Kayak fishing in the tributaries of New River coastal NC. Caught 3 using spinning rod and jerk plastics and one on 10wt fly rod with a shrimp pattern fly.

There are apparently 2 “new river”s in North Carolina. Is this the one in onslow county or the one that goes into Virginia?

The one on the coast in Onslow.

@@wherethefishare oh nice I live across the street from that river. Up at the top it’s called northeast creek which is where I put in.

@@myshihtzudontstink yes. I’ve put in there and saw a lot of fish but couldn’t get them to bite! I guess they knew I was coming. Good luck!

@@wherethefishare I’ve only caught 2 small reds in the spring and a couple handfuls of small flounder toward the end of summer. Sone of the guys have luck catching sea trout using menhaden. The hardhead mullet jump all over the place and the gar are extremely numerous.

@@myshihtzudontstink I fished Northwest in Jan and fish were stacked up in there. I was fishing artificials and it was cold so they didn’t seem interested.
