I agree with what you are saying and have knowingly bought redialled watches that I liked that were fairly priced. Another tell on the Omega Constellation dial is that whilst you will find the word “Chronometre” on some watch dials, this dial would originally have said “Chronometer”.

Thanks for this informative video. Those watches are indeed beautiful. As long as the price is appropriate, I don’t see why anyone would turn up their nose at them. I also enjoy purchasing vintage cars like you do, and have to make the same compromise there too. Of course an original unmolested example in excellent condition is what everyone wants, but the choice for me is not between that and something lesser. It’s between something lesser or nothing. I can’t afford to own a perfect vintage Omega or Alfa Romeo, but I am pretty happy owning imperfect ones!

Together with the other flaws you’ve mentioned, the misspelling of the word “officially” is the biggest tell. But also the double T Swiss made script doesn’t make sense given the lack of tritium lumed hands or markers and the script under the logo fails the famous MOY test. Also, the second hand should just brush the tips of the markers, so this watch probably has the wrong hands fitted too.

Gorgeous watches. I understand that something is original only once; but if you save a watch with a well done restoration, isn't that a good thing, as well? At the end of the day, if a redialed watch makes you happy, who cares what anybody else thinks.

Swiss made is too high from the bottom as well.

Yeah I’ve got one and the Swiss made is either side of the 6 index marker. It doesn’t bother me as it’s a sympathetically done gold dial (and the watch was a gift anyway). I’m not a vintage collector and like to have 1-2 watches I wear 90% of the time and a couple of vintage or quirky pieces for every now and then.

It depends on whether the collector plans on accruing true value and authenticity?The redialer does not ower the price of the watch! Its basicly a forgery or a countrfeit! If you have a great great deal of money and can pass what bascly is fake onto someone else who doesnt know and or doesnt care also and you dont care that your passing on fake watches and you re making money doing it then its up to you!
