guys please stop talking over him mid story. Id much rather hear his story than your reaction. Edit: The most interesting questions about what happened to old J Mods and you guys cant even stop talking long enough to let him answer the dang question
Agreed, and i feel like Raiksey doesnt listen very well to begin with. Regarding the duel arena, Mat K says multiple times that deleting the duel arena (or putting a limit on the amount) would move those players to a different area, where they would try and do the same thing and could cause even more destruction to the vulnerable people of addiction . Then 10 minutes later Raiksey asks "if you could eat the red pill and remove the duel arena, or swallow the blue pill to keep it, what would you do?" What an absurd question, that was already answered.
It was an interesting watch. My only advice would be try not to cut-off a guest mid-answer, let him finish his ideas/sentences before you interject. Will really help with the flow of the podcast.
this, so much there were so many points where i was just thinking to myself "holy crap let him talk" or "whats the point of asking a question if you're just going to talk over the answer"
Its not necessarily easy to interview somebody in this kind of format when initially they are not formed in any way for this, but I support the fact that letting the guest talk more (even more when it's an iconic/important figure as Matt K was/is) will help the flow of the show.
@@Born... Oh, I meant the zoom format where there is delay and everybody interrupts everybody. I have weekly zoom meetings and this was an issue I observed in the first few months of usage. Plus being three hosts and not any of them having the lead on the interview makes it even more scuffed.
I absolutely love Mat K. It's selfish of me to wish for him to still work at Jagex when I know he's moved on and happy. His twitch streams are phenomenal; a friendly, humble, hilarious British man who knows damn near every tiny scrap of the entire history of this game. HIGHLY recommend his streams if you really love this game. He is a master.
Yup, he also reveals how much inside shit theres going on inside jagex lmao. Create a game which people can RWT gp, its like win win win situation. They profit off membership fees, then they can also do inside job shit to RWT themselves etc.
Conspiracy theory: Mod Matt K is a lizard and creates the bots with his "new" super computer job. He is still with Jamflex and uses his "new" job as a front for bots so they can boost their player base.
Great podcast! Loved it! One thing that is slightly hard to listen to is when someone is making a point or replying, another person jumps in and speaks (even briefly) and the whole audio is unintelligible, not sure if there is any remedy but it seems like on other podcasts it doesn't have as much of a blocking effect
Mod Gee was the artist who did the T-Bow glitch. Watch Bankstandin' episode with Mod Gee and then Mat K backtracks with: "while SHE was being trained, um or he I cant actually remember who the new artist was"
wait wasn't it the one who was training her the one that did it? because K said the trainer spawned all the bows as an example of what not to do then forgot to remove one
A bit late on the reply, but I believe it was Mod West. I recall them talking about the tbow glitch on a Q&A livestream, and they were making jokes about 'west'
This took me 3 sittings to get through but glad I did. Mod mat is such a great speaker can answer any question even if that is he has no answer. Side note. Can you guys get evscape back on after br3 went down and it's been 2 years since last seen him.
2:05:33 the final areas had to be both f2p and multi. that limited them to fally/barb/wildy/al kharid. the palace bottleneck was 100% an oversight and not a calculated choice to give anyone an advantage. iirc, the final area was leaked because the environment was tweaked in the update ahead of the finale and someone noticed.
Yeah that’s what I had heard as well. Rot members noticed the AL Khalid palace doors were removed prior to the final hour. At least that was their narrative!
Mod Mat K is so bored of listening to these dudes half his age preach at him about gambling in OSRS.. and they're too immature to realize he's already answered the question.
Awesome podcast guest this time! I agree with the feedback about not talking over the guest. Obviously, there's a huge learning curve to the whole interview thing. I might recommend having each host and guest record their own audio on their end (and send it to the edtior after) so that you can edit the voices more clearly in post. That's what professional podcasters do to ensure great audio quality.
For gambling-addicted players have an NPC to talk to. Let's say a player knows they're addicted, they talk to the NPC and the NPC can "lock" the player out from staking for like a year or so.
im loving these podcasts but every small sound u guys makes completely cuts off matt k's mic, theres like 4 times where i had to rewind over and over to try to hear him but to no avail... :( still love the idea, good work
Mod Mat k should have a statue of him erected in the legends guild. The man did so much for the game it cannot be overstated. Mod mat k, Mod Ash and the Gower brothers. also me, I should be in there too.
1:01:25 Duel Arena and gambling. Allowing under 18's to gamble and start gambling addiction ready to lose there house's and F**k there lifes ups in the future. There should be gambling care from jagex and time out off the duel arena. You should be allowed to set your own stake caps so you cant keep chasing your losses and then RWT for more gp. Or put into how much you want to lose a month.
