i just started playing french horn a few months ago (I'm a sophomore in hs) and i was put on first part for this piece... i was definitely scared at first but now i love it. i perform it today :)
I remember playing this in 7th grade. Coming back a few years later, after having different things happen in my life, this piece really speaks to me and makes me listen to it in a new way. It makes me think of everything good that has happened in life, like nothing bad exists.
I love this song, it makes me cry everytime i listen to it. My band played it for UIL, i was a bassoon, but we our band got a 2. I still remember our great french horns that nailed that first part, and all of our soloists did amazing. Me and the other bassoon were 7th graders in the top band and we didnt tune very well, but i love this song so much.
I remember I got the French Horn parts on this piece and I absolutely loved it. There were only 2 of us at the time and the other French horn didn’t play as loud or at all so It was really up to me to make up for it. I had to genuinely practice this song like crazy for months to nail everything. I would play it alongside this video to know where exactly where I was. I tried my best to be as loud but clean as possible. I loved it, such a beautiful song.
Played this song in my first year of high school. Was my personal favorite of the repertoire, so it feels great that have this recommended to me after all those years.
Billy Jenkins This song is far from easy. Just because the notes that you play are easy notes, and just because the rhythms are easy doesn't make the piece easy. This piece is very hard, in that because you have to be constantly listening to the rest of the band and people around you. Also, there is tons of dynamic phrasing, and moments where the balance of each section has to be completely perfect. Artistical tone is another key aspect which makes this song very complex. This song is far from easy. Just don't forget about what really makes a song a song :)
This peice is just amazing for horns and trombones like honestly i am a horn player and I just cant stop playing it honestly bro juat amazing there really is no word to describe it its that good
The true key to happiness is the ability to forgive someone for their wrongdoings and give them a second chance. A chance to redeem themselves. After all, forgiveness is the most powerful emotion after love. All you need is trust.
I play alto on this piece. The whole thing is beautiful, but the surge right before the final few measures is my favorite. The calm, air so thick you can cut it with a knife, then my director goes, “HIT IT!” Bam. Chills every time.
As a flute player, I can say this is my favourite piece to play. I play first flute in here, It feels like it’s straight out of a Disney movie and it’s SO BEAUTIFUL
I played Clarinet with this song and omg it was one of my favorite pieces. It's just so damn beautiful. It was one of the times where every piece we played that semester was amazing
Anyone elses band director give the brass the license to blair at the end. And tell the horns to do horns up. (I'm a freshman horn player) Very fun piece the horn rips are crazy fun
So sad. I had first part at my region concert and played the trumpet solo, but then I was put in second band and was given second part just cuz I'm a freshman.
Aleya V Khounsavath i do not know if you mean grade typically played in, or grade of difficulty. i will assume the latter. i believe it was a grade 3, at least by Texas standards of rating music.
"Perfekte" Einspielung, aber meinem Empfinden nach absolut "nüchtern" und völlig ohne dem Gefühl, welches das Stück benötigt sowie viel zu viel Vibrato, vor allem in der Flöte!
