These sorts of threads and the "remove prayer flicking / tick manipulation" comments always go hand in hand i feel. And i think those comments are the BEST example of why "the community does not always know best" is a good sentiment. I don't tick manipulate, I barely ever prayer flick. I know how to do both and am confident to do them in regular situations. Have gotten inferno, 1 ticked a slayer task on an iron, tried pretty much all normal tick manipulation methods (none of the CRAZY multi-skill stuff, but simple stuff like 1.5t Woodcutting etc.) and i think they're great. Do i do them normally? Hell no, i prefer "ass in chair" skilling, relaxing and watching content. But that doesn't mean I think others *shouldn't* be able to. Its good to have those options and it appeals to more players that way. I will continue afk'ing redwods, and someone else can smash out a 6 hour session of 1.5t Teaks. Thats the beauty of the variety in RS, and the people that want to remove that often have no actual backbone of an argument except "its a bug so it should be fixed" as if games haven't embraced bugs due to the community loving them before.
Man I hope that Jagex does enable the creation of custom worlds, private server-esque, like they mentioned during the winter summit. I would fucking love to see "Reddit World" where the game is just clicking a tree and idling for 8 hours without tick manipulation, or clicking on a boss and all you can do is eat food and drink pots. Glorious.
Don’t forget how Reddit would use these custom worlds as a way to push their dumb garbage into the main game. “See Jagex my world of 20 people love killing this AFK boss with none of that prayer flicking sweaty crap, this just proves why prayer flicking is bad for the game.”
Just ran into this video while sitting on the toilet, high as fuck. And I loved it. You hyped this drink up to us as this super cool healthy soda and then just call it ass. Fucking love it mate hahaha
I don't think clue scrolls should be stackable. It takes away from the magic and distraction and diversion aspect of clues. The expected value of a medium clue is 215k+, the expected valued of an elite clue is 750k+. They're just too valuable and common to be made easier imo
i like the idea of stackable clues with a stack limit, like 3-5. that way you don't feel bad about not wanting to leave a slayer task when you get one, but you don't end up with dozens over time to where it starts feeling like a chore when you decide to do them.
I think that our character casting from his hands even while holding a staff is a uniquely "Runescape"esque feature. It makes using Tridents or other charged staves more noticable because they act differently, so those items stand out compared to 'regular' staves. It is dumb but that's part of the games quirky charm.
Happy birthday man! Hope your day is a memorable one! Don't stress about getting older. A lot of us are about the same age, still playing RS. It's not the number that matters, it's who you are as a person. :)
Olipops are my favorite soda! The flavors are much better than alternatives, and each soda has 9g of fiber. Target has them on sale most weekends 10/10 would recommend
IMO, stackable clues would be perfect as an unlock. It could be something like "Complete X amount of Y tier clue to unlock the ability to toggle them with Watson." Or "SACRIFICE X amount of Y tier clues to be able to toggle stacking them."
Slayer SUCKS pre 99. Ironically, I think the thing that kills it for me is how OP the slayer helm is. If I didn't feel so pressured to get slayer tasks for stuff like basilisks (btw FUCK boosted slayer drop rates), lizardmen shamans, k'ril, etc I probably would be able to just chill, but instead I have to play roulette on which combat content I'm allowed to efficiently do. Maybe if there was more task choice it'd be excusable, but instead I'm combat level 115 and still don't have a fire cape because I can't justify spending two hours in fight caves when my next slayer task might just be the jad task I've been waiting on from 50-76 slayer. anyway, happy birthday sae bae, you're a gem
My hot take is I hate when they want to make bosses/weapons new and different introducing things such as venom, super dragonfire, burn and etc. Was just thinking about it because I just voted no on burning claws.
Saeder, have you ever tried Yerba Mate? It's a great alternative to energy drinks. It's a tea that's naturally highly caffeinated. I highly recommend the Guayaki cans, the Bluephoria and Revel Berry flavors are amazing and really energizing.
