the show were made to attract kids, i suggest brighter/pastel color pallets and to reduce the realism of the outfits a bit, to "cheerfully describe the characters" rather than "realistically describe the characters". one key word: "For Kids"

Fun fact!! In the flashbacks (in the original FIM series) fluttershy was very skinny as a child, as opposed to the other kids who were more short and stocky like your average small pony. I'm doing redesigns so that was my reasoning for making her skinny lol Also I haven't finished the video but I love them all so far!!
She's also the oldest of the mane six! (I forget where I figured that out but I know that it is canon) Edit: I just remembered that in an episode Pinkie does say that Fluttershy is one year older than her, also in the flashback to when they were kids she just looks way older than the rest of them. Idk, she has a similar model to the two pegasus bullies (I forget their names) and they are said to be older? Again idk, all I know is that Fluttershy is the oldest (and rainbow dash is probably? the youngest, I think, idk)
i love Fluttershy's design because as you explained, it makes her feel closed, and to me that makes me feel like she'd fidget with her clothes whenever she got in a social situation
I wonder why, out of all things, they decided that the design through line between all of the main girls was going to be those skirts. Like I get giving all of them sort of similar hair lengths as humans, you want the hair to be brush-able on the dolls but....why those skirts. The shoes also strike me as a little odd, even thought I think them all having large shoes with visual elements starting at the knee is supposed to make them look more like horse legs and hooves but it's just such a weird choice.
i agree w all of this 😭😭 the skirts and boots were literally the reason i decided not redesign the characters with the equestria girls design rules… its way too limiting to give every mane 6 character those and just doesn’t work with most of them!
i think the sole reason why EG clothings, body types, and skin colors are bright, colorful, and simple, is so they could easily translate the designs into toys and dolls which made them look very odd haha
me personally i think fluttershy is into the more fashionable side of clothing because in that one mlp episode she did critique rarity's stitching choices and rarity actually asked her to work at her boutique because she was super knowledgeable about fashion and recommendations i honestly think the only problems she might have had were confidence and self esteem issues, otherwise she did like the uh more stylish type of clothing buttt this is just my opinion and u can do whatever you want with ur art sooo..yeah
I get where you’re coming from but in my experience i think her outfit works. I worked in fashion and at first I dressed very comfortably and sloppily. I was insecure with my body and didn’t know how to dress myself. Over time I became more familiar with how clothes looked on people who looked like me and began to copy outfits I’d see our customers wear. By the end of my time in the industry I became much more put together and stylish. That didn’t mean I didn’t know what looked good and what looked like trash when I first started I just couldn’t apply it to myself because I was biased against my reflection. I feel like fluttershy (based on the artist’s description of her I’m not a mlp fan) might have to go through the same process.
Considering that Fluttershy and Rarity seem to be closer friends with each other, it might just be looking into a friend's interests, whether to understand them better or another reason, hence why she could explain some issues with the dress and yet be fine with the version with only her input(kind of like an art history/appreciation student and art student, one could explain the details that make up a good piece of art while the other could create a piece that expresses it)
Bro literally every Fluttershy redesign is better than the original. Like, who at Hasbro decided that she'd show the most skin when shy people usually don't like being seen?? I think it depends on the shy person and certain scenes fluttershy came off not shy even in pony form she was more %70 or %75 shy and bold for the rest. I like that the show had fashion and I also would like if the show gave them more outfits. I'm a very shy person I just like fashion like rarity
In designing it is more important to give off the vibe of the character the original design does not do that and most shy people like covering up so her design makes more sense than the original
Well, I think in the Sprink Break special Sci-Twi was excited by the idea of being in another dimension, I think that says something (Sci-Twi in the pony world was just unicorn Twilight with glasses)
As a pakistani, im super grateful of the fact you included us! most of the times people just say the character's design is indian (which is perfectly fine) tho seeing someone include pakistanis just feels nice!
Remember when Twilight was a librarian and kept records of the history of Equestria? My take is that she’s taking History cause she hopes to become a historian but also takes Astronomy because she’s been always interested in the stars thanks to Celestia and Luna(mostly for Luna on her part though)
small rant going off of your twilight headcanons I feel like after the whiplash of being put in this entirely different world and finding out magic isn’t a thing like it is in her world, she’d DEFINITELY go to some kind of science degree like astronomy, quantum physics anything to help her learn more about how this world without magic even survives lmao. sorry for the small text dumb but idk I wanted to share it. I LOVE your designs you perfectly captured the essence of each character!!
A general knowledge of the world feels like something she'd already know of her world, hence why Starlight and Sunset could better apply some specifics in their spellwrighting process(as neither went to a school the whole time, Twilight being a part of someyhing prestigious feels like she'd be aware of a lot of things, kind of like scholars during the Renaissance with humanism) By all means, she'd probably be curious of the intricacies to differentiate both worlds, but be too busy in other matters to pursue them much farther than what Sci-Twi or Sunset could send over

