Rededication of the National Army Monument

Today Taoiseach, Mr. Leo Varadkar T.D., the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence, Mr. Micheál Martin T.D. and the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces Lieutenant General Seán Clancy, attended a ceremony in Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin, to rededicate the National Army Monument in honour of soldiers of the National Army who died during the Civil War.
A Lieutenant's Guard of Honour was provided by the 1st Infantry Battalion, stationed in Dún Uí Mhaoilíosa, Galway, while a graveside Honour Guard at the memorial was provided by the 7th Infantry Battalion, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.

What a beautiful amazing ceremony to remember the falling men of the irish military well done to eveyone involved you all did a fantastic job ireland is proud of you always your fallen brothers and sisters are smiling down on you as is the chief himself micheal. To all proud irish men and women still serving ireland in our defence forces todsy through these horrible challening times thank you for your dedication and hard work

Very strange that there was no applause when An Taoiseach unveiled the memorial. Also why on earth did the chaplain wear a stole over his uniform. Even a protestant minister would wear a cassock and surplice.

I think the chaplain wore it because even though he's a military parishioner he's still a priest and a man of the cloth iv seen army chaplains wear a green camo one overseas

@@supermarkmoo what do you mean by parishioner? Priests aren’t parishioners, the laity are. The proper vestments for a Catholic or Anglican padre is cassock surplice stole/scarf not a stole over a no 1 uniform. And it’s purple stole for memorials/funerals not white!