On quests without guides: some current quests are designed so terribly I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Newer quest puzzles are exceptionally better though. I would like to see a settings option that highlights who to talk to and where to go but removes the puzzle guides
I don't think the easter eggs should really be a shortcut like you suggested in one small favour, because then the guides would suggest to do that and no one would do the actual quest. Except if it's something very difficult to get like a jar of dirt or a pet or a really expensive item. The normal way should still be the easier way, but if you went out of your way to get that other item/requirements then you can skip a very small part.
Damage rolling on cast vs on hit seems to be misplaced irritation. Some projectiles pre-calculating damage while some damage on hit is overall good for the game. It adds a way for devs to vary content and add specific challenging bits to pvm in a game that is limited in mechanics. Osrs needs variety in pvm to keep things interesting. Some attacks can be seen and then protected against as it hits, and some attacks are based on visual or audio cues. If all damage was rolled on hit, it removes any and all need for unique cues. It feels like the frustration comes from the instances where you can't control whether you take damage. People don't really get mad at things like hydra damage being rolled on attack because you have clear ways to avoid the damage. The fight feels like it is in your control, and you are limited by skill. People get mad at things like zulrah ranging on mage phase where you can just take off prayer damage, and there is no way to protect against it. Chip damage can be ok when done correctly, but getting hit b2b2b 40's in CM's because olm wants to jad you isn't engaging gameplay. Things like leviathan and muspah have chip that will limit your trip lengths, but it doesn't typically feel unfair.
For prayer flicking i think 1-tick flicking for no prayer loss at all isn't the best. Devs have talked about it before and how it limits design because any prayer can't be fully balanced on cost - because it will be completely free for some and incredibly expensive to use for others. Like they would be very unlikely to release a piety+ because say its 5% all categories - that can be just a free +5% everything. They generally want tradeoffs, but for prayer cost is basically not a tradeoffs of you 1-tick flick. They could totally make new prayer not allow ot or cause immediate drain, or drain on proc, but there's always been dexent pushback of making a bunch of otherwise similar features work totally differently from one to the other. Like items being used in the wilderness. I think "lazy" flicking is fine because it's efficient use of prayer, not I'm going to ingore prayer drain entirely. Flicking is good skill expression, and should totally conserve resources, but ignoring balancing levers entirely feels a bit excessive in my opinion.
2hs do have a use, but I think you could make a similar point about other early weapons instead, like battleaxes, longswords, claws. If they ever tried to release early game "raids"/content, I think it would be cool if you had a case where you'd switch to your adamant claws which you just unlocked through Death Plateau. Idk, make them a double hit weapon, make battleaxes good for high defense, ect. And while it doesn't make sense for 2h's to be high DPS, I think it would be kinda interesting if longsword were kinda like saraswords, and they become 4 tick if you aren't wearing a shield. Like, maybe it's very slightly better offensively than a scim with no offensive shield, but usually not worth the loss in defense. Maybe not that, but you get the idea
I like the one hour drop timer for clues way more than stackable clues, though if it were lowered to like 10 mins i wouldnt mind. I just dont like juggling master and then it despawns cus of dragon eye step or something (pre update)
While I agree on the projectiles thing that it *should* be standardized, the problem is that encounters are balanced around whether the damage is calculated on the animation or on the projectile hitting you. Like when the projectile hits is the more intuitive way for sure, but if you do that, basically everything that isn’t Raids or a DT2 boss becomes SUPER trivial if you can just react. Like Vorkath and Zulrah are zero damage bosses with very little skill at that point. Also, on the CAs one, while I realize we do have team content and I have no issue with team content having CAs, I think it’s dumb that there are CAs your team can fail for you. Like you can run ToB perfectly, but if your teammate gets hit by a Xarpus poison, YOU fail YOUR achievement. Why???
Puzzle rooms could have a purpose if they were given time restraints & tiered rewards (skill/damage boosts) based on the time it took to complete the puzzle.
