Yes! And I just found this account!! Are there any videos about how to let freckles show through our makeup? I sometimes feel like I’ve gone too thick because my freckles disappear. Lol.
One of the things I like to do as a Redhead is reach for brown mascara. When I look in the mirror, I feel black mascara is too much. My lashes are light at the base, reddish brown in the middle and light at the tips. Nuts!!! I know!!
I have dark eyelashes that are just light at the tips, but even with my naturally very dark lashes and eyebrows black mascara is too much and I also prefer brown!
Great video! I have a suggestion for anothr mistake some of us make. Not all gingers are "Autumn" or warm undertoned. Some of ys (I suspect mostly those of us in the dark auburns) are cool or even cold "Wiinter!" Yes, it's tons of fun trying not to look completely dead withnearly white foundation and purple-hued lips! Also, "nyde" shaows on use aren't browns or taupes (those disapoear into our dkin) but are purple!
I've found that the best brow colors tend to be the ones for blondes. The ones for redheads are always way too red. Like, actual red. Not ginger red lol
@@Nails_By_Kimberlee I have dark blonde hairs mixed in with translucent hair so blonde rarely works for me. I only use it when I wax my brows completely off lol
Mix a ginger or honey shade from Redhead Revolution with your clear brow gel. I found another ginger brow gel from Korea, but I can't recall the name. It's not for aging redheads.
Ok…. Everything you said NOT TO DO…. I’ve been doing it 😭 😭 I needed this video. So bad. I still have the same makeup from HIGH SCHOOL and I’m 30 lmao.. so maybe Santa will bring me some for Christmas and I can go back to taking care of myself 🤗 💕
I really appreciate the brow advice. I discovered Make-up in my 40’s so I’m really just learning all this. I had no clue about just much the brows make the face until I saw my sister without her eyebrows one day. I was like OMG where’s your eyebrows? :)
I love your channel! Thank you for making this video, I’ve been following these tips for years but no one ever made them into a real list and shared it! Thank you 😄
I just found you and subscribed after watching your down to earth, realistic tips!! From a fellow natural redhead that is in her forties... Thank you! 🙏
I will never forget hopping in the car to go to a formal Xmas Eve dinner and looking in the sun visor mirror to put my lipstick on and realizing I was browless 😱
I’m 50 and clueless about makeup. Nobody every taught me (prbly bc no one around me knows how to do ginger makeup, either!) This video helps me know what to ask for when I go to Sephora or Ulta next time. Thx and wish me luck!
I'm not a ginger and I tend to go very gothic for my makeup and yet here I am pretty much watching your whole youtube channel. Love your personality and honestly as a blonde goblin I relate to a lot of your videos anyway.
I feel attacked 😂. But this was really helpful for a natural super light blonde. Red heads run in my family and I’m fair skinned. I’ve made a few of the mistakes in the past. It’s nice to hear someone explain why they don’t look good. Thank you
Ty! Remembering having a really hard time finding a good foundation when I was young. Now I use Bare Minerals or the one I found when I was a teen, Kryolan which is a German brand. They have every tone including the lighter ones with a bit of pink in that fits my skin.
I feel so validated right now. So many people try to put in the lightest shade and i end up looking like the living dead. Also i have had people paler than me saying how white i am. Definitely going to try out brown eyeliner. Also any recommendations for foundation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much x
I'm a freckly ginger. Trying to find foundation thats a colour inbetween my freckle colour and my pale skin colour is a nightmare and to this day I still wonder how freckly people do it. I dont exactly want to completely rid of my freckles as there's way too many of them! I love your vids!🥰
Just found your channel and IMMEDIATELY subscribed! My hair is almost, if not exactly the ssme color as yours. I have freckles though and I've made many many mistakes with makeup. Thank you for this service to redheads! 🙏🏻
So hard to get a good makeup look as a redhead. From foundation mistakes to coverage (if you have freckles) !! I’m 27 and still haven’t figured out how to get the look that’s most flattering. But this video has awesome tips !!
