redesigning + rewriting my little pony: equestria girls! ♡ || speedpaint + commentary 

i like to imagine human rarity got into fashion and design because with her body type she found it hard to find good fitting clothes so she was like: y'know what? I'll do it myself! like the girlboss she is

I would love to see a redesign of Luna and Celestia in a later video.

Okay but imagine how cute it would be to have the Mane 7 be in dorms and seeing their Aesthetics combine. Like Applejack and Rarity having this Luxury Country aesthetic, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy with so many plants and gym equipment laying around, Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle having this cozy fun dorm, think Book Nooks but like colorful. And while Sunset didn’t get a roommate, she still has this grungy rock look going on with elements of her friends thrown in the mix and they still go to her dorm just to all hang out and study and and and, I think too much about this kind of thing

Rarity looks like that one rich aunt who is everyone's favorite ✨

first of all, Rarity looks like a straight up beauty icon, i would imagine that the students at the university would go up to her just to ask her about fashion. fluttershy seems to be someone who would have lots of plants in her dorm.

I think it would be absolutely hilarious if, in the following parts, you redesigned 2 of the main six AND you did a new Sunset Shimmer each time-

Journalism actually fits sunset well since in the sequels and spin-offs to Equestria Girls have sunset constantly write to pony twilight and she and her friends run the yearbook club

Im so pleased with the rarity redesign! I feel like rarity is high maintenance but she has to have functional outfits when she’s sewing, designing, etc. and she just looks so good in elegant, classy fits 😩

Sunset would totally major in journalism! I think in Forgotten Friendship she was the editor in chief of the yearbook committee, so I can see that in a College AU type thing in terms of major. Also, adored all the redesigns! I have a soft spot for Sunset so she was my favorite, but Rarity and Fluttershy look amazing! Would love to see Applejack in your style!!!

I always imagine Twilight with dark skin and Pinkie Pie with very tanned skin like she’s someone who’s been in the sun a lot. ❤

I think its fun you put sunset into journalism both for the fact it would give her more of an advantage in her villain era but also how she ended up with the book to communicate between worlds. Love these designs!

Drawing the rest of the main five is obvious, but I’d also love to see the princesses, the cutie mark crusaders, and some male characters too. Maybe even some characters who never got a human version would be cool too (I only watched the first movie so I’m not sure who they would even be. Probably some villains haha). I'm so glad someone else pointed out the weird age thing! If I had to guess, maybe them being teens as humans and adults as ponies could be because horses and humans age differently? Anyway, your designs are so good! They honestly look like they'd be the adult versions of their cannon versions, like this is just a few years in the future

I like when people match the skin of the characters to their coat color, I found a couple with a specific ethnicity/race in mind, but I like the non-specific designs too. I think it's funny how basically everyone agrees Apple Jack is a white American with a deep country tan.

Hello, black person here! Love your videos, by the way! The reason why many black people believe pinkie pie is black is because she is relatively coded as black, for example, in one of the Equestria girls movies pinkie pie is seen using a pick which is a tool used and for black people for their afros. In my little pony, pinkie pie is seen with afro puffs, which is a hairstyle for black people! While my little pony doesn't have any cannon races, they do imply it! For example, zecora is a whole African woman from her accent to her jewelry, etc! My little pony introducing her is a great way to handle racism. They handled that topic quite well!

Equastria girls is the blueprint on what motivated me to start drawing more. I used to trace or use bases to make ocs and then over time tried to copy the style myself. Over time I got more confident to draw on my own. So, thank you Equastria Girls :3

These designs are so good! I love how you made Sunset Shimmer less saturated and more easy on the eyes. I liked her a lot as a kid because of her design and sassy character, but looking back at it now… man, now I understand why I wear contacts LOL

i completely agree that it definitely needs to change when all the characters only have 1 body type...which is usually an unattainable one for most of society. It really weighs on the psyche when you're little!! i know i already said this, but its very appreciated how you draw varied body types! I feel like its sort of rare in the art community on youtube.

one of my core memories was getting a twilight sparkle equestria girls doll for christmas when i was like seven and leaving it on a table and leaving and coming back 30 minutes later to see my old beagle chewing on her leg. i will never forget the pain i felt that day

Because Twilight is my favourite character I headcanon her to be indigenous, just like me! I’m Aboriginal specifically, but I’m equally as happy seeing her as either Aboriginal or Native American. Both make sense in my mind, but since she was intended to have brown skin it’s what my mind jumped to instantly! Your designs are lovely, I’m really glad you made them adults since, even as a child, them being in highschool didn’t make much sense to me. I’m super happy to see a rewrite for something I care about so deeply! Good stuff 👍

I really love what you did with the characters so far, both in terms of fashion and technical design. (Also I'm jealous of your artstyle because it is SO good omg). I've always been on the fence of whether the ponies-turned-humans should have been given realistic skin colors or not. Because like you said, I get why they did it, didn't want to offend or cause drama. But it's always been a bit odd trying to imagine humans with those near neon colors. This combines the two ideas perfectly where they're realistic in a sense, but still very imaginative and fun and match with the mlp universe. (Pony designs are adorable too btw). I also like the idea that the characters are in college rather than high school because in the canon Equestria Girls A. how the heck does the general public and their PARENTS not know about what their children are doing considering how big of a spectacle most final magic battles tend to be, and B. How old ARE their pony counterparts if their age translates to teenagers, like what the heck? ALL my ramblings aside, I really like this and I can't wait to see how you handle the rest of the girls. (Also can I suggest Rainbow and Pinkie for the next vid pls? :D)

Sunset also became some kind of demon creature at the end of the movie also, and realistically people would be hesitant and kinda scared of approaching or really having any real interaction with her..

Personally I see Pinkie as mixed(black&white) she literally has afro puffs in the buck ball episode. And the rest of the characters as white with the exception of Twilight because I saw this one animatic where she had brown skin and it suited her color scheme really well. Also in my mind human Rarity has glossy black hair instead of purple.

in my opinion, i like that they kept the skin colors as they are in the original MLP. it makes it feel like they’re very much still the same as they were in the other world-in PonyVille. but honestly, i do understand-having everyone be an ACTUAL race like in real life, since this is the human world, would make a lot more sense. i also really prefer the original hair designs on their human form, because it makes them recognizable and that familiarity is something that makes you love and remember that character.

Lovely designs, thank you for these. For me, whenever I imagine the mlp characters as humans, I choose whatever skin color is closest to their coat color. So, naturally, Rarity is pale, and Twilight has a darker skin tone. That's just me