I love how the fandom almost universally agreed Pinkie Pie was Black. 😂💛 Some exceptions, of course, but most human art I see with her, even during the early seasons of the cartoon, has her look afro-centric.
A bit split on this, so if you'd be okay with doing so, could you explain it? Diversity can defintely be good, but given culture ends up being a big part of one's life, unless there's an implentation of that or generally effects from that aspect of nurture, it feels just as underwhelming as the rise in female protagonists for the sake of empowerment, but not providing the character development or depth that would make it work far better
OKAY SO, ik I don't really talk about this much but when you brought up mlp, I was like: HELL YES. so you know rainbow dash cosplayers? well personally they only kinda dress in like a scenecore fashion design with like neon rainbow everywhere but personally i thought in my mind that what if rainbow dash dressed like adam sandler? like big oversized t-shirts and jorts and stinky unwashed nikes that look ancient. LIKE IF SHE WAS REAL SHE WOULD SO DO THAT thank you for listening to my ted talk ^^
Now I head canon that she started off as this rainbow scene kid in the first 3 years of highschool to show off how cool and rebellious she is but in her last year she realised how exhausted it is and that she doesn't care anymore bcs... ShE's CoOl AnYwAy 😜. Now she just dresses like that only for the band's concerts.
twilights design is cute but what bugs me honestly is that she doesn't NEED glasses. as someone who wears glasses, when i watched mlp, i was happy that they showed a smart character who didn't have glasses. perpetuating the stereotype that people who wear glasses are always nerdy and smart, if you will. anyway, i loved ur other redesigns and twilights was basically exactly as i imagined her besides that. tldr idk if she needs glasses
I absolutely love these designs !!! Fluttershy looks so comfy !!! I can’t wait to see the other three :D I love how Fluttershy has the raptor hands and Pinkie Pie is flapping her hands it’s so cute I can’t wait to see the other three !!! Rainbow Dash’s design always made me mad as a kid. Cause like she’s supposed to be the tomboy one yet she still wore a skirt and everything. Obviously that was my opinion on it as a kid, but I still don’t think her design represents her very well lol
fluttershy has a sort of mori kei look and i think that’s very fitting for her (ik it wasn’t intentional but ‘cottagecore’ is basically just a watered down and westernized take on mori kei)
In my headcanons Fluttershy always has really pale skin, A LOT of freckles and she would most likely have natural red hair which she dyes slightly pink so now it’s more of a bronze-copper colour. Love your revising though!
Twilight gives me ‘studies astrology and science but has an interest in paganism.’ She probably doesnt believe it, but thinks it’s interesting. She seems like the type to want to learn about everything, even if it’s not logical on her end
The mane 6 are absolutely POC. Gorgeous designs and fantastic fashion. Thank you for this gift. I have to say though, Fluttershy and Rarity actually bonded over fashion so while Fluttershy is definitely the type to prioritize comfort I think she is definitely still someone who puts effort into how she looks and actually meticulously styles and accessorizes her outfits.
First of all, never thought of the connection like that, so thank you for the different perspective, though personally don't see it as a common hobby/interest. Honestly, while maybe biased considering I try to do the same thing, it feels closer to looking into the hobbies or interests of others to better understand them or something similar(explaining why she could explain issues with her dress, but couldn't design one herself, like art history student to an art student). There is the comic story showing a interest in sewing for Fluttershy, but there it seems closer to as an art medium with a message behind it, mainly expression(fashion can have these ideas, too, but it also usually considers/requires appeal, unlike art, in that even if not for the public, a model will still probably wear it).
Good to know im not the only one to give Twilight glasses in an mlp redesign. The difference is i redesigned the ponies themselves. Amazing redesigns. The only knack I have for Equestria Girls is the fact that they have huge heads for some reason.