OMG you are cracking me up! I used to be a pro make up artist and I decided to pick a foundation in between the skin and freckles on myself but every time I modeled, someone would put WHITE on me and I looked like full moon! You know what you're doing here
You are so funny lol...I am Irish and redhead. You are so spot on about over heavy eyebrows seen too often here in Ireland! Ease up the colourful vocab but great, great advice on redheads makeup
You looked beautiful! I think your 5 rules can be applied to all skin and hair colors. Great information for me to remember as I get ready for the day. Your videos are always so fun to watch and I love your great personality. Thank you!
Great tips! I used to be guilty of wearing the lightest shade of foundation (don't get me wrong, I'm not too far off) and then I started watching youtube and learning more and realized I need to go a shade or two (or three or four depending on the company) towards the tan and I no longer look like a ghost!!
@@BetterOffRed I stopped the black eyeliner in the waterline when I saw a picture of myself and thought "what the f*** was I thinking!?!?" Lol. It was a very harsh reality moment.
I always thought since I tend to get naturally blushed cheeks I should skip blush. And then a few years ago I tried it and thought, wow, what a dummy!!! Now I ❤️❤️❤️ blush, especially cream blushes!!
Yaaaassss girl. I feel your pain. When I get color matched, they always match me super light and it looks terrible. My neck is about 3 shades lighter and they try to match foundation to my neck shade. No!! I would add one - add some color to lips even if just a colored balm. Because redheads are pale, our teeth look yellow in comparison to skin. Some color helps. 😘😘
For me the freckles are the most annoying - it's so easy to tell when i'm wearing foundation because my freckles go all smeary! It's so annoying so I generally just avoid makeup.
I recommend using a clear mascara. It’s like a black or brown mascara except it doesn’t stand out like sooo much. It enhances your natural hair colors and gives it more of a natural look. 🥰
You're such a great makeup artist I've never commented that on any of your videos and now I feel bad I haven't lol I'm usually just so invested and intrigued by the crime video your covering n comment on that but your so good I just wanted to tell u ♡♡♡
Hi! Great video as always! I am the goblin shade and still have to use the white foundation add in. A few problems I’ve found: - pink blush Pink always makes me just look overheated or like a doll, but something like a NARS Sexual Healing or Tarte glisten add a golden grown woman glow. - too warm or ashy (green) eyebrows. Neutral or golden are the best. - the wrong shade lipstick like a flat nude or anything grayish - too dark eyeshadow Some tips on highlighters and/or lighter eyeshadow colors and the shade of bronze you use would be great! Best wishes💕
Better Off Red Thanks! Apologies for so many ideas on your videos. I’m Just so glad to have a grown up redhead giving excellent advice, that I’m eager to find out more of your info. A few more ideas: - Alternatives to brown liner would be cool too. I’ve tried navy on the upper waterline and it really helps whiten the eyes. - I have hazel eyes, though. Maybe blue green for blue eyes? - what to do when white hairs come in. To cover or not cover? I’ve considered doing a white streak since I have part white already, but was told by my hairstylist that it would just look yellowy because of all the red around it. What to do so we don’t look apricot sandy or bonkers false looking dark or bright orange? Ideally, most darker gingers like me would love to go your lovely color as we go white. Glosses? Shampoos?
When I was born I had beautiful strawberry blonde hair, it darkened as I grew older to a lovely Auburn in my preteen years, and landed at a mix of indecisiveness. There's Auburn, light blonde, dark blonde, and bright red/ orange. I have kept my hair bleach blonde for several years and it suits me pretty well. However, my eyebrows are exactly like my natural hair. The majority of the hairs are basically translucent, but for the few in the front, then thinning out towards the tail, those are dark blonde. So, the only brow color that looks right is dark brown. Taupe ends up being too light and my natural brow colors make them look weird. I've noticed with a root shadow, the dark brows look great, but without...eeeek. idk what to do aside from waxing them completely off and starting from nothing lol which I've done before. Just a bit harder to make a realistic brow that way.
