@ he did but the F removal was just sad Also he could have placed the name in a better way The end result just looked like someone say a cool vector anf slapped his first name infront of it
This is the second video i see of this guy with the same content and yes, the only he do to the designs is do 1 or 2 changes to put it more "simple".... and worst. I don't know why people send his designs to this man
@@ThaReP Simplicity is in right now, that's why Pepsi, Mastercard, Microsoft, United Airlines, Google, Firefox and many more changed their logos to minimalist versions, and why brands like Nike and Apple have such successful logos. The less clutter you have and the more immediate recognition the better.
I think it was a super good alternative. The original one looked super common, an easy solution. The alternative look strong, super professional. I think it gives it a more trustworthy look.
Unpopular, but in his defense, people who professionally design logos think a little differently. Simplicity is key, versatility is key, clarity is key. - Simplicity: The more simple the logo, the easier it is to recognize and it will match well with other design elements. - Versatility: If your logo is a weird ass shape, you really can't put it into the header of website or on social media effectively and remain consistent with your print marketing material. - Clarity: There really shouldn't be anything that distracts from the main message. What you want to sell should be at the forefront of your design. Fluff is ignored in 2018 as our price of attention rises.
@NOVAHD But that doesn't mean a logo is well made. The original argument referred to making a visually appealing logo that sticks in your head, rather than an eyebleeding logo that sticks in your head. Although the latter is memorable, it wouldn't be fondly remembered.
@NOVAHD Macdonald's, Nike, addidas, Tesla, Amazon, beats headphones, Coco Chanel, Disney etc. What these brands and many more alike have in common (in this context) is their simplistic logos, they make easily identifiable logos that are quick to recall. Logo's are the most important aspect of a brand and the image they want to set, if the logo isn't appealing or too complicated most times it will be forgotten. This isn't about what ways right or wrong it's about how you market yourself to get the maximum attention and sales.
@@ZygimantasA I honestly think that the first version look a bit oldschool. But old design doesnt mean bad design. Some designers created immortal logos, that are still perfect. I like the last version (just surname) most and I will make the blue part even smaller. Bold name+little blue part.
Rookie comment. Original had way too much and colors were jacked. Something Apple and Nike would have not done! Logos are not meant to be illustrations. They are logos and strictly for branding.
I think what people fail to miss is the fact he said "these are directions I MIGHT explore." I think he was merely suggesting a way that the design could be altered, not necessarily saying his design was the best iteration of the logo.
that's his words. and that's fine. But his presentation screams "look at me, I'm so good and you all are not". Very few people enjoy criticism and/or arrogance (even perceived arrogance) You have to take care to come across as sympathetic and genuinely wanting to help. Or just kick up up to 11 and go for the "I'm a douchebag and loving it" style. This guy is leaning too much towards the second option.
@@omikronweapon No, that's not it at all, it's not his fault because you assume what's he's doing at all, if he says what he's doing, take it for word, don't sit there and think he's lying when he's clearly doing what he's saying. smh, if you don't like him radding on your logo, don't send it to him, it's that simple.
Omikron, you do realise that the people who’s logos he’s working on have been submitted by them? They want him to offer his professional insight on their logo, he lets everyone knows certain suggestions and backs up why he’s made said choices. He’s not saying his is final, or that they even have to. He is simply letting them know, from a professional standpoint, what they’re lacking. Constructive criticism....
@@omikronweapon He asks for commenters perspective literally like 50 times. If you think that tilts towards "I'm a douche and better than you all", then you are delusional. And literally listen to his fucking intro. "Everything I make ain't that great". Are you deaf or something? Neanderthal.
Actually, yea. Pretty much LOL. 90% of the time improving a logo means getting rid of all non-essential design elements. You want it to be as simple as possible.
