The v on the the north Adelaide was because they had the first Victorian coach in the sanfl and he put a v on them. It used to be a v that went all the way to the shoulders
The V on the North Adelaide jumpers is in all likelihood dinky dye Victorian jumper. They have ties to a club that was formed by ex-pat Victorians initially known as Medindie. It appears to be at a time just prior to the formation of the SAFL (SANFL) in1877. Before that games were played in Adelaide played with adhoc rules and such it is probably very significant in that it leads to Tom Will's Rules penned in 1858 be adopted by the SAFL. The adhoc competitions in Adelaide have recorded games back as far as 1843.
Well done and very interesting , for years I thought tgecsanflnteams need to get out of 1980 and embrace the modern game and totally reboot there whole clubs with fresh new designs that are unique to south Australia and show the sanfl is the second best comp so they need to look and act more professional and innovative and become exciting and much more interesting
Hey Matt - love your work! I work for SANFL and would love to have a chat about promoting these if you’re interested! Tried to message you on here but doesn’t look like I can do if you see this feel free to PM me!
Adelaide Crows’ SANFL jersey isn’t the same as the Crows in the AFL by the way, and the tiger in the Glenelg jersey to me looks a bit more like a lion 😆 And holy shit the South Adelaide one was cool, and the Woodville West Torrens one was also pretty sick. I’m a proud South Australian myself and enjoy watching the SANFL too. Go Panthers! 🐆
great video and my favourite one is probably west Adelaide and their clash jumper reminds me a bit of Essendon's old clash or away jumper with grey and then the red sash
as a South Adelaide supporter i thought it would have been hard to like a South jumper without the triditional monogram but surprisingly it as really good.
Why can dose this the old VFA teams not including the AFL 2nd or AFL teamed joint with VFA teams then can do all of Victorian league from VAFA down to lowest league
This is a great idea. Vastly contrasting guernseys assist spectators, commentators, umpires and team staff in identifying players of each team, especially from the opposite side of an oval and in bad weather. Good guernsey design also helps players to identify the opposition and their teammates in the heat and rush of play. Traditional South and Norwood guernseys are easily mistaken in bad light or during a heavy downpour. Your designs are very creative, however...a well designed guernsey defines a club as in culture and origin (Centrals: catchment area has a large UK immigrant population. Red, white and blue, representing the Union Jack, ) For this simple is better than complex. A few of your guernsey suggestions are too ‘busy’ e.g., Glenelg, South and West. Also West do not have grey in their colours. As a West supporter I don’t like the addition. The West Adelaide colours are red and black...and only red and black. A small mascot icon is a nice addition but it is the colours being used in big blocks and their arrangement that would improve the identification of a team. Many teams redesign their guernseys simply as a marketing exercise so that supporters have something new to buy and contribute to the club’s coffers.
West Torrens are Gold and Navy Blue Eagles Jumper and Gold Navy Blue Shorts And Navy Blue Gold Socks only. but Woodville are gold and Dark Green WoodPecker on Woodville Jumper please 😇
Soon Port Adelaide and Adelaide will not in SANFL. You know nothing about Port Adelaide because since 1870 the a number difference colours including blue and pick in 1880. Mm Bile red and white, Red and blue ect. Why didn’t do rep better. Port first time port were blah and was 1930 and it was same design as Collingwood
