I think gamers take way too much notice of 30 vs 60 fps and not enough on gameplay in general. I think they get caught up on marketing terms like Raytracing, 4K, and FPS and not on what they are actually seeing. From the beginning you could see this game suffered from a presentation issues. The gameplay also didn't seem anything special.

No single player studio is safe from looter shooter multiplayer garbage. Rocksteady is next to fail.

@@akkaradetsomrak6015 Redfall is bad, and that's extremely disappointing coming from Arkane. But c'mon man... it's no 1/10. If you genuinely think it's a 1, it just shows that you're used to playing pretty good games. Because a lot of games are a LOT worse than this.

I like Redfall better than Deathloop.

Redfall wouldn't be so terrible if the compass worked properly, it didn't feel like a chore, and if there was proper engagement within its story, exploration and characters. Instead it's just Dreadfall.

@@AwesomeNuke Do you really think Cyberpunk 2077 had absolute nothing to offer and no good aspects at all? Obviously it had performance issues and a bunch of bugs and glitches, but the world, mechanics, music, visuals overall, a bunch of the characters etc. were still amazing. But compared to Cyberpunk, with Redfall fixing any of the issues and even making it the best looking game ever wouldn't fix any of the other issues with the game.

No pitty, anybody who buys a game these days without waiting for reviews didn't deserve any better. Its like booking a hotel without looking what prior guests have to say.

MS is only making games no one should pay money to play. Only cheap games you would accept because it's already included in the cheap gamepass.

Try turning off motion blur... this seemed to make a big difference to me.

A lot of the key Arkane devs left to form a new studio.

​@@pandyssianrat Both the founder and co-president of Arcane left till 2021 and took devs with them. Weird West is a game made by former Arkane devs. The new Studio is WolfEye Studios.

Devs did nothing wrong. The problem with Redfall wasn't the Devs, its Microsoft/Bethesda pressuring to release early Gotta love suits and ties. Can't believe anyone believes Microsoft buying Blizzard is a good thing in any way, shape or form

@@AwesomeNuke Except performance and bugs aren't Redfall's only problems. If you had bothered to watch the review (or any reviews for this game) you'd see that the game itself is from the top to the bottom just a mess. There's poor AI, the world is boring, the gunplay feels bad, etc. Arkane created this game the way it is. It's got technical issues for sure, but design wise the game itself is just not good. We even found out recently that MS was mostly hands-off with the development of Redfall and barely if ever checked in on it, so the blame for nearly anything revovling around it goes on Arkane.

5 is neutral score. A game can be actively bad like crashing constantly, have offensive content, being pay-to-win, etc. Redfall isn't great by any means, but there are much worse games out there.

A bad game that deserves a 1 or 2 out of 10 would be something that has a ton of technical issues to the point that you can't complete the game, it has no artistic value, it's *actually* unfinished (e.g. before the final boss a scroll of text appears that describes how you defeat him), graphics are poor quality and difficult to look at, and generally unbearable to play. "Redfall" at least physically works. It boots up normally, the menus function, and it exits normally. It has a story, a beginning, middle, and end. The audio and visuals function. The game might be unfun but as a player you can interact with it like a game and it functions as a game. I think it's easy to forget the mountain of shovelware out there that deserves a 1 or 2 that review sites wouldn't even waste time touching.

That grading doesn't makes sense. Why would you go from neutral to atrocious in a single step? By that logic 8 would be amazing and you effectively have a scale that really is 1-4.

Arkane will never do anything good like Dishonored or Prey after Raphel Colantonio departure from studio.

Not to mention that the devs stated they were forced to scrap the PS version and only focus on the Xbox/PC versions, claiming that this "increased focus" would lead to a good and well developed game. Now look at the results...

Dude, RedFall was in development LONG before MS ever acquired Bethesda/Zenimax....if anything it was Arkane Austin's/Zenimax own decision to try to follow some gaming trend they shouldnt have. Microsoft/Phil Spencer have said numerous times, they have no intention to say what their developers should/shouldnt make and even though Zenimax/Bethesda are owned by Microsoft, they still act kind of independently, without constant observation or quality control from Microsoft. Honestly you cant shift every blame to Microsoft every time and take responsibility away those closest to the actual product. And do I need to remind you how badly Fallout 76 failed and that happened BEFORE they were acquired by Microsoft? Or Wolfensetein: Youngblood before it? So Zenimax/Bethesda studios have had these problems before, they didnt just suddenly appear when MS acquired them

The Arkane devs stated as much when speaking about scrapping the PS5 version by order of MS: “To worry about one less platform, one less complexity”. Try doing a little bit of research before making false statements.