1:55:00 whoever you are. If you're judgemental like that, then it speaks volumes about yourself. Everyone gets one chance, which he blew it. But you didn't KNOW it at the time. So who else did you judge that had a smug face etc?
Sorry but this was just horrible to sit through because you guys seem so full of yourself that you continuously interrupt your guest. What's the point of having a guest if you don't let them speak? Please learn basic interviewing etiquette... you'll have a much more enjoyable show!!
okay granted this was a casual podcast via their own home but goddamn. ricecup is super unprofessional. interrupting, using slang, don't get me wrong, i use slang like yo & bro too but thats with my close circle of friends.. not with someone i don't know thats a lot older than me/someone whose a guest. he literally has bed head as if he just woke up & if you look at 1:57:46 you can seem him clearly browsing away on his computer. like seriously hes taking the time out of his day to do this (whether or not hes getting paid to do this is an entirely different story) but will you give the man your undivided attention?
Based Mat K realizing you need to fix people and not symptoms. I *love* his view on gambling addiction. You can't just remove every symptom of a problem, and then pretend it'll magically solve itself afterwards
Loved the podcast, but to Go along with everyone else’s comments, for future reference please try not to talk over your guest, it is extremely rude and it also cuts off their train of thought, for the most part people would much rather listen to the guest talk more so than the host, that goes in the show but other than that keep up the great work
Great video, but one note if I may. Allow the guest to finish his comment before asking another question/commenting on what he said. Over talking a lot in the video.
this could be an even better and more polished show if you removed ricecup, he constantly interrupts and can't ask a question put him behind the scenes to write questions or something
If bots ended tomorrow I’d be glad i got all my 99’s while the materials were “cheap” lol. People don’t ever appreciate what the bots do for the economy, as annoying as they are. 🤷♂️
That's fortunate for you. However this logic isn't really accurate. You appreciate the bots in this case because you benefitted from them due to their depreciation of in game material cost allowing you to accomplish more for less whilst another player who would have legitimately earned/looted those materials will then profit significantly less.
You'd be able to get the 99's even without the bots because all the items you grind for and sell would be worth more allowing you to purchase a 99 at a higher price but in around the same amount of time
@@MrMakoto2 Yeah people don't understand that the value scales pretty linearly. Resources more expensive = Gold is more valuable = Nothing has really changed except you're now working with larger values.
@Mod Mat K I respect you a ton and loved your streams. But I think the focus on the players who consume the new content shines a little brighter than the players who truly love to put in a days work to gain good gold/hr like picking flax or any resource gathering. We're here! we're just not the ones that make noise.
Why dident osrs hire Adam and integrate his client into their own and just call it "the jagex client", since he dident make any money from the client anyway I figure he would have wanted that?
Raiksey.... RWT increases the cost of highly sought after items. Because your now competing to own the item with someone who just spent $1000 bucks for 4b venezuelan gold. They will spend you out of the market bud.
the economy without bots would be so much more balanced - a lot of good moneymakers for skillers, because now even 99 runecrafting is just plain garbage when you can afk gargs or anything like that, lol.
The thing is that while basic moneymakers would profit more, the prices of everything would go up. So you make more money, but whatever you want is also more expensive.
Soooooooooo when's Mat coming back to fix those problems? Seeing that we're at 2.1k now, can you fix the entire economy too please? Thanks Mat you're the best. Only just found your podcast btw guys. Glad I did.
Great video, haven't played the game in almost a year after playing on and off for 15 years. Only issue I had was felt like Raiksey talked and interrupted way too much, aside from that loved hearing from Mat K and some great questions
Great podcast! Mat K's contributions and further insight into OSRS is incredibly impressive and interesting. It'd be nice to have timestamps, but I will still watch the 3 hours regardless. In the future though, timestamps would be a good addition.
The guy who suggested to make staking undesireable is a fool, these botfarms have invested 100s of thousands of dollars into the game, they rnt gonna just pack up and turn tail... THEY WILL JUST FIND A NEW EXPLOIT
Jagex should rework pvm drops and skilling. Bosses should only drop uniques and skilling should be yhe main activity to gather resource. Upgrade how much ressource you can farm per hour with the same xp rate (each resource give less xp but same xp/hour)
Done. We removed every other drop, from now on the drop rates of unique will remain the same, but all non unique items are removed. We reduced XP gained per collected resource to match acquisition rate. Sincerely Jamflex
The other issue with RWT / Services is that it allows microtransactions to effectively take place, just that Jagex isn't making the money off it. You let people buy items, levels and gold without really earning them.
Mat missed the point on why RWT damages the game. It's simple; every time you pay a gold seller 🦀$11 for gold, you are NOT paying Jagex 🦀$11 for a bond, which you can sell for GP. So RWT takes money from Jagex's pockets and gives it to RWT'ers.