I like to think Fluttershy would be the type to wear Light Academia styled clothing, thrifty clothing, and cottage core dresses when on picnics. More so when going to school, I believe long, comfy sweaters are what she wears with leggings and normal shoes, cardigans too.
absolutely LOVED how you re-designed Fluttershy. She was and still is my favorite too so seeing this made me so happy! The only critique I have is that I imagined Fluttershy to have the iconic cottage-core, flowy and gentle dress with a big lengthy cardigan over, to show both her gentleness and love for nature that cottage-core is known for but also give her that modesty and shyness with the cardigan covering it. She just always had this "early spring" vibe to her with the sweetness of the season but also still being chilly and recovering from the winter season, at least to me LOL. Also for some reason I always imagined her with crystals and a thrifted totebag with pins of her favorite metal bands as it's actually canon in Equestria Girls that she's a metal-head PFFF- WHICH I LOVE!! soft cottage girl with a secret love for metal? absolutely yes HA- SORRY SORRY I'M RAMBLING NOW other than that, absolutely loved this interpretation of human Fluttershy! I actually love all of these designs and the diversity you have between them! I can't wait to see the other 3 and YES PLEASEEEEE DO DISCORD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH LOL no pressure tho 😭)
I love the pinky pie design, however I thing it would've been cute to have her cutie mark (the balloons) as keychains as well. I think she'd cover her face in stickers so having star sticker around her face to look like freckles would've been a cute touch!!
The Twilight redesign was honestly my favorite. Growing up, I always related most to her, despite having traits from all of them. I loved learning and reading, was scared of failure, put my friends first, and felt isolated from others as I’m a gifted child, all like her. It’s nice seeing a redesign that fits how I always saw her and myself!
I love how you mentioned you made Fluttershy Pakistani! I'm pakistani and I honestly related a lot to fluttershy + twilight so It always brings me so much joy seeing poeple canon them often as brown!
I think Twilight studying science makes sense based off how the series portrays magic; I also like the idea of people who very niche academic fields of interest that look at times where people praticed magic like a medievalist etc.
pinkie is black as a human for me because her textured hair and i think it looks right idk, also sometimes when i’ve drawn the ponies as humans basically what you did i give flutter shy a hijab 1 of the reasons being i’ve seen a lot of hijabs that shade of pink and also i think it suits the flowy texture of her hair and bc i feel like she would definitely feel more comfortable covered up! just something i do
fluttershy: Yes, tall and willowy, like a runway model. I would see her with cargo pants, hiking boots, a big jeans coat with lots of pockets and a bucket hat. Pinkie: perfection. Twilight: if you're going for Sci-Twi (that's the born human one) yes that's it nailed it. And she DOES have interest in astronomy and astrophysics. But if you are going for Twilight Sparkle (the unicorn) go for a Hogwarts vibe because her major would be fringe science, thaumatology and the study of esoterics with a bit of archeology thrown in. And she, the little genius she is, would actually be near graduation at the equivalent of university level in those fields. In equestria from what I gathered Twilight is the youngest of her friend circle. In episode 1 it would go Rarity 22 Applejack 21 Fluttershy 20 Rainbow Dash 19 Pinkie pie 18 Twilight Sparkle 16-17 Fluttershy said she is over a year older than Pinkie Pie Pinkie has a birthday in season 1 none of them seem to be studying so we'll assume Pinkie graduated high school a few weeks before the summer sun celebration of episode 1. and the only cake we can count candles on is RD second shown birthday in the show and there's 21 candles. As for Sunset Shimmer if she had stayed in equestria she would have been 36 but since she was in a world with a time ratio to Equestria of 1 to 10 she is about 18 and enjoying the summer before her last and most hijinx charged high school year.