Interesting you really should do a review on your experience. I am sure someone on the internet wants to see a positive feedback on this game, with motion blur off.

They didn't receive quite as many bugs as other reviewers. It's still lower than the average review score.

And just like that you are forgetting that in 2021 they had the best average review score for the games they published in Metacritic and also that Hifi-Rush from Tango Gameworks (who also belong under Bethesda/Zenimax studios) was one of the best reviewed games of 2023 to date. Redfall is massive failure for Microsoft/Xbox ofc, but it hardly reflects the entirety of what studios belonging under Microsoft/Xbox brand are able to deliver

Perhaps finally learned your lesson not to pre-order games at all? I havent done so since 2011, nor played any games even close to their launch date since then, but only long after

ehm, actually Tango Gameworks did quite well with Hifi Rush, its their best reviewed game to date and one of the best reviewed games of 2023. And they have plenty of other games coming than just Forza (and Starfield obviously), but ofc they have to make sure they succeed and are not released in sh*t poor state like Redfall

PlayStation hasn't had anything to compete against for almost two decades now, and they're actually doing amazing stuff for the consumer (they're creating the best games on the planet). So much for competition breeds innovation.

Redfall was never made FOR Xbox exclusively. It was multiplatform title that was made during the Bethesda merger and the PS5 version was just cancelled. Most studious Microsoft has hasn't actually got to release a title. There's the Psyconauts 2, Gears, Forza, Halo, but most titles are still in the pipeline.

@Rares Macovei They need a change up. Its disappointing. I think Starfield will flop aswell tbh. P Spencer said great games won't sell an Xbox so you can't get you hopes up. Just get a PlayStation if you want great games.

@@chrisvda7277 Too early to call yet....I understand massive disappointment when game like this turns out to be turd and that there is hardly any optimism left for many, but there are couple of things here many of you seem to forget 1) You all seem to have forgotten Fallout 76 and that this is more of Zenimax/Bethesda problem than it was problem caused by Microsoft...yes, Microsoft/Xbox is responsible also but not because they would have pushed this game out or forced Arkane to do something they didnt want to do as many of you seem to think, but because they didnt put any quality control over Zenimax/Bethesda studios but pretty much let them operate completely independently from Xbox Game Studios other than ofc having their games released only to Xbox and PC 2)You also seem to forget that Hifi-Rush, also released from another ZeniMax/Bethesda studio (Tango Gameworks) earlier this year was one of the best reviewed games of first months of 2023. Or how in 2021 Xbox Game Studios actually had the highest average review score for their games out of all publishers. Im not saying these things to defend the failure what Redfall truly is, but just to highlight the fact that not everything is as sh*t from Microsoft/Xbox as it might seem. Yes there is still hell of lot for them to do in order to build up consumer trust and confidence and obviously they need Starfield to be review success. And they need the same from Forza Motorsport Reboot, Fable Reboot, Hellbalde 2, Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, that Indiana Jones game developed by MachineGames, Perfect Dark reboot and so on.... They must set very high standards for them and ALL their studios, whether they belong directly under Xbox Game Studios or not

Arkane Lyon (devs who were mainly responsible for Dishonered and Deathloop) had nothing to do with this, they should be just fine, but Arkane Austin who made this (and Prey before it), might feel the ax....

More like something wrong with Arkane/Zenimax/Bethesda Sofworks... Yes Microsoft/Xbox does hold some of the responsibility but not likely for the reasons you think. Essentially whats happened was that Xbox Game Studios had no quality control whatsoever what Arkane (or other Zenimax/Bethesda studios) were doing. After the acquisition they just blindly trusted them to do their own thing, without ever considering "well how about what happened with Fallout 76, perhaps we should ensure there is some quality control this time?" And here again I would like to remind that the core problems can be found inside Zenimax/Bethesda Softworks....they dont seem to have quality control whatsoever, but ofc Xbox can be blamed for not having one either in this case. They do have better quality control over in actual Xbox Game Studios (as they did have highest average review score for their games in 2021), but they need to take Zenimax/Bethesda studios under better surveillance/control as well.

Just because the video is rendered at 60fps doesn't mean that the game is.

Dude, you seem to forget that Bethesda/Zenimax studios had probglems WAY before Microsoft acquired them...or have you so easily forgotten already about Fallout 76? Or even Wolfenstein: Young Blood before that? Zenimax/Bethesda studios hardly had 100% faultless track record before Redfall... As matter of fact Microsoft's failure here is that they DIDNT have any observation/quality control over Redfall apparently but they just trusted Arkane Austin/Bethesda completely in this matter.

I guess I'm getting the last laugh trying to tell people this as they pushed GamePass as the holy grail and went on and on about how games need to be 50+ hours of content. 💅