I think I would prefer the game to be ironman-only to be honest, it would solve all rwt and the VAST majority of botting cases. Almost every person I've known who said they'd hate iron or never play it actually ended up liking it more than the normal game once they actually give it a shot for 2+ weeks. I think it's definitely a viable model or route for osrs to go down if they were to communicate the decision in a way that resonates with the playerbase.
damn these guys should of listened to mod mat k man litterally called it months before the removal of the duel arena. ITS COMPLETELY OUT OF JAGEX HANDS NOW!!!! BRING DUEL ARENA BACK 2023 !!! GIVE US OUR OLD GAME BACK!!!
When you guys are talking about staking.. I couldn't help but think the whole time when you were asking matt k questions about stopping staking and how staking is bad for people and trying to come up with solutions about why and how people are doing this.. Its not runescape that is creating or fabricating these problems.. ITS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.. WE LIVE IN 2021.. THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE OF RUNESCAPE.. THIS IS A GAME.. PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM OUTSIDE OF THIS GAME. And trying to solve the worlds problems through a video game or blaming a video game is ridiculous.
Wtf is Raikesy talking about… nobody is botting raids.. people are farming raids cause it’s the only content in the game worth doing hence why items drop… mod mat k is saying people are botting the content not worth doing so you can do that content more frequently with limited cost. You would not enjoy the game if you could not farm fun content consistently… as an Ironman I can honestly say the worst feeling is when you’re in the middle of a grind at raids etc. and you run out of scales or prayer pots or food
44:00 The reason RS3 doesn't have nearly as many bots is because it's much less profitable to bot RS3. The detection is better (kudos to many engine upgrades and Jacmob afaik), there's fewer players and the market for gold has been destroyed by microtransactions.
shame mat is no longer at jagex, i don't think many people understand the impact of the duel arena like he does. runebet has been trying to get people to stop using the duel arena for years now, time for duel arena addicts to get milked from awful rtp
Raikesy complains about botters/rwters making the game worse for him as a main by farming end-game content (specifically references Venezuelan gold farmers at Nightmare) and then shortly after asks Mat to convince him how RWT is bad for the game when its just people trying to make money but it doesn't affect him at all. What.
This podcast would be a lot more enjoyable if some of you invested in an appropriate mic. You can literally get a BLUE YETI for $50 and it won't sound like a calculator (one of yall currently do)
The whole ironman glitch ban is ridiculous. Selling items to a shop 0isnt a bug, buying overstocked items isnt a bug, it doesnt fit any definition of any rule anywhere. Sure, change the rule, tell people to stop, but dont ban people for breaking a rule that doesnt fucking exist... Ironman is somewhat single player, sure, but it is not purely and entirely single player. We can get pked, we can get crashed doing slayer, we can have to wait for stores to restock after regular players buy the store out (or at least that was true at the time of banning) so you cant argue that ironman must be completely without influence from other players. YOU fucked up, Jagex. YOU left that option in the game, dont punish the players for using a feature that has always been in the game and has always been condoned simply because you changed your mind...
🤣🤣🤣 imagine how boring it would be watching the gameplay over and over of each flagged acc. Clearly they still don't know how to use the technology aka high scores for bosses
When I click a link that say's Ex mod mat K I expected you to let him actually speak and not interrupt him 24/7. Raikesy specifically needs to learn to stfu whilst the guest is trying to answer the very question you asked them to answer.
What a waste of an interview with Mat K. Stupid questions for him, too much chatter and simping out. Mat should do an interview with Crumb. That would actually be intriguing.
Another amazing podcast gents, one of my favorites.. I'm only half way through but I would like to suggest some tinkering with the audio levels, I find myself turning my volume up and down for each speaker and I also found Mat to be constantly drowned out. Mintmadcow has the cleanest audio but the sound level also got drowned out by RiceCup etc.. just some food for thought :D
Raikesy really showed how computer illiterate he is. He didnt know what computers on the cloud are and he doesnt know what c++ is. Wow i learned about all this stuff playing Runescape as a kid.
this guy raiksey is aiming his troubles at the wrong people. he dislikes bots for ruining his endgame pvm prices but has sympathy for the goldfarmers. its the goldfarmers ruining tob man they arent bots they are vennies. the bots make the supply prices cheaper its the goldfarmers "putting food on their plate" that ruin endgame pvm
The guy top right cuts people off way too much. He has to cool his jets a bit. I can see the passion behind it all but if you want to change the convo so harshly put a timer on answers rather than kick people for going into depth..
Listening to you guys talk to Mat with no computing knowledge or otherwise and trying to argue against him with your ideas is kinda like nails on a chalk board
you guys have no idea what mods do do you i see millions of people still botting you can litterly see who is botting or not shame you guys call yourself mods.
