It's been long enough that I really don't want to, but at this point, I just gotta ask; is them referring to themselves as a married couple part of a running bit, or are they legitimately married? lol. I just assumed it was the former until now, but this comment really shot that confidence.
Fun Fact: Dippin' Dots is made by dripping the liquid ice cream mixture into liquid nitrogen where the droplets are flash frozen into little balls. So the "dip" refers to the ice cream being dipped in liquid nitrogen.
I think it's truely dang hilarious that they never take full control of their editor. Like freak. Stop drawing for 3 dang minutes..... Look up what the heck you're talking about.... then pay your editor to make it seem like there was no pause. It's almost like you haven't been at this for 10 years. Children in 3rd grade know how these are made.
@@cloudsteele1989its a speed draw they are talking over it. Also Julia sometimes does research (in the form of a Google search) when they are conversing.
Personally I'd rank the difficulty to adapt to their new face as: 1 jacob(the focus on his "little guy gremlin" energy as opposed to his chaotic tall guy vibe is still not 100% with me) 2 julia (the focus on the eldritch aspect of her character as opposed to a 50/50 of that and her portrait is different but still fits pretty well) 3( karina she definitely toned down her gremlin energy but it's definitely still there) 4(Nathan looks like the self depreciating cinnamon bun we all desperately try to compliment like he always does)
when i say i literally felt every single emotion i ever had between the years 2010-2014 as soon as the ship was brought up, i MEAN it. i remember nearly every thing invader zim related that happened in that time + every bit of info i collected, INCLUDING the 15+ irken ocs and how i tried to convince some kids who were bullying me that i was irken to get them to stop bullying me. it didnt work, haha i wonder why! anyways thanks for this episode, my inner child is thriving :3c
the IZ fandom was fuckin NUTS. she Did indeed call us out as well (vry nostalgic to hear abt IZ ships in 2023 lmao. i remember so many fics.. so many drawings... i have Seen so Much...)
Episode idea: One artist draws something and the other 3 render it. Each in their own style, So there's 3 different renders of the same original sketch.
I've noticed that since "Spiderman: Across The Spider-Verse" came out, artists have been making their own spidersonas, and now I'm curious as to what Drawfee's spidersonas would look like.
I'm just headcanoning that Dib is leading Zim to a trap and grinning because he's "bouta getem!" Either that or Early Installment Weirdness is in full effect.
since julia has been doing a great job championing libraries on twitter recently, you should do drawings based on weird library of congress subject headings! there are some very specific ones out there (source: i’m a librarian)
How about an episode where the team makes a comic like they would in the industry? (Someone sketches, someone inks, someone colors, and someone does the after effects/cleanup)
Just wanted to chime in and say that I think the dual format is a really great balance between the individual speed draws and the everyone speed draws. This was really fun to watch & I love both of your interpretations.
Drawing suggestion: draw each other into an isekai. Example- Nathan is king of dinosaurs in a prehistoric world; Karina uses a Digimon deck in a YuGiOh-esque dimension; Julia is a Drawtective in an isekai full of vampires; and Jacob is the leader of a bunch of little guys rebelling against hot villains.
You should check it out, see how you like it. Not every single episode is gold, but it has more than its fair share of comedy. It does lean towards a specific kinda humor/vibe that doesn't click with everyone though.
Seeing this makes me wish there was a reboot of the show where instead of being nickelodeon kid friendly, Vasquez could just go hog wild with what he wants the show to be like.
I HAVE A DRAWING SUGGESTION that you guys will probably NOT have fun with lmao yall should do a speed draw episode not knowing who's is who's and try to guess the artist! in other words: try to trick your friends you're someone else!
They should also use their knowledge of each other to try to trick each other. Like Karina would try to do Jacod like inks and Nathan would try to master the Julia nose out approach. Then the conversation is who is better at gaslighting. "I don't think I drew Phoenix Wright kissing Wallace from Wallace and Gromit but actually maybe I did?"
Julia's two modes: 1. Commit to an obscure joke no one gets 2. Anti-improv: immediately deadpan reject what her friends offer 😂 "I love how he looks like a CW show teenager played by a 35 year old" "Yeah i deleted him" "Tell us about your modernized style." "So yeah I did a modern style..."
