Jig tying tutorial and underwater swimming footage. Bunny jigs and Bunny flies will catch any predator swimming in fresh- or saltwater: Pike, musky, trout, bass, walleye, zander, perch and a variety of saltwater predators.
This Red & White color combo is a classic pattern, and always a joy to fish, since the contrast against a darker bottom makes this lure highly visible for the angler. In turn making it easier to spot followers and turn them into takers.
Wrap a bunch of these for the new season, and improve your odds for some hot action. Naturally this combo can be tied on a standard hook as well, and be equally useful on the fly rod.
Thanks for watching :0)
Cheers, Ulla and Michael

Very simple but very effective. This would be a fantastic pattern for stripers. I throw a red and white super spook on Tim's Ford lake and catch big salt water stripe up to 30 pounds. This jig would be productive when they are not hitting top water. Great pattern Michael.....as always! Tell Ulla I said hello!

Hi William. Thank you for your input. Glad to hear you are taking up bass fishing again, and hair jigs are among the best and most versatile lures on the planet. Also wonderful to hear you include a new fishermen in the jig tying brotherhood. Cheers, Michael 🙂

I am so thankful for a man who makes nice hair jigs that are a bit heavier based on his needs. There’s an encyclopedia of small and light flies out there but so little on these type of jigs. I fish saltwater and have begun making my own hair jigs. All of them are 1/2 to 2oz heads that need some attractive materials on them. Michael’s willingness to make and DEMONSTRATE these lures is wonderful. All the best to you partner! I hope you land some impressive fish this season.

Nice one Michael! The bass and pike on this side of the pond are fond of red/white+silver with the more perch forage based walleyes preferring orange/yellow+gold. Red/black and all black jigs have their times (nights actually) as well. I usually tie my jigs with a tail and long collar (dubbing loop), I'll have to try the wrapped rabbit body. Cheers!
@MichaelJensensAngling
@MichaelJensensAngling Год назад
Thanks Hank. Interesting that walleye are keyed in on perch. Around here zander (the walleyes European cousin) are feeding on perch as well, but roach is far more important in most waters. Roach are silvery fish with a darker olive back, and common in most stillwaters and slow flowing rivers in Europe and Western Asia. Just goes to show that most predators adapth to whatever food is readily available in their environment: Opportunistic feeding. The dubbing loop tying method is just as effective, but a bit more time consuming on larger flies. I use it a lot on smaller flies, though. Thanks for your input. Will have those walleye-luring colors in mind. I had a tip from Joe regarding a hot walleye jig some time ago, and made a video on the jig I called Joe's Friend's Special. Turned out to be a effective pattern for my local trout, perch and pike as well. Cheers, Michael 🙂

@Michael Jensen The walleyes here, like any predator, will take advantage of whatever forage is available. Think that perch are targeted more often is because walleye eyes are particularly sensitive to the yellow-orange part of the spectrum and, being related, both like to be close to the bottom in similar areas which puts perch (and suckers) in the danger zone more than the chub and shiner species which live higher up in the water column. I often fish for panfish and find walleyes in the deeper waters around good perch spots. All this talk about fishing, lakes are still frozen solid, and we're still enjoying a storm that has already left 25 cm of snow and is still going strong. ...Waiting impatiently for spring. Cheers!

@@hankvana2149 That makes sense. And regarding the weather. Spring fishing is on hold again here in Denmark. A snowstorm hit us today, and the temperatures is diving below freezing for the next week. Now I feel you pain.😉Cheers, Michael

I have heard to put a little resin or super glue at the base of the tail to stiffen it up a little and prevent it from fouling up - do you have trouble with the tail fouling around the hook?
@MichaelJensensAngling
@MichaelJensensAngling 6 месяцев назад
Nope I seldom experience problems with fouling up, and even if it does happen occasionally, it doesn't have any impact on this lures swimming action. Stiffening up a part of the skin that way will, in my opinion, affect the action more, so I don't bother much about that. Cheers, Michael