@@static2140 you branding should carry your personality, not your logo. Having a very simple logo that communicates the feeling of that genre of business or company. When it's very simple, it's easy to use it in a million different applications without feeling like your fighting it, and it's also helpful if you decide to change your branding, many great logos have survived multiple brand shifts while keeping their logos pretty much the same because they worked and we're memorable and recognizable. I forget where I heard this but someone said for every three things you add, take away two. Then theres the classic K.I.S.S. "Keep It Simple Stupid" which applies to everything! Lol. This is a friendly debate btw, just making conversation, no I'll intent 🙅😸
1. He simplified the Ergashev logo too much. I liked the way it was better. 2. Green Juice changes were nice. 3. Artistic designing was too simple but its easier to remember. 4. Asterisk changes were cool. 5. Fried Town was spot on! Tilting the pan made the whole picture way more organic.
Kyle Evers I am an architect student and of course I know the principles of design. Regarding the first logo, I think he just went a little too far simplifying it. In my opinion it works if it was a globally known brand (when Kentucky Fried Chicken reduced its logo to KFC, for example). I didn’t say it was wrong, but I think he sacrificed its aesthetics a little in exchange of simplicity. Still works but the original one was very elegant already.
I love the way that he's not married to any of the designs. Normally this work would cost SO much money. Being creative and re-thinking something that already has so much effort put into it is harder than it looks!
You people are so mean, it's a cool video. I don't get why people in design are so elitist, to be quite honest. Ergashev's logo came out nice. it's way more powerful, and it makes you focus on their name, while leaving you lots of space to breathe in. In their case as a web designer, the most important of their personal logo should be their name and the impression. To put it simply, in a business card, that simple design would make me want to turn it around to see Ergashev's contact info. First one would probably not, since it's colors are tame and it seems unclean, full, therefore, amateurish, in a sense that's not what I'd be looking for in a professional.
Because people think their subjective beliefs are the only truth and are objective reality when in reality it's not objective, and it's just subjective territory, he designed the logos how he liked it, he did what he said he was going to do. "But he implied that my logo was shit and acting like his was better than mine", okay hold on, you sent him your logo and then you cry about it? that's like getting Gordon Ramsey to come to your restaurant then cry when he doesn't say your food is great. Bottom line is, this is all personal taste, don't cry because he has a different taste, his taste is simple, that is all. If you don't like him not liking your art, don't send it to him, just to brag about how good your art looks. -__-
People mistaking EGO for structured feedback/critique, lol. Trust me, most CDs would chew you out in a real creative agency based on the logos that were submitted.
@@jexikavindictive nah, we don't want to normalize being high from dangerous shit by watering it down with synonyms and semantics, nitpicking definitions just to destigmatize it and keep it away from "hellish acts" such as "being high" this is how new upcoming substances will get us hooked, they don't make us "high" people so it's less bad, more alright!!! stop
am I the only one who doesn’t understand all the comments critiquing his personality and ego? He seemed ok, I didn’t really notice that he was conceited or whatever I was just watching the screen for the editing and the comments and laughs he made were fine by me? Idk man
Well he needs to be criticized by a professional montage maker on adding too much pressure and chaotic critique at the beginning which leaves a rather unpleasant impression, but after the first logo criticism I think he kinda chilled down a bit.
i graduated in may with a bachelor's in media arts and science and i focus on graphic design. i had to put a hold on finding a career because my mom has a lot of health issues, and so i've been trying to do freelance stuff while teaching myself new tricks. designing logos isn't my forte, but dealing with typography is. your leaf idea being a bit more organic was really nice! loved this video and it inspired me a bit! thanks!
IMO 1st logo: Ergashev Farkhod It's really better all in the same blue and without the lines, but that's it. In the end you changed it so much that made it worst 2nd Logo: Green Juice Your changes where small but made the logo way more powerful, maybe I would make it all the same coulor except the leaf, but IDK. Anyway you made a good job! 3rd Logo: Artistic Designing This redesign was def for the better! Simpler, cleaner, nothing to say but congratulations! 4th Logo: Asterisk You made it look more professional with all the angles, which is good, I guess. 5th Logo: Fried Town I'm not very comfortable with this "fun" logos, its hard to make them without they looking poorly made or ridiculous, but you made it great!
