Great Vlog Koa. You are extremely blessed to have such a close group of friends who surf for a living and travel with you. Way more than you even understand. The vast majority of the people in this world, even in 1st world countries, have really awful lives. I live in Baltimore and there are guys on my street corner who have been dealing drugs since they were 7. They have no dads and their moms are addicts. They've all lost close friends in their teens. They have absolutely no hope for the future. People here fight to survive every day and the kids grow up in violence. And a lot of America is like this now. And then to come home to a nice house on the North Shore of Oahu...your life is just ridiculous. You, Billy, and Nate are so incredibly fortunate. Sure there are fights there in Hawaii, but you dont have to worry about getting murdered like you do here. Never forget to be grateful for what you have.
As I look back on this whole year of your VLOGs , this one is sooo rad . Nathan winning at Shipsterns . The whole behind the scenes video presentation of Shipsterns to the pros . Billy Kempers face when they were showing the wipeouts . This whole trip with Nate and Billy and you and Jack seemed special . I know you guys will take many more together but this one stands out as a highlight . It shows how you guys are like one big family and support each other . Ohana . And I really loved seeing Mick and the Aussies hanging with the Hawaiians. This is Livin , is a standout vlog in this new world of you tube surfing . Great job Koa and Jack . Thanks for all you do to bring it to us every week .

In Oz when we say "slab" we are referring to the actual break itself.. We don't have coral reef breaks and our (non sand bottom) breaks are made from giant "slabs" of rock close to our coastline.
Its crazy thinking that the guy who discovered shippies used to paddle all the way out there and ride em chungas,and the legend didnt tell anyone about it till 25 years after

I was thinking, while watching this video that, 100 years ago most of our ancestors never even heard of Tasmania...and now you can take a very long flight, cars, boats and get to a place called Shipstern in a matter of a few days to surf. 🌍Pretty cool. Crazy wave, but also a very mesmerizing & beautiful wave to watch. This was one of my favorite behind the scenes videos you have done so far. Thank you for filming it & sharing with us. Such a Iconic contest. ps: (Please Be careful Koa showing your boards on the net. I remember reading Mick had a reporter in his garage filming an interview & then he was robbed. In the video you can see your gate open & your boards. Home depot/ Lowes carries key pad locks for your gate & also alarm systems for doors & windows starting at $15 and a whole system for $200 buying in California most likely is cheaper then Hawaii to keep your boards/home safe. I hear there are a lot of board thefts in Hawaii). Cant’ wait for next Wednesday. Take care.
I'm watching Billies face when the footage comes on screen. I mean he is a big wave man but he is awed. It's hilarious to see that but no way you would get me out there though, I'm 64 now anyway but it's not so big this time.

Interesting that those survival jackets have a deflate feature to allow diving again, shows how at the mercy of the ocean big wave riders are, an inflated life jacket is even futile unless you can swim out of the impact zone.
