RedBull Hardline went down over the weekend and this is what went down! Hats off to Ronan Dunne for taking out another win! Full results: www.pinkbike.c...
i saw the dig crew frantically getting the old track ready in time having spent months building the new track! This was definitely not a stunt in the way youre suggesting....though it did indeed work out well for RB :)
They already said it will be in next year's event, they couldn't get the safety net in time,it was going to be a weeks wait for it,and there changing the entry into it
Pay attention Donny. The track builders had to quickly build a new bit of track overnight to link back into the old track before the big drop. They re-radiused the takeoff of the canyon gap. Put up camo nets to hide the scaffolding. They have spent a fair wad of money to build it all to start with. And several riders pointed out that the only remaining reason they couldn't ride the gap this year was insufficient time to get a safety net (sensible) manufactured to fit. If you believe that.
I guess it is something that needs at least one or two tests to get it optimal when you're building a feature into a natural landscape like nothing ever built before. I doubt they have a formula. They changed the landing platform also. SImilar sorts of tweaks were made to the Hardline Tasmania track jumps after rider testing.
Great race. It really is the way for Redbull to go. Rampage will always be cursed by judges. Bernie will take a lot out of this. Bar 1st split, matched race winner everywhere else. Ronan ? Well this race is made for his skills and approach. Rat boy ! Still got the speed ! Fadded a bit at the bottom of the track as he changing more nappies than going to the gym but i for one was impressed. Gas to flat. Came as advertised !
I get what you mean about the publicity stunt thing, heard rumours that theyre running it next year with a net. The trailbuilders had a week to put in multiple corners to link into the old track. In bernards vlog in the original track walk they talked about changing the landing for a creek gap which was used to get onto that side of the landing
I assumed they had built a B line alongside the gap from day 1. Even with the nets it wouldn't have been rideable if, say, it was windy on the day - so there would have to have been a fallback (no pun intended)
God u need to watch the test video again there are two gaps going over the river / water fall, both gaps where closed and there worked over night after the hate that was drummed up to join to old landing on the track with a berm before the firs drop. Don't think Red Bull would have wasted all that money on 2 gaps for an Ad stunt? Please also review your videos as Jono never test the river gap it was Mat Jones....
Ronan Dunne is not an "Irish Hillbilly". His parents are very successful race horse breeders, trainers and equine veterinarians. In one of the nicest places in the country... UK planning legislation is a nightmare. I assume they wouldn't have been able to get agreement from the local government to alter their original plans. The track went left to the canyon, so they just turned it right onto the old track. Loads of trail builders putting in a big shift
When you consider how many injuries BK has collected over the years, and that he can still lay down such a burner, is impressive. New bodies vs older bodies
Great event but redbull need to work out what to do with folk like Brayton......nightmare qualifier but a top ten rider. Having him go first and setting a top time left Rob with a hard job of hyping up each run when nobody was in the green for ages
Sorry amigo - did you see the third attempt???? Hardline generates it' own marketing through the community (an extra jump won't bring in many more eyeballs). They don't need to do stunts like the ones you are proposing. They tried it, it wasn't safe enough (obviously), so they went with plan b.
Hardline doesn't need hype at all.... Its literally the in the top three MTB events on the planet.... Rampage - Joyride/Crankworx - Hardline..... They made a feature.... Guinea pigged it, and it wasn't going to work in the timeframe needed.... It will be in next years race.... Id also bet everything, the 90's disappear, and reformed as new features for next year.... Hardline never stays stagnant... Having clickbaitey, speculation, videos like this aren't enjoyable.
amount of money and effort on building that humongous things just to get eye balls? Hope if fixed ans back for next year. The top 90 degrees one is even better
Certainly shows how much the wc is missing redbull and warner. Same boring old stale tracks year after isnt helping for guys like me who have been watching dh since 96 there is litrslly no joy or excitement anymore.whats next week oh leogang so un appealing. This race the hype is what the sport needs by far the best dh race iv ever watched or certwinly one of.lets hope another round is added.imagen a 5 round hardline series and its fairly obvious riders kit are advanced and skilled enough to ride this stuff
@@DMs.withDEAN If I had to hazard a guess of what MrOby is talking about, it maybe how you started this video. Saying it may of been a publicity stunt with the canyon gap and they had another track ready to ride. If they had no intention of using the canyon gap, why did they remake the lip after the initial testing? why did they paint the landing, and add a handrail, why did they cover the scaffold with camo netting. Its also been mentioned on numerous vlogs that the councl have given planning permission for the canyon gap to be there for atleast 5 years and redbull confirmed it will be ready to use safely next year. As for having another track ready to go, they didn't. That was also shown in a number of vlogs the trail builders worked like mad to tie in the new to the old. Whilst MrOby's comment is harsh, I kind of see his point. If you are going to start a video with your thoughts on a conspiracy, maybe look at what actually occured first. **edit, also alluding to Jono flying through the air in regards to the canyon gap, when Jono never went anywhere near the gap. All these things add up to you not really being clued up on what happened
Not down with Redbull as a company. They did a lot for the sport of downhill but I enjoy the days of Freecaster. They definitely do some lame stuff like writer of the week or day and it’s always a female now they’re trying to push the females onto these events. It’s like female surfers wanting equal pay. OK we’ll go paddle out at Mavericks or pipeline or back door. Also I can’t tell you how many times I heard the word “amazing”and “incredible”and the whole dialogue that they have Rob saying these words I remember him telling us he had to go to a speech Coach...