IFS95 for the third one, I think they were going for something more colourful and “exciting”? The simplification looked good, but it needed something more
@Sugarstellation and I can't believe you found a way to put a negative spin on a person congratulating another for what they perceive to be a job well done...
@@TheLazySleeperLives Starbucks has changed their logo 3 times in the past 50ish years, with 2 of the changes basically just removing elements. I wouldn't call that continuous, in my opinion. Same for Samsung and Adidas.
Lol Sbux does not need a redesign. The logo was original a naked twin-tailed Siren in the 70s. Then in the 90s, she got some liposuction and a face lift, and was showing much less of her hoo-ha. Then a few years ago, the words were taken out of the logo because the Sbux Siren is already an iconic image. People don't need to be told "this is Starbucks" - they already know.
Your videos have helped me so much through this difficult period of my life. The meaning of your logos has given new meaning to my life. You are the true design champion Zimri! Always be you, don't ever change XOXO
I agree with the direction you took the first in, but you took it too far in my opinion. I'd have stopped having changed the colour and removed the lines. The second is a massive improvement, overall loads cleaner. It bugged me that you used the brush tool to add the leaf etc, but I get that this is quick and just to bounce ideas. The third was awful to begin with, very word-art and just too busy. You simplified it well but lost the personality of the logo in the process. The fourth was actually my favourite, I think you did a good job on that. The fifth was ok, the angled pan laid behind the text makes it pop more so I think from an impact viewpoint you improved it :)
Agree, except with the third one, Asterix I think? The original logo was almost good as it was. The letter A looks better now but overall it just looks empty, too much white space.
I actually love the series, you can learn a lot + It's entertaining to watch. It's not like every logo remake will be perfect nor it has to be. He's just sharing his take on these and some core principles in design so we can learn in the process as well...
I remember watching these videos religiously when i was studying design in college. I've made it so far in my career since! Thank you, learned so much from these
Yea, for Ergashev, and then Ergashev sent his own logo to Zimri, and then Zimri made it how he likes it, that's it. It's just personal preference, it's all subjective, there is no objectively right way to go about art. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If Ergashev didn't want people to rad on it, DON'T SEND IT TO A RU-vidR WHO DOES THIS AS A PROFESSION AND THEN CRY ABOUT IT. That's like me going to Gordon Ramsey, getting him to review my restaurant that I think is really good, then have him complain about how shit it is, and then me getting mad about it.
Waaay to sensitive folks. I loved it and his personality helped with the critique. I think his goofy side helped make the video quite enjoyable and entertaining! Good Job! His advice was right on point as well, IMHO. We are not all going to see eye to eye, but the reasons for his changes in the logos had good merit. I feel he improved on all of the logos that he changed and gave advice for.
Actually I really loved this video. As a designer with over 8 years industry experience, I really respect this guys opinion and design efforts on each of these logos. Come on guys, it's just his opinion and even if you don't like it, it's just his perception of thins. We all have our own views. And I've learnt a lot from him.
I don't understand why people are mad about Ergashev's redesign, His original design was very generic but Zimri simplified it, made it unique (and memorable). Logo doesn't always have to be so literal. I think people will be ready to pay more to the designer with redesigned logo 😂.
It's your logo. Do whatever you want with it. But, I love his ideas. He's got a flair for simplifying design. Excellent aesthetic sense! Funny commentary too!
I loled at you the first redesign when you cut out so much, but after I calmed down and thought about it, it was actually better. Also, I like your personality, I thought you were funny. Great vid
Guys, the graphic design industry is brutal. You will constantly receive feedback and sometimes it's not so gentle. The logo is to represents their company a way they can relate to after all so people will be honest about how you've portrayed it. I actually really love that Zimri explained what he liked as well as what he didn't. Lots of people don't!
I would find this so much fun. In my school (yes im 12 so basically a baby) all the teachers (and students) are awful at making presentations/logos and it frustrates me a lot. rly happy i found ur channel !!
Whats with all the negativity in the comments...this guys personality is fun and most of his logo redesigns are great!!!!! He didn't just pick them up from random places people sent those IN so he could critique them.