On the point regarding quests alternate path/endings legends quest has obscure quest path that has just been uncovered due to the dude that does quests with no wiki/guides. Pretty cool imo
I think it's fine that there are some projectiles that damage on hit and some on cast ( from monsters in section 12:50) It adds more design space and is used in completely different situations
Agreed. I think an important thing for Jagex to consider is making sure its obviously differentiated. The main way I explain to anyone whos ever confused about it on Reddit is "does the boss indicate what it will attack with in any way? You can probably pray it before it hits you. Does it not indicate its attack style in any way? Its probably calculated its damage as soon as the animation starts". Olm does the latter. Verzik does the former. For example. Verzik indicates range/mage, then shoots projectile, and you can flick pray while projectile is in the air. Olm just shoots a projectile and you don't know mage/range until its in the air. This is fine as long as this design remains consistent (which im pretty sure it is currently)
Happy birthday Saedor! Hope you have a great birthday brother Despite not being a religious man, I pray you find a tasty beverage to quench your thirst on this disappointing drink review day. These other drinks ain't got shit on Monster!
Hot take: we should be able to commit heresey and create the missing god variants of certain items. e.g. seren and guthix hilts for the godswords, zamorak/guthix armor as a counterpart to bandos/armadyl/justiciar/virtus/crystal armor, variants to the (blessed) saradomin sword and armadyl (zaryte) crossbow, etc. I know that Seren and Guthix have no lore reasons to have their own godswords. But I'm not asking for the lore to be retconned to make those exist, I'm asking for the player character or an npc skilled at crafting to realize there are 5 godsword hilts but at least 7 major gods and for the curiosity of what could be to lead them to create the missing hilts. It doesn't matter to me if it doesn't make sense. We're talking about a game where a regular weapon seed can't make a sword and an enhanced seed can't make a halberd. A game where you can take an Armadyl Crossbow and Bandos armor and use them to make Zarosian items or break down Armadyl armor and use it to make Masori stronger (which is aligned with the desert gods). So from my perspective it's not that ridiculous to let us sing a crystal seed into a Seren hilt. At the very least I want there to be a way for us to TRY to make these items and for the gods to punish us for trying. Until then, my dream is to dual wield Guthix and Seren godswords and then roleplay as a beyblade. Oh and let me keep the Stone of Jas as a pet rock plz. Edit: Inquisitor armor is literally zammy aligned justi, scratch that.
I have 3 hot takes, revert blowpipe nerf, buff Chambers mega rares to 1/150. Remove Crystal armor entirely from the game and allow BofA to just be used with arma
@@jdc673 i think it would make sense canonically too because fire melts ice and entangle looks like tree roots which also burn to fire, and it would give a niche item more use. i think they would probably have to balance it a little tho cuz it would just render all freeze spells useless
18:40 the ability to have infinite prayer by flicking properly is what I think should be removed. You shouldnt be able to be invulnerable on 1 prayer point
im gonna say it, and im gonna be angry while saying it. i dont fucking understand why they are so against stackable clues? 99% of the time when i get a clue scroll drop i dont feel like doing it right away so i will leave it in the bank for awhile and then maybe when im feeling bored ill go do the banked ones i have. However I have recently noticed because of an update i am now able to see when i would have received a clue scroll drop from a monster but didnt because i have ones banked… this happened to me so frequently that i turned the setting off because I dont like feeling like im forced into doing my clues immediately or else I lose future clue drops. I also feel like i oddly get very lucky with clue drops so if i leave a slayer task to go do a clue i got then i return to the task only to get another clue within 5 minutes i feel like im being essentially manipulated into wasting time on clues instead of things id rather do. it doesnt help that i actually dislike doing clues too because they can be tedious and i typically dont get lucky on anything so like yay i continuously waste 10 minutes or so depending on the clue to get 60-100k of loot Its weird that they thought it made more sense to just make clue juggling better instead of just letting them stack. why are they so against this? -tldr- -I dont like switching activities to focus on clues i got immediately -I also dont like losing potential clue scroll drops because I dont want to do the ones i have immediately