personally i think fluttershy’s palette is perfect given her palette from the original show and her overall vibe, but since i love the earthy colors, i do like your redraw of her. and rarity’s original outfit, imo, was perfect! the best one besides applejack. she had that perfect “high school preppy new money” look. and applejack…she’s just applejack, it was perfect for her, i have nothing to say abt it lol. i do think hasbro should’ve given her a cardigan, idk what they were thinking, shy girls always look good in cardigans. the argyle pattern is on twi’s leg warmers, not boots. at least, i’m pretty sure those aren’t boots. it wouldn’t make sense, especially bc they look like two separate clothing items. but i absolutely ADORE what you did with her design. pinkiepies’s…i think there should’ve been a really cutesy dress with a really fluffy petticoat and fluffy pigtails. she gives very youthful, sweet, slightly irresponsible teacher assistant vibes-like she works with kids bc of how childish she is.

i find it kinda icky youre falling into the same sterotyping as other folks. pinkie pie grew up on a rock farm and is known to do this strong girls can do. yet everyone makes her a short, chunky/fat girl. like..nothing wrong with the body type but everyone does it for bigger girls. EVERY bubbily, happy and friendly girl is fat and short. its kinda...ew to do. same said for fluttershy. every shy, sweet girl HAS to be tall and skinny. i get that 'personality' wise it fits them buts its only because its sterotyped and overdone. wouldnt it make more sense for pinkie to be buff and average hieght. and fluttershy a bit shorter with chub. pinkie is sooooo active why fluttershy dosent do much activity and just cares for her animals. like, AND shes a vegan so you can add that in.

IMO twilight would be pale as they come because she’d probably be in the library all day getting no sun! But other than that I love your art style and character redesigns!! Pinkie would definitely be plump and short and flutter shy would definitely be tall and skinny (probs a vegetarian)

i woulda liked it if fluttershy's skin was lighter, like yellow is pretty lighy, it's kind of jarring to me, especially how yellow is such a major color scheme to fluttershy... That's just it, I have ni malicious intent what so ever, I'm just saying my preferences..
If I redesign the MLP EG designs. Fluttershy - I'd give her a string bean type of body. Mostly because she Is known to be not exactly a strong girl. I'd give her some baggy denim jeans with the butterflies as a pattern. Her shirt I'd go for a puffy top. Similar to the one that flora wears in winx club season 2 and 3. Id give her sandals that have a floral style.. I'd give her a big braid aswell as give her long anime hair!. As for accessories I'd give her a small choaker with a cute animal paw print charm on there. Aswell as simple anime style glasses. Pinkie pie - I'd make her wear freaking frills. She feels like someone who would wear freaking frills a lot. I'd give her a cute cubby body type. Kinda like you wanna hug her. Id have her hair being styled like in fresh precure's love/cure peach. She feels like a bigtail girl. I'd give her a full puffy dress and jacket that had a splatter pattern. For shoes I'd go with the biggest fashion crime for comedy reasons. Crocks with fluffy leg warmers. As for other things I'd give her some viltigo and pinchable cheeks! Twilight - I'd give her a sorta Japanese styled uniform. For hair I'd go for a heartcatch yuri styled hair. Mostly an homage to the 2010's. I'd give her a few sparkly accessories and glasses. Specifically the square kind.

