hey guys, In this video I go through the install of a boost gauge to my Nissan Patrol. Boost gauges are a great way to monitor turbo boost to ensure no over-boosting. Instagram | jasereynolds_
Hey dudes! When installing the fuse tap, make sure that the far end is the end receiving power - at 7:56, flip the fuse tap the other way to get it the right way around! 🤙
Hi how bright is this gauge of a night time as i had sas gauges before and had to cover them up as they where miles to bright even when they where dimed cheers
Hey mate, yep she’s bright but bearable - keeping in mind that I haven’t wired up the dim cable yet, will do that very soon. I reckon she will be perfect brightness at dim 👍
@@jasereynolds_ I know you did this some time ago, and at that stage you hadn't wired in dimmer circuit. Have you done that yet? If so, what result did you end up with. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.
Why didn’t ya use analog Auto Meter gauges? They work heaps better faster & more accurate. Those redarc digital gauges are crap 💩 dude so slow & intermittent & especially for the price $520 or something?…. Otherwise good vid yeh.
Hey mate! I actually heard mixed things on Auto Metre and good things about RedArc haha. Mines been working well so far and I managed to snag it for a steal so I’m pretty happy 😬👍
Hey mate I don't have the original one but here's a similar one: www.machter.com.au/product/~36622?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAu9yqBhBmEiwAHTx5p5iBiRwUENpzXUKUUqNpQvZ4bOhKOAludYeyeoMvsutJlu0GX56RDxoCQsAQAvD_BwE
Hi, thanks for the great video mate. Just curious, with the spacer under the MAF sensor, did you have to cut the cover that goes around the intercooler? Obviously it’s higher now with the spacer in place (I may leave mine off for now, still thinking about it…) and also you have not had any issues with MAF codes with it being higher up now? Again, great stuff and enjoy your travels.
Hey mate great questions! Yeah you would have the cut the engine cover - however I just left mine off. And no issues with the MAP sensor so far, and I’ve had it in for close to a year now!
Hey did you end up fixing the EGT probe ? did you have to weld a bung or just drill a hole and bolt it in ? I have bought the same guage and thinking of installing this weekend. Oh and where exactly did you install the EGT probe ? 50mm from the turbo flange ?
Hey mate, yeah I didn’t actually fit the EGT probe in this video, I just connected the wire to the gauge module so it wouldn’t come up as an error. Since this video I’ve installed the EGT probe to my Manta exhaust dump pipe and yeah it’s about 50mm from the flange 🤙
Hey mate, yeah from memory you need to hold down the button when the car is turned off, turn the keys to the on position and then you push it once to get to the colours setting. Then hold the button down and it will cycle through the colours - just lift off your finger when you get the colour you want!
Just installed mine but in a 1kd hilux, i was recommended to put tap it in to the stock manifold as pre turbo egt's are what i wanna read not post turbo 😊🤷♂️
Hey mate! Noice stuff, yeah all depends on what you wanna read temp wise, I think there’s nothing wrong post-turbo as long as you know what the top temp limit should be. Most people agree that 550 degrees is around the top limit you should be watching out for on these CRD patrols post turbo, it would probably be like ~700 on the manifold I assume but not sure 🤙
This is awesome and just what I was after thank you! About to buy the Redarc EGT and boost gauge but don't think I can do all this install myself. If I take it to a mechanic do you think they'll be able to source all those other bits and pieces you had if I just supplied the Redarc components? (Gauge and pyro and anything else that comes in their kit basically). I mean like the boost connector for example. And ta for the link in another comment for the SCA 52mm holder. I was about to spend 55 bucks on the Redarc one. And umrelated to the install and Redarc...but how do you keep your engine bay so damn clean?! I am well impressed ;)
Hey mate, yeah most auto sparkies should be able to help out! I would do your research and get some quotes. The gauges are very useful. Trick #1 for a clean engine bay is just give her a clean after every time you go out 🤙
@Jase Reynolds thanks man. You've inspired me to give this a shot myself...but as I'm gonna do the EGT pyro too I'll get my mechanic to weld that on and then I'll take over and do the rest ;) been sussing out the holes in firewall and fuse taps etc today. thanks again mate. This is super helpful of you to post and reply.
Thanks mate and great to hear! I’m no mechanic/auto sparky myself so don’t take my word for gospel, but yeah if I can do it then you definitely can to haha 🤙
