Im watching from NJ. Wanted to leave a thank you comment here and say that your videos are my first source for a review. I think you've really nailed the format, production quality, and do a great job presenting information. I appreciate your conversational style that stays focused on the subject and not on silly jokes or loud intros, but is still very thorough and well articulated. The historical information is always great. Reviews are just the right length and stay on point. I've been getting into irish whiskey along with this series and its been really enjoyable. Great work
Thank for the feedback. I appreciate it very much. Irish whiskey was one of the first types of whiskey that I liked which caused me to explore more and dive head first into the world of whisk(e)y. Cheers!
I tasted RB 21 on a cruise ship 2 years ago and I liked it a lot. Here in Michigan the state liquor commission sets a minimum shelf price for all liquor sold in the state. Stores are free to charge more, but not less. I just checked their price book and the minimum price for RB 21 here is now $459.99. It’s good, but not that good! My favorite is still the RB Cask Strength. That one’s the best value in their line up as far as I’m concerned.
Viewing from Ontario, Canada. Love your video's Peter! At our government controlled liquor stores (LCBO, Liquor Control Board of Ontario) it is $245. RB12, one of my favourites, is $90. I'll pick up a bottle of RB21 after I win the lottery!
Greetings from Minneapolis / Saint Paul, MN! I enjoy your videos very much. Found you several months ago as a recommendation of Josh and Erin at Stuff and Whiskey.
Watching from Maryland. Great review. I see Redbreast 21 all the time but never pulled the trigger. Based on this review, I think I'll just get it at a bar one day.
I'm happy I got a bottle of every Redbreast in my collection, but this will be the first and last 21 I get. The same thing can be said for the 27. Review coming out next week to cap off the series. Cheers to Maryland!
I really enjoy your videos as I view them from the Hill Country in Texas (central Texas). Your themes are well thought out and not quite the same as other channels. Keep the good work.
Another solid video Peter. I am in Maine It’s a shame they have increased the price so much. I was told months ago in my Irish whiskey club to expect a $120 to $200 price increase on the RB21 & RB27. Sadly it happened. I love all the Redbreast line and the 21 is fantastic. I do not get the sulphur that you did. I have to go to Boston to get the 21 & 27 but the huge price increase I will only buy the 2 when I travel internationally and get good pricing ie $247 for the RB21. Boston the 21 cost over $400 now and the RB27 I could find in MA for 450-525 is over $700 in most places. Rather buy 2 RB15 for $135 each than the RB21 for $350 never mind over $400. On a bright note looks like the Redbreast PX will be coming back. Not sure if in another limited release or regular production but will be nice to ,hopefully, buy some cases.
Those prices are insane. I was just at my local Total Wine and More today and the RB 15 is now up to 139.99 from 135.00 just the other day. Cheers to you up in Maine!
I don't know if you are a Dodgers fan or not, but I just got back home from my sisters house after watching the game. All I have to say is...Wow! I did not expect to see that kind of performance. Big win by the D-Backs.
@@whiskeyisajourney yes Wild game! Dbacks are rolling right now! I started listening to Vin Scully 55 years ago when I was 7 years old! I’ve watched a lot of games over the years and have seen a lot of great players and games!
I was born in Cleveland moved in AZ in 1976. I have noticed there is a line with preferences. You are either a scotch/Irish person or a Bourbon and Rye. It gets very expensive when you preferer both. I can attest to that! Cheers!
Hello Peter… I am from India. Your videos have changed my way of my drinking. I pick and import best of them from US based on ur reviews. Good work. Keep it going…
From Canada. I bought a bottle back in 2020 for $170 cad….bottling date actually July 20, 2020. NCF is on the label but I can’t find anywhere on my bottle or packaging any mention of natural colour.
$170.00! Outstanding. I see a few sights noting natural color, but you are correct... nothing on the bottle. That's were it matters. Cheers to my friends up in Canada!
I'm in Maine, slightly different weather than what you get in Phoenix. This Monday night it's 68 degrees and raining. Really enjoying the Irish Whiskey series. Keep up the great work.
Currently 101 at 6:00pm. It sucks! The football game is on and I have the RB 21 and the Lustau in my glass. So I guess it doesn't suck that much. Cheers to you and everyone watching in Maine!
I never miss a video, love your content. I’m in Prague, Czech Republic. American. The most I’ve ever paid for a bottle is $175 for an Octomore 13.2. I only feel good about that when I remember that this bottle probably costs much more in the US:) How would you compare the 21 with the Lustau?
The Octomore 13.2 cost me $260.00. $175 sounds like a great deal. Thanks for being an avid watcher of the videos. I appreciate it! Just by memory I can't say that the 21 is comparable to the Lustau. The profile of the two are very different. The Lustau has more of a sweet spice and the 21 is more of a sweet oak. Lustau has a tinner mouth feel, but more of the sherry notes are in it. I have them side by side right now and I get a slight sulfur note in the Lustau and the 21 is vanilla and oak. Lustau is sharp compared to a well rounded profile of the 21. Shout out Prague! Cheers.
The CS 12 is extremely hard to beat. I've said it multiple times and I'll keep saying it until something comes along and beats it. Shout out to NC! Cheers!
Great video and rating. With RB12CS being so good and such a value superstar, it makes it difficult for these more niche offerings to compete on anything other than the novelty of big age statements.
@@whiskeyisajourney It's strange. CT isn't state controlled so you have to look for the non bourbon museums/secondary stores. At that point it's all about creating those relationships. There are also a few stores that do some sort of raffles for the super allocated stuff. All in all good, but some distribution issues. For example, I have to go to NY for things like Bowman Brothers, the Benchmark Line, or OF Rye.
Great review of Redbreast 21 Peter. I acquired a bottle over a year ago, a bit cheaper than what you paid for and definitely cheaper compared to today's insane prices for this bottle. I am curious about the database where you can crosscheck the LL codes on the bottle. Can you put a link to that db here? Thanks Peter!
A comprehensive look into a great whiskey Peter. I've tasted this Redbreast 21. I agree that it is very good. But purchasing a bottle is a different story. The current $350 to $400 asking price in SoCal is prohibitive and ridiculous. As long as expressions like the 12 CS, Powers John's Lane and Yellow Spot are available to satisfy our yen for Single Pot Still whiskey, we'll be fine.😋🥃
Thanks. The 21 was a very interesting bottle to review. Hints of the Redbreast profile, but with a lot of age and a very high price tag. I shot a bottle battle video with the Yellow Spot and the Redbreast 12 (not the CS). I think it is scheduled to come out on Friday September 29th. It was not even close which bottle I like more. I have the Powers in my sample pool as well.
Well, I have 8 right now in my sample bottles so that should be 4 bottle battles. Eventually I will do a 5 bottle blind flight of the Spots and the Redbreast. It's just a matter of time when they show up on the channel.