You are brilliant. The first RU-vidr I’ve seen with similar colouring. A lot of others have brown eyes, deeper auburn hair or dyed hair. you’re funny and cut to the chase. Not five minutes of chat at the start! Excellent. Here are my findings that I find suit ME at the ripe age of 35! - I use a grey-toned light taupe colour eye shadow to contour. Currently Bobbi Brown ‘blonde’ as everything else is too dark or orange when I’m having a pale day. Gives a pale ‘plate face’ definition without looking orange. - Tiny brush in damp eyeshadow to ‘dye’ the roots of my eyelashes before I put on mascara. Or tightline with a pencil and gently rub it into roots from underneath. - Go VERY light on the blush otherwise I look hot bothered and angry, not a gentle flush! - LOW CONTRAST. We are pale. Very pale. A very very dark colour won’t look sexy and Kardashian, it will make you look like a barcode. Go lighter! When shopping, often fluorescent lights make colours look lighter in the shop. If in doubt I buy a colour (eyeshadow) that looks slightly too pale. When I get home it’s often perfect. - I find pale skin shows imperfections more so I often wear a full coverage or cream foundation. - WATERPROOF mascara. Holds a curl on straight lashes because it is oil based. Water based mascaras relax the hair and straighten the curl. I wish I knew this 18 years ago. - orange lipstick before foundation under the eyes to cover blueness which is just where the skin is so pale and translucent you can see it more on us that on other skin tones. - A lot of confusion in the beauty industry as to if we are cool or warm toned. Cool toned foundation is often pink and makes me look hot and bothered. Pale yellow toned often better but I find strangely a pale GREEN toned foundation (very hard to find!) is best. Revlon colour stay ‘Buff’ is the only example I have found. OR I add pale green eyeshadow to other foundations. The powder in the eyeshadow also usually gives a liquid foundation more cling and ‘grit’ to stay put! - Genrally I think in colour analysis redheads have just been chucked in a bucket together which is frustrating because there are so many variations and I think more research needs to be done. So what I would say is don’t always believe what they say! Pastel colours wash me out. Black and white wash me out. Medium toned colours are best for me - not too dark, not too light. - SUNCREAM ON FACE before foundation. Oddly I have a routine of suncream, light dusting of powder THEN liquid foundation. The powder grips the foundation making it last forever and also I then don’t have to powder again after foundation which gives it a more hydrated dewy look. La roch possay although expensive have lovely formulas. I have wrinkles on my forehead where it has had the most sun damage in my youth. - olive oil as moisturiser. Gives my dryer skin a lovely feel, is meant to be great for you, I understand it can help improve sun damage slightly. Oil based foundations go on fantastic. Only a few drops required! - a pop of raspberry berry pink lipstick with an otherwise pale face gives a pop of colour and freshness without the harshness of red. Cool toned lipsticks sometimes I think balance out so much warmth in the hair. - go easy on too many colours? I think we have a LOT of colour going on on our face already . . ., orange hair, blue eyes, pink lips and cheeks, white skin, brown freckles. This is just my opinion but I rarely go for colour eyeshadow because I feel there is so much that needs to be unified already. I find browns and greys best. Sometime bronze and deep plum (benefit Dallas blusher as eyeshadow). - warm toned / orange eyeshadows make blue eyes POP! - fake tan. I love it but don’t need it all the time. I love natural skin too. Often I don’t need foundation when I have tanned because the darker pigment covers up a lot of imperfections. All the best fellow colourings !
Lol it’s so true! The bronze is really brilliant, when I was working for a beauty company I want always suggest bronze it’s chef kiss*** 👩🏾🍳 love the video!
I love being ginger, but I'm not gonna lie; I'm super jealous of the women with dark eyes and hair that can pull off intense dark makeup, I look insane when I do it.
