Many areas need facelift like Dharavi, Asalpha, Govandi, Mankhurd etc among many others. But one single solution to all these slum problems are decentralisation of development in many cities all over the country.
We need to follow Hong Kong, South Korea and China in this regards. Invite Private Reality Developers and relocate or give the residents an option to exchange/buy Flat/Commerical Space in Redeveloped area and make sure to keep the Govt Babus and Politicians out of it. They just want money.
This type of redevelopment project needs in massive number!!! That's helps to increase India HDI rank!! We need multilevel appartment building that'helps save land !! After that we have more space for other activities!!!
How about bulldozing the slum areas and doing a complete makeover of the areas in terms of infrastructure and aesthetics followed by relocating its local residents.
Till 15th lane, they have approved for redevelopment. Not sure why they didn't implement for 16th lane and the main road side . Those buildings are older than 107yrs . It's very scary to think what will be the impact of redevelopment on such 100yrs old building.
here in borivali mumbai A 2000 cr private project of skyscrapers is going to start So people in slums there will get their flat in that Already others just ended making 5 new skyscrapers In borivali Something going in dahisar mumbai replacing slums skyscrapers in making
This situation still exists in one of the most developed city in the world. Goverment must do something asap with a transparent eta within 1 year at max.
Maharashtra-Govt must redevelop these areas with Mid-Rise apartments (8 to 12-floors) in a combo of:- (a) Studio-Apartment (1BK) (b) 1-BHK (c) 2-BHK The focus should be to create Residence for almost 10,000 people & the remaining space must be used to commercial purposes to boost employment & Economy.
vertical development is the way. 500 sq ft carpet area per flat with 2 bhk and 3 bathrooms. 1 single building can solve the residential problem of exisiting peoplle and give room to more affordable housing. and 1 single buidling can shift all the small shops . rest area can be developed as highly commercialised office spaces and luxury residences as well.
Not just legalize but regulate it. It is since, prostitution is legal in Bangladesh but not actually regulated and is a taboo. Also, the town of Daulatadia is so unhygienic filled with used condoms. Worse still, underage girls ( that is, below 18 years old ) work as sex workers.
Even Bangldeshi Illegal Migrants have now occupied major portion of the city ,all across Mumbai and politicians are settling th for their assured Vote Bank !
