Damocles Marcellus Woah, dude, chill out. First off, you should really go watch Season 17, Singularity. With the way Season 16 ends, the cliff-hanger would make this jump even crazier. “DOUCHBAGS” Like I said, chill. You’ve barely seen a couple minutes of these guys, give them a chance. And besides, Carolina and Wash are still around, at least. Anyway, to answer your actual question without spoiling you, Season 17 really kind of wraps up a lot of the character’s arcs, especially Donut, Washington, and Kaikana imo. After that, well, I guess RT *could’ve* written up a whole new arc of adventure for them, but I think the Blood Gulch crew has deserved a real break for a long time. Maybe this is the season they retire, maybe they’ll come back later, I don’t know. But taking some time to introduce new characters and plots, like they did with the Freelancer Saga, is a good thing.
Big yikes from me. This isn’t what RvB is about. The overall charm came from turning the Halo assets into something else, with fun dialogue from hopelessly inefficient soldiers. Sure they eventually became decent in a fight, but that was never the big sell from the show. I’ll check it out but I hope it proves my initial reaction to be wrong

Zero want revenge on something or someone and want to burn the world to the ground ( aka basically every villain in 90s) 3. The Red and Blue are no where to be found in this trailer 4. The new team basically The Red and Blue 2.0 5. Raymond basically a fusion of Grif and Simmon 6. West ( I hope i spell because I can’t his name clearly) is basically Sarge but meaner 7. Carolina is now take the role of a back ground commanding captain

Carolina- I mean, Carolina doesn't have Church anymore, he was a old friend... What I'm trying to say is, she doesn't have her advanced healing factor no more. So she can't heal up her injuries fast enough.
I'll watch the first episode but I've honestly considered not watching it. It's really sad that they have to change the whole dynamic and do better graphics than any show they have just to hope people will watch

I'm a long time fan of RvB, actually one of the first videos I ever saw on youtube was a clip from RvB. I've been through an adventure with the Reds and the Blues, seeing their at times quite weird adventures comes to an end made me sad. I was very curious to see what you guys had planned next, I'd say the wait was worth it. This fresh take looks absolutely insane and compelling. I'm excited to see what you got in store for us this time, keep up the great work everyone!

This reminds me of that time the creators of Phineas and Ferb made a new show that no one cared about so they just made Doofenshmirtz a side character in the second season so people would actually watch it. All I want is either the original writing quality or the amazing Oum-era animation. I don’t want them pushing characters we love into a new show as supporting roles just to get us to watch it. That being said, if they can just replicate what made the show great before the post-13 hiatus, they could have a great mini-series

@@Inqusitor_VDM As far as we know, S17 marks the end of the story of the Reds and Blues, there’s simply too few OG voice actors left to sustain it. This is a totally different team, presumably in the future, given Wash’s recovery. Hopefully this is a miniseries and we can get back to the classic style once again. But as a standalone with (arguably) the two coolest characters returning, looks like it could be good. We hope.
@@WMM-td4pk Season 13 had the perfect ending to the series. I think the story of the reds and blues should've ended there, and we could've gotten more spin-off episodes like the ones with Felix and Locus in season 14.
Cautiously optimistic. Would have been nice to see the old crew, but this looks exciting all the same. It feels like if RvB ate the early years of RWBY.

Actually I’d argue since we didn’t see a lot of it and how it was focused more on the action that their is a good chance it isn’t changed too much aside from the animation tho if they changed the comedy And stuff I’d be disappointed
EL JONAS_YT They’re going for a different story, as they overused the original cast and near everyone agrees that the real series ended when Epsilon has his final words. Everything past that was just odd donut shit and some misadventures, but nothing palpable. So now they’re trying something new, giving RvB a break and doing this weird stuff.
EL JONAS_YT They call it RvB because it is a continuation of the event of the original show. Even including Carolina and I’m guessing Wash and probably some of the other originals sooner or later. Calling it just Zero or something like that will also not get the attention of people that watched RvB before, so it’s not a good move there. It’s like saying halo reach should not be called halo because there is no master chief. Just because the characters are different does not mean the show and universe is you used tissue.
Why even call it RvB anymore? That's like calling Iron Man 2, the 3rd Captain America movie because "They happen to be in the same universe." Not saying it'll be bad, but if it's a completely different show, then why call it RvB? Because it's in Halo? That's the only connection between these shows that I can find, and if that's the only reason why it's still called RvB then that's honestly pretty bad. Everyone thinks that the only reason it's called RvB is so that you can keep milking whatever's left of that shows reputation, and quite frankly, you've given us no reason to suspect otherwise. Because of that, it now has a bad reputation. Your shooting yourself in the foot here guys. I would love to see a new IP from you guys, and I know other people who would too. But those same people probably won't watch this show because they really don't like how much you're milking the the title. If I'm wrong please tell me. I would love to be wrong. But I genuinely don't think I am here. I hope someone with the power to change something sees this comment and actually listens.

The first 5 seasons either had little to no plot or really shitty plot, but it was still enjoyable because of the characters it revolved around. The characters are absolutely what's important to this show. And just because it's kept 2 characters doesn't make up for them throwing away the entire cast, especially since Wash and Carolina are not main character. This is not RvB 18; this is a new, spin-off show, and I simply don't get why they're not marketing it as that instead of 'it's totally still RvB you guys, still watch this, it's great!' when it really isn't. Zero on it's own doesn't really have an issues (though that is, of course, debatable), it's just the fact that they keep advertising it as RvB which annoys me. Should have just called this either a spin-off or a completely new show.
I like that this is a thing with new characters, but I love how they still kept Carolina. We need to have that piece on continuity, to know that a core part of the old show is in this new show without overshadowing the new characters. Just don't be stupid like Disney was with the sequel trilogy by killing her off. Don't do anything crazy like that and you'll be fine.
Is Carolina really core though...? How many seasons before she was introduced and how many more before she became part of the actual team/group..? Washington was introduced before Carolina wasn't he?
I mean... The visuals look incredible, but I'm a bit worried about the writing. The villain monologue was painfully generic, the jokes shown weren't very funny and the characters seem pretty shallow, at least at first glance. I hope I get proven wrong though

Seeing as how so much of their story is pretty much done, literally nothing left for the guys to do anymore, and the voice actors for most of them are gone it makes sense. Making new characters leaves room for more plot lines and new stuff, if they didn’t it’ll be like Pokémon.