I'm a strawberry blonde and I super struggle with my eyebrows! I see you use eyeshadow, but one of my problems is that my eyebrows tend to sweat during the day. Attractive, I know. Then the eyeshadow starts disintegrating and my brows don't look even or match by the end of the day. Does this happen to you? Do you have any suggestions? I can't really reapply makeup throughout the day because I'm a teacher and I'm almost always with the kiddos! And I really hate how it feels at the end of the day to feel, like, crusted powder/sweat on my brows. :(
hahaha this was like looking in a mirror. love it. growing up in the 90s I have obviously committed every single one of these high crimes. Thankfully they've been addressed long ago
Just a note on eyebrows- I personally really like the Tint N Tame brow gel from Florence by Mills. I use the shade Honey- it's a bronze/copper shade with metallic in it. It totally works for my shade of red hair, and I was surprised that the metallic doesn't look crazy.
Not a ging, but these are good tips for nearly everyone if you think about it. Still, blush scares me because I have redness already in my face that I work hard to cover up, and then I don't want to put it back on with any blush. However, I do add some contour/bronzer and I feel that adds enough colour to my somewhat pale face. Great video!
You are so funny!! I am super fair but with brown eyes and blonde hair....I love your tips. What color do you use on your brows. I guess I should check the description box...
Here’s why that angers me so much.....I grew up being so embarrassed by my red hair and freckles and being teased for being a ginger. Then I grew up and started embracing my natural hair color, texture and freckles and I’m so happy and greatful I have it! So to have been so degraded for just “being me” and trying to hide my red hair and freckles as a kid and then told I’m a BLONDE as a proud red headed adult just pisses me off!!! I sure wasn’t “a blonde” when you were making fun of my hair growing up Becky!
Very informative, with my reactions to this video and your edit made me chuckle. But, it's good information to know to learn the perspective from someone who is a red head as a make up artist. Sometimes redheads are very reserved in speaking up as to what they dislike.
I find a neutral brow color(such as taupe) compliments those with red in their hair rather than competing with red brows Love the Kat Avon D Shadow and Light pallet as well!
After watching you talk about mistakenly using the lightest shade foundation, I ran to my makeup, grabbed my favorite foundation and spent 5 minutes reassuring myself that it was ok to be one of those infinitesimally tiny portion of the population that requires it. I’m just “special”! PS. I once had an elderly dermatologist tell me I was “the palest person he’d ever seen”. He then asked me if I’d had recently donated blood or something to be anemic. Nope. I’m literally just naturally the color of paper. And I avoid the sun like a vampire because im terrified of melanoma. 💀
I’m a Natural ginger I don’t even do my brows I got red hair and natural dark brown eye brows and I have no idea why 🚶 But these tips are very helpful thank you
Hello Miss Sara, thank you for this. I am so flushed usually that I don't use blush ever. Or highlight, bronzer, setting powder 😬 Do you have how-to, step-by-step videos? At 39, I'm just getting into doing my makeup and find you're closest to my coloring. Strawberry blonde with blue eyes. I see you, unicorn! 🦄 I appreciate your use of colors because I'm very tame but I'd like to get more brave with fun colors. Fingers crossed that I'm just missing your instructional videos. Take care!
Heavy eyeshadow and heavy black liner or mascara, nope! Also, nude or greige/super cool mauve lips (alá Instagram.) I’d love a video on DIY brow tinting.
I agree with the brows, my natural brows are super blonde, you can't see them at all. I never go anywhere w/o at least doing my brows and a lil mascara. Otherwise I just don't have any eyes!
These were really good tips. Eyebrows are a bug thing I see where I live. Some of these women go way too hard. Lol And the foundation tip is even one i hear rawbeautykristi give a lot. She uses a shade or 2 darker just because her face shade is so light it really highlights all her texture. You're great at tutorials and teaching ❤ also your outtakes had me cackling 😂
Oookay... I think I might be violating at least three of those rules! Lol. I have dark auburn hair though, maybe that excuses my dark eyebrows and dark eyeshadow!