I love all of these designs! Fun fact: Human Twilight actually does have a pony version! during the curise ship special, Twilight, Rainbow Dash and Sunset Shimmer all fall in a new portal back into the pony world. As it turns out, human twilight is just a unicorn!
Omg I love flattershy too idk why twilight was my fav back in the day but oh well, some headcanons cus why not: your cottagecore fit is perfect first off all but honestly i see her as an albino and that's why she likes animals more bc she can feel them and they won't judge y'know xdd. I see rainbow dash as either scene or yes i saw that comment adam sandler vibe. I see pinkie pie as a gyaru/kawaii core girly with loads of candy elements and she would have the darkest skin and the biggest body with the most positivity obvi. For twilight i see her as whimsy goth/dark academy vibes i think she would loveee silk skirts (like princess kinda stuff to and crystals/starts like in the y2k aesthetic but make it whimsy). Also some heathers/the brown haired girl from mean girls i can't remember her name those aesthetic fits her like what you did! Also i feel like she would be asian most probably japanase or korean. Rainbow dash is for me just a diva with tons of glitter, shimmer, diamond, silk and ruffle like she wanna look expensive. She would have the highist heals, iphone and bold glam makeup. Not tied to an aesthetic but would enjoy vintage stuff more and for apple jack i see them as a nonbinary person with tan (and i see rainbow dash as genderfluid ngl) so giving him a non gender specific down to earth farmer fashion is the way too go very baggy and loose and comfy with cowboy and apple elements (boots and hats) who is confident but very chill and helpful is the way i see them and a good listener c: amazing art and designs can't wait to see more!

I have an idea for pinkie- she could have had some colourful bandaids on her body because she seems like the type to be a little TOO excited and accidentally hurts herself somehow. Also the bandaids would also add to the decora theme because its a very common accessory.
Fun fact: my mom has a degree in Zoology! It isn’t rlly a fun fact but I love how my mom has that degree, she used to work in a zoo back in Brazil (I’m half Brazilian half English- my mom moved to England from Brazil in her mid-twenties!) and she said that the lemurs used to steal her hat! :D
Fluttershy being Pakistani makes a lot of sense since some of the shyest women I've ever met were either Indian or Pakistani. I don't know why but I suspect it's probably due to traditional Asian parenting mixed with the more religious upbringing. Either way, it really does make sense

Personally, I always thought Flutter gave off European vibes for whatever reason? Probably because I thought her house looked somewhat like Hobbit's house, especially with that big round door up front, which I associate with Europe. I do agree with the earthy color palette, it is so her. However, I do think that we could take that color palette and lighten it up slightly. I feel like she would have a softer color palette and it gets brighter and she'd have more color on her outfits as she gains more confidence. Thrifty Shy is such a cute idea too but I feel like she'd wear her more thrifty outfits in the comfort of her own home or when she goes out to buy food for her animal friends. I do also have a note about Twilight. Instead of the skirt cutie mark, I feel like she'd have her cutie mark on one of the badges/pins decorated around her bag (and her bag has purple star patterns hehe). I definitely see her as a collector girly and she totally would have an obsession with collecting stuff like those. Love the redesigns btw, love Twi's one especially
Incoming rant(?): I binged the entirety of FIM last summer and when revisiting it, I came to discover that I did *not* like how pretty much all of the female characters kind of seemed way too similar (or static) in regards to character design (i.e. the knee-high shoes and thigh-length skirts). I will cut them some slack since animation should be kept simple, but character design should, in some way, give the viewer some idea on their personality. I love how you were able to express their personalities, I'm still learning how to do that myself. I can't wait to see the next part!
Just to mention that I do NOT have anything against black people!!! Things I would do in my redesigns: Fluttershy: ABSOLUTELY LOVED UR DESIGN!! In my head, she’d be lighter but not white, yk? Pinkie pie: oml she looks so silly 😭 absolutely love the outfit u made 4 her but I think she’d have these long ass leg warmers, and her hair would just be a big messy Afro with no ponytail💥 Twilight: YES HER OUTFITTT AND HAAAIR!!!! I see Twighlight as a geek, huge fan of Star Wars, TLotR, MCU/DC and DnD, but, like, she will talk about it only when she suspects that you may be a fellow geek so she puts some references to her favorite franchises and observes if you get 'em or not. I have a similar headcanon for Hermione Granger btw. Gotta love geek girls and I feel like Dashy'd get some of her references but they mostly share music interests and read comics together. oh, and Dash'd be a Guitar Hero and DMC fan.