Having studied graphic design I actually do agree with all but the first one, I find the first one just throwing the name out to the left made it seem disconnected. Might have been nice to try and align it to the bars but on the right hand side, and that would even give you the chance to use both names if that was important for the user. But everything else was definitely improvements I would have made as well.
There is a lot of comments hating the Ergashev logo he revised. Personally, I think he did a wonderful job simplifying and emboldening it more. To me, the original logo does have a nice sharp feel but it's too centered and yet feels unbalanced to me, it's being too descriptive...I don't know but I would find it rather difficult to place and allign the original Ergashev logo to the right and left side on websites or even printed products. The whole point of making a logo in my opinion is to make it universal anywhere and timeless if that makes sense, I think that's why you see large companies and great designers look for that simplified approach. It's a lot harder than you think to simplify something to beauty. Zimiri I think you did a wonderful job!
T1J , too many people get offended. If they think this guy is offensive, don't go check out Robeto Blake, he will rip them a new one. I'm a new subscriber to this channel and I think this dude is funny as hell.
Does no one in the comments understand that he's not just talking about random logos, they send this to him for his opinion. Key word: OPINION. He isn't some logo god and he understand that. He's just giving his view of how he'd change things, as was requested.
I was too impressed with the Leslie's logo, it's like it is perfect, even when it looked so good at the beginning, but those little changes make them look professional.
the fried town enhancements were amazing, definitely blown away by how much better the same design became through small adjustments. also highly appreciated the darkening of the border to make the colors pop. and changing the yellow border of the pan to black and connecting it to the words made the whole design feel more unified. loved it.
Title: Redesigning your SUBMITTED LOGOS. SUBMITTED meaning that those people did send him their logos so he could redesign them using a new approach. People here being salty about his redesigns are kinda off because the owners certainly don’t need to apply the changes he made but they voluntarily sent their logos so they can take his perspective into account when thinking about whether they should redesign or not
You work to improve the logos of the others in a very explicit, confrontative and courageous way. You actually share a lot of knowledge ... for free !! and actualy may end up by doing the same but for big money. Thank you ... you are an enrichement for this world.
Why is everyone hating him in the comments? His changes may not be in the best interest of everyone, but I'm sure he enjoys it. People have different kinds of taste you gotta agree
I liked the Ergashev the way it was, maybe just using three colors, two being different shades of blue, but aside from that, the original composition was perfect.
Something I observed after going through design school is that the best and most functional logos are typically the ones that: Aren't super fancy with unnecessary "accessories" Aren't super mega colorful, like it deadass has like 6 colors (this is mostly for cost purposes, for when you are mass printing your logo out on cards, it's better to keep it to less than 3 pantone colors if possible) Clear and concise when people look at it (like when you use certain fonts, some letters look kinda the same, normally the letters 'i' and 'l', so you should avoid that) Easy to read/identify from far away (if your font is too thin or faint against the background it's not really that easy to look at. The best example for this is eg. The McDonalds logo, it's bright and contrasting and catches your attention easily and from one glance you KNOW it's McDonalds) Unique (super subjective, I'm just putting it out there cuz this is common sense) I can kinda understand what this guy is kinda trying to do even if I don't agree with how he redesigns the logos (eg. the first one....like yeah I get that a lot of the details were unnecessary but the redesign was kinda eh). Creating logos is not just about the aesthetic, but practicality and function (because logos aren't just for like, websites and stuff, there's still like namecards, signboards, stationery, etc. you have to take a lot of this stuff into consideration when making a logo.) Not trying to say that all his redesigns are justified, just trying to provide a different perspective to logo creation, because it's pretty serious business if you're doing branding and advertising, and unlike clothes you can't just change your logo any time you like.
Wow this guy is absolutely pap submit your logos so that I can show you how to make your logos worse than they already were when you submitted them because I have no natural eye for design
I dont understand why people are calling him egotistical, he didn't call any of the designs bad, he actually said they were pretty good. Then he changed them a little to his taste. I didn't care much for the changes but is all opinion.