I love how original recipe invader zim was very scrungly little guy energy, and then Jacob's went even more little guy without the scrungle, and then Julia's went full Riverdalified teen energy 😂
Jacob recalling dip n dots at Sun Valley Beach unearthed some of my own childhood memories there. It was a strange and kinda wild water park situation, but I too remember the joys of getting that ice cream on those oppressively hot Georgia summers. Crazy to think that there’s a non-zero chance that I was at this random water park eating dip n dots with Jacob in a much simpler time
Jacob's "Zim n'Dib" poster reminds me of how Nickelodeon cartoons would sometimes have cartoons within them, that were like old black-and-white kinda B-movie-esque media (eg. "Killer Spleens from Outer Space" or whatever it was from Angry Beavers comes to mind)
Jacob Hot Spock! Jacob Hot Spock! (absolutely no shade to Nimoy for the record, his Spock is definitely also hot just in a more subtle way. Young Hot Spock just LEADS with the hot. especially with the stubble... Jacob as Discovery-era emo Spock would be everything. kinda really want to see what Julia would do with that actually.)
i had a dream last night that instead of julia, nathan and karina ruining jacob’s opening bit they were just aggressively silent and refused to speak. and jacob got increasingly more frustrated until karina went “oh wait we’re recording?” and everyone laughed. shit played out like a tumblr post
Dib keeps giving me Mordecai (from Lackadaisy) vibes in Julia's Drawing, idk if you ever seen human drawings of Mordecai but I think he looks similar to that
SPEED DRAWING SUGGESTION: advertisement posters for a nonsense product, like a yell-powered bicycle or a handheld toaster, idk but I know y'all would have fun, and Nathan would riff SO hard.
Speed Draw Suggestion: Finishing off *each others CHILDHOOD drawings* Similar to the 'Finishing each others line art' episode. But adding in the old 'Redrawing our childhood drawings' episodes. Interpreting each others childhood scribbles into full artistic beauty ~☆
I so love this balance of content and your time/well-being. A two-artist speed-draw is just right! Thank you so much for listening to us while still holding your boundaries!
What's so funny and also the biggest coincidence (or I am assuming it's a coincidence, since no one mentions the Zim movie) about Julias 40 year old looking Dib, is that they kind of did that exact joke in the official Zim movie. Like a jojo style dib says "I'm a 12 year old boy trying to protect earth from the ailen forces" While looking like a grown ass man. Even Zim looks similar! So to me, that kind of looked like fanart from the movie's anime interpretation. But anyway, ya'll did great and the styles were awesome!
Hank Green is known for explaining tough concepts in an understandable way. What if he explained everyday ideas badly? Like in the style of Zach Anner describing movies (who I would still love to see back on the show!) • I know that Hank may not currently be up to making videos, but I’m still hopeful that someday he will come back to Drawfee :) 72/∞
Holy shit a Paramore joke in the new Drawfee episode mere hours after I saw them live in concert?! If this is a new timeline I think it’s the best timeline (the one where Drawfee hosts are psychic). (Also feel better soon Hayley Williams xoxo)
You just really got me with "Inky and the Binky Machine". You just cracked me right up. That just hit a sweet spot. That's gonna be the most replayed part of the video, and it's gonna be all because of me. You're gonna look at the analytics and say, "Why does this one guy keep playing the Inky and the Binky Machine part? Hey, if we're talking about the rubber hose style, what about Harman and Ising?
The feeling of dread I felt when Karina dropped 'ZADR'. I was like 'oh no, they don't know the fandom discourse. Oh geeze...' Stay safe, and potentially block hateful comments you might get since the ZIM fandom got a minor to un-alive themselves over it.
Loved Karina's subtle dig at Jacob's age. Felt like i could hear a grimace from Jacob in response. I am older than everyone on this show so it hurt me too when they were discussing age. I was entering college when the show came out.
11:43 karina going "yes" is so funny i feel like she just held back from being like "yes jacob, painted backgrounds with cell animation was very popular. Well outside the specific era, even" kldmfg or at least that's what i was thinking
I love how the gang went on a whole dippin dots tangent when Dibs is also an actual ice cream (a childhood favorite of mine since dippin dots were never available in my area for some reason)
Oh my god, THANK YOU for putting the brush on screen. I swear, every time you all brought up a brush I loved, by the time the episode came out, the brush would be lost to time, or it's in a different language.
I feel the annoying need to clarify the confusion wrt Dib and Zim’s ages that Dib’s like a human kid and that’s why he’s short, but According To The Creators, Zim is a full grown Irken he’s just tiny and stupid. This does mean that at some point Dib will be like twice Zim’s height and I think that that’s hilarious. Anyway would def love to see more stuff like this ❤❤❤
One of the first comments I left was on the invader zim episode with caldwell, asking for more invader zim. I feel so loved guys. Love ya drawfee crew❤
Every episode that Jacob talks about Georgia, I am transported to my past. I haven't thought about Sun Valley Beach in almost two decades. Thank you Jacob for consistently making me introspective while also me question whether or not I ever met him, as I'm pretty sure we must have grown up less than ten miles apart at about the same time.
so i’m at the point where they’re talking about Nickelodeon having to censor invader zim and it’s just… they got the dude who created Johnny the Homicidal Maniac to try and make a kids show. yeah good luck
The age up in Julia's idea is so perfect because there are so many "age-up" reboots like Rugrats. We also see old cartoons coming back in "updated" or just imagined in new art styles, but I love how this drawing captures both modern ideas of nostalgia reboots.
