i think honestly Smile is a better PROJECT but Pet Sounds is a better ALBUM if that makes sense. PS is banger upon banger but Smile is a bit more experimental and could be hit-or-miss for people

Whether finished or not, to be so dismissive of SMiLE when it has several contenders for greatest song of all time feels blasphemous. Also Late Registration dismissal is corny, it’s just as good if not better than College Dropout.

Something that never fails to make me question a person's taste in music is them loving Pinkerton. It is a legitimately terrible album. It sounds like a terrible garage band jamming while an 18 year old who just lost his virginity songs some iam14andthisisdeep lyrics. And Rivers was 26 when he wrote them!

Pinkerton is a good album and I like it more than Blue. Blue is way too clean cut and poppy for me personally and some of the songs are massively overplayed. I prefer Pinkerton's heavier sound and more emotionally charged music/lyrics. I don't think Blue is "objectively" better. It's definitely subjective. There is a strong argument for either album.
Except you literally can, do you know how many albums are that? Its a male dominated scene and loneliness is a massively expressed emotion, there have been top albums about that since the 60s and 70s in classic rock. Weezer is just whiny about it.

Public awareness should be taken into account for this type of list. Unfortunately, nonmusic fans have never heard of gybe or death grips. And even if we consider them to be of slightly inferior quality, it doesn't overturn the fact that Michael Jackson's Thriller is the best-selling album in the world, so it should be placed high on this list.
There's not a single lyric on Pinkerton that could be reasonably interpreted as misogynistic. Fantano loves to judge music by weird tribal associations like a teenager.
It would be nice to get a stereo version though. I think that the technique that was used to separate the stems on Revolver and the new 2023 Red album, could be used to create a stereo version of Smile.
there's no joy division! not even a single new order! almost every pink floyd albums aside from DSOTM are quite literally flawless and should be put above so many of those. no simon and garfunkel is CRIMINAL tho. bookends is LITERALLY a perfect album and so influential in many ways. also, fight me but NFR is better than litreally any taylor swift albums ever.
PINKERTON IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN BLUE. BLUE HAS BAD SONGS LIKE IN THE GARAGE AND PINKERTON HAS NO MISSES. PINKERTON IS SO MUCH MORE CATCHY AND RAW.
My controversial take is that the only Kanye album worth being in the top 100 is Kids See Ghosts And I actually really like Kanye’s music but as a whole collective not all his albums are that great
