He was a very kind hearted man. He would take in any stray that he found, and helped people without any recognition. He was a wonderful person and we miss him!
Poorness tends to humble a man. If that man has a good heart, he remembers what it felt like to have no help. It brings him back to reality no matter how blessed and wealthy one becomes. That is how his humanity is measured.
I remember seeing him live on the Sanford & Son tapings. About 4 times. He would come out before they started recording and do a short comedy routine to warm up the audience. That audience would be cracking up from laughter. Especially his dirty jokes. During the acting, he would have Demond Wilson breaking from his lines in laughter. Because of that, it would take more than an hour to complete the half hour show. Little did I realize I was witnessing a golden classic. Rest in peace brother Redd. Thank you for continuing to make this world laugh. You live eternally.
Redd A Good Man a loyal friend who helped countless people. Paid rent for people paid for the schooling of children who's parents worked with Redd. Just a humble Old School Cat never forgot his friends. RIP
@@acerycam3798 what about Trump, he too dodged by the medical certification of a spur in the heel. Why remember the negative about a dead man. He was not just funny. Redd was a humanitarian who helped the needy human beings which quality is lacking in most over here. May be from the dead the living dead may learn to wake up their dead conscious and help the needy.
Gotta admit he was amazing as fred G sanford. He was cast perfectly. Sanford and Son terrific show, terrific theme music. Him, Grady and Aunt Ester were top flight.
Back in the mid 60's, my ole man sometimes brought his lodge brothers over and he played some of Redd's party lp's. My brother and i would be out of sight listening. We would be laughing at those jokes we understood ( no foul language, just blue, sexual humor). My ole man would come up and chase us away. Later in life as i listened to those lp's on CD, i really see what a comedy genius Redd was, those jokes could have you on the floor holding your gut, in tears. RIP pop and Redd Foxx, great memories.
I'm so used to seeing him walk like Fred Sanford that it felt odd at first to see him walk normal to his interview chair. As Redd Foxx, he sure does have a confident, sexy walk though! (PS: We miss you, Redd!)
Redd Foxx was the best. I used to listen to his records back in the 70s and will never forget his jokes. One of my favorites was making sandwiches at the drive in.
Long live Redd Foxx...a great comedian and character actor...I wish those production "dummies" would have cast him in more roles. He could do anything. Glad that Eddie Murphy gave him that role in 'Harlem Nights'...his banter with Della Reese was almost as good as his banter with his friend and actress that played "Aunt Ester" in Sanford and Son... Great stuff!
Redd Foxx was from the West Side on Enright, not to far from what is now the Delmar Loop, if you ever come to St. Louis visit the Loop, you’ll see Redd Foxx star on the ground here.. 🥰
Just left Tallahassee FL and got to see Ray Charles statue and walked passed the house he grew up in. I love stuff like that!! Where exactly is his star located?
one of the GOAT'S. I watch Sanford all the time - never stopped. Brilliant performance from him - a virtuoso. Shame he died during Royal Family...that show was just getting traction.
Mannnn back in the days when you could puff a heater on live tv like drinking a glass of water & nobody looked down on someone for it, that’s how different the world is now 😤
As a kid I remember Sanford and Son was a great show. I remember Blind Mellon Chitlin records. Side note: I would love to get his Redd Foxx BBQ sauce back on the market
l love 10 minutes away from his house he bought here in Vegas. love redd. real rate company owned the house now. it's a long house. had a pool they took out in the back yard. it's very paculier.its on the end of a 4 way stop..you would think he have a bigger spread. you can walk up the driveway see his hand prints in cement.near front door. just one long house 1 floor. he's buried about 7 minutes away here in Vegas. next to his mother.
I wonder if Redd was living in that house in 1979? Don may have posted this elsewhere, but this remains one of my favorite Vegas stories ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WlbpCq5xNnE.html
Man I love Mr red fox he is so much as a king in the comedy anything I remember being 4 yrs old and my mom will b watch Sanford n son n then they would show it on bet when I was in the 6th grade early in the am and smoke on the good Reggie cuzz doe wasn't around then n me n my best brother/friend Chico Albert Sanchez would watch dat shit n laugh our ass's off going to the bus to school
"My mother has had a heart attack every day since 1922". - Redd Foxx " Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya honey". - Fred Sanford "I can always go back to armed robbery [if the comedy thing doesn't work out]". - Redd Foxx
Sanford and Son is one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and I first saw in around 2006. Redd Foxx was a very dirty man, but from everything I've read he was also a really generous man.
thank you ,Don. my mom and uncle adored redd foxx since i don't know when. it makes it confusing when a performer comes on a show railing at producers of records he'd like you to purchase.
@C. Buck Hyres thank you for all yer accumulated info regarding Redd. once i was a couple months late paying state tax. the fiscal tax board took it from my checking and charged me plenty for doing it. i pay early now
@@tedkier3264 And Trump pays only 800 dollars and litigare. When did IRS not come after the AA men who were successful. Redd Foxx the comedian, and then the boxer Lois --, then the Nat King Cole. later was smart enough to get smart lawyers and kept his homes. Tyranical is one word for such a behavior of the Government against Blacks. Why ? after centuries this Tyranny is still showing its nasty face.
I would have never gone to see his night club act. Too rank to see. But he was a brilliant actor. "Sanford and Son " is still one of my favorite of the old sit coms.
Plus he faced enormous stress due to the IRS seizing his house and assets. He even was very upset due to the producers from 'The Royal Family' tv show he wason. that he suffered a fatal heart attack that claimed his life. R.I.P.
Sanford and Son was great. Its so weird how he is nothing like Fred Sanford in real life. But he plays the character so well you believe it. RIP Red. Your show was hilarious. Sanford and Son I have not seen the stand-up act. Although I am sure its hilarious.

Although I watched most of Sanford and Son, I was never a HUGE Redd Foxx fan, something about him rubbed me the wrong way (I preferred Lamont. Ya, I'm that guy). However, I recently watched two interviews of other people (Pat Morita and Della Reese) talking about him, the real him, and so I've come back to watch some of the clips I watched back then that turned me off, and it's completely turned me around on him and his shtick. He was one of the nicest people in Hollywood and I misinterpreted so much.
