I got a pair of these about 2 months ago and I have some advice 4 anyone who's never owned a nice pair of boots. Learn from my mistakes. When you try them on in the store, take the footbeds out. Where are them for an entire month without the footbeds so the veg tan leather underneath can mold to your foot. Once the shoe has started breaking in, put the insole back inside and keep breaking it in......... I left the insoles inside of the boots and, not only were they more uncomfortable with a more difficult break-in, I didn't get the benefit of it molding to my foot as well. Thankfully I have corrected the problem and they have become the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. I highly recommend them

So I bought my pair from a Red Wing store, got my feet measured to the exact sizing and these ended up fitting me pretty true to size. The whole size down thing is wild. I feel like my toe would be hitting the edge of the boot if I size down. I’m a true size 9.5, got these in a 9.5 and they fit me perfectly.

Those are my go to boots. They have broken in so well. I thought I would miss the speed hooks, but the tongue is gusseted and opens wide. I really don't miss them. I love my 1907s. I hope you enjoy yours!

You can put the speed hooks in. If that's something you value it's worth buying and I think Red Wing will do it. I always have my pants over that part of the boot so for me I think it was worth the half hour it took me to get them in to my pair.

I bought my 1907s several days ago and I forgot to buy the redwing cream conditioner and then I went to boot barn and got the Bick 4 because I found out it is advertised as non coloring. I applied 2 liberal coats of bick 4 then let dry for 24 hours. I didn’t notice a huge difference in coloration if any, but I can say that the Bick 4 has increased the leather pliability and as far as breaking in these boots I’ve found you’ve got to condition them first before you wear them, it’ll speed up break in time and make these more comfortable. Hope this helps.

I love these. They are my go-to dog walking boot. And that is not a diss. Because it means I walk on them for hours and hours per week. In all kinds of weather. Through forest and moorland. They are a good mix of weight, support, comfort, water resistance and they are a boot that look good with wear. I am going to steal your idea of putting speedhooks on them.

@@Little_Britain74 hard to say really. I have boots from 11d all the way to 12 d depending on the maker. If I had to guess my actual size, I would be 11 1/2 d but I really don’t know for sure. In redwing I wear an 11d.

I own the 875 w/ the white wedge sole. Those are super cool. I think on these I’ll have a cobbler put on a black vibram wedge sole or another black vibram sole product to match the eyelets & the already present thin black rubber strip.

It took me about three months to break them in, it hurted like hell (my feet where bleeding, still have some bloodstains inside). But after three months And taking out the insole(1907) everything changed And I became the best walking choose I ever had. It took some time, but it was wearth it.

Loved these boots. Have had 2 pairs. I work on a river boat. So I walk on a lot of hard steel surfaces in all different seasons. That being said, the soles are absolute trash after about 6 months of hard use. Once they start to wear out you will completely lose traction on them. Leathers great on them and they are comfortable. Redwing just needs to offer a different sole with this style of boot

Thanks for watching! I think that’s why Brunt put rubber on their crepe outsole and now nicks boots has the Wood Butcher boot to hopefully give comfort sole with rubber treads.

@@GentlemansJourney ya I’m starting to see more of the crepe soles with some sort of rubber mixed in. Kind of silly that Redwing being as big as they are doesn’t fix this issue. These boots could be perfect with that easy fix.

The storm welt on those is foe…. Its a foe stitch if u get a flat head driver u cant stick it behind and see its not actually stitched to anything therefor not being anymore waterproof than a regular goodyear welt… none the less a handsome boot

Great video and helpful review! I enjoy your reviews a lot, thank you. I prefer eyelets over speed hooks since I saw on videos that Red Wings' speed hooks make holes in the tongue of the boots after a few wears and I believe they also tear the laces. I put on my 1907 in the morning and take them off in the afternoon and a few more minutes of trying to put them on and take them off didn't make me think of speed hooks yet.

I have just bought these and the sizing is interesting My feet measure about 10.75 inches. In nike sneakers I'm a US 10, In 1907 I bought a US 9 and 9.5 In US 9 they were way too tight with the insole and also my toe was touching the end. Took insole out and I had a few Mm at end. I was tempted to keep the 9s hoping the leather will stretch, but too many ppl Said the length will not stretch. So I opted for the 9.5US. With insole they are good. As the leather loosens up , might need a thin insole underneath to take up the volume. I also bought the 8833 roughout abeline, those are on a different last (23 I think) and I got US9 and 8.5. US9 is the good size. Nike = 10 US 1907 = 9.5 US with insole 8833 / 875 = 9US Good luck, the break in on the 1907 is very tough, and I've just done 2 pairs of doc martens 1460 smooth leather which are notoriously hard on the heel. These 1907 are much tougher imo

I’m glad you have a good understanding of what fits you and doesn’t. I’ve even seen off the shelf boots of the same size fitting different. It’s certainly tough with the amount we spend but I like how you ultimately find the right fit. My 1907’s were tough to break in. 🥾🥾

Woof, looks hot on that dune. This is my first vid of yours. I have many pairs of Red Wing boots and never really thought about changing to speed hooks at the top, but your right....those would be very nice to have. I'm going to reach out to a local cobbler to see what can be done. I always treat my new boots with some sort of conditioner, I'm trying different ones now to see what I like best.

I just got them and its day two. They fit 100% better than Thorogoods and Danners moc toe. My only problem is the pinky toe on my right foot. I hope they break in.

I wear a 9 D in Iron Rangers. I feel like a have too much length in the toe box. An 8 1/2 is too tight on the side of the toe box. An 8 1/2 ee is too wide. Does the moc toe last seem to have excess length at the end of the toe? I know some people prefer this but it annoys me. I couldn't find a good fit in the IR so I'm hoping to find a good fit in the moc toe

The removable insole on these are leather lined with foam. I have ran the insole the whole time. They are certainly not a spring toe like the thorogoods.

I expected it to be a bit roomier because for some reason I think the Moc Toe would be, but the Iron Ranger last 8 is pretty much the same for me. Both size 11.

redwing work Moc toes that have safety toe are made in Vietnam no USA boot only if you go with the 2408 usa and its a different sole not the Christi style or wedge sole

You should try out the 10877, you can get widths from super narrow to super wide. I wear 12 in tennis shoes, 11.5D in a Iron Ranger, and 12B in a 10877. I measure a 12 narrow on my right foot and just under 12 and narrow on my left foot. For me the sizes vary depending on the last. I tried 11s in the iron ranger and Moc toes but it was way too tight in the toe box. The 10877 have been amazing.
