I first heard this joint in the middle of summer, '95. It was 90 degrees in Manhattan. I was on vacation in N.Y. I went crazy when I heard this on the radio in our hotel room. I was 15yrs old at the time. Soon as I got back home from vacation, I ran to the local record store and bought the maxi single. I still have it til this day!
1995 i was 10 years old......I remember hearing this riding across the 145th Street Bridge in moms 1993 Ford Taurus Wagon. And also its a bad memory from high school...year: 2002. i got jumped and robbed for my Enyce shirt which had matched my brand new Air Jordan 17s (they didn't take those because they probably already robbed someone else for em because they had the same jordans on too). So after I ran home half naked I watched 106th and park and if im not mistaken there was a show afterwards that would play older rap videos. I remember hearing this and also nas street dreams.
i know meth n red go like 2+2, but was it a surprise that they went together on this song? i honestly ask, i wish i was there when they were in their prime

Redman was always one of the best mc's of all time man idc what anyone says hes a beast a legend method man will be in my top 20 so these dudes are both great but redman my top 5
JSpekGooseKrew man Johnny is right, this is the original version and the remix is on Blackout!.. But aside from that, who really cares? we all here came to check this dope duo out
WOOOOOOO!!!! Those were my dudes in my 5th Grade days. When it came on in August 1995, I was getting close to graduated from Greenville Elem. in Baton Rouge and that song blast through my ears. Method Man and Redman were pure lyrical in my days. But back in that same year, Hip Hop was slipped into dark when East/West were exploded and documentary The Show came out. That song was also on the soundtrack, too. I miss them days. When 2000 came, Hip Hop and Real Rap was no more.
You know those few songs that come on when you listening to music, that no matter what mood you're in, you never change the song cause its just too dope? This is mos def one of them, no doubt in ma mind
Two talented solo artists merge into a rap duo. Normally rap groups break off and go solo. Funny thing is, we all felt they should collab with each before they even knew it.
One of the best collab that I ever heard Method Man one of the top five rappers of all times Redman love you both no one did a song like that y'all flow together unbelievable
one of the greatest hip-hop duos. this track alone is one of the best ones they ever did together. the chemistry beetween them two. the way they both grooving along with the beat!!!!! Legendary!
@REVOLUTION HIP HOP CHANNEL KEEPING OLD SCHOOL ALIVE if I was subscribed to your channel Before, reading this would make me unsubscribe. Old English men have no place in the RU-vid comments 😅
I’ll say 65-70%… The other percentages is the real dudes who are just as good and keeping Hip Hop alive… Kendrick Lamar J Cole Mick Jenkins Joey Bada$$ Big KRIT AB-Soul Tyler The Creator JID Logic The Underachievers Flatbush Zombies Vince Staples Man the masses fucked it all up 🙄🙄😒
I remember back in ‘02 I was 7 years old and my dad used to cruise around in his Infiniti j30 blasting this in DC all the time. I’d be in the front passenger seat feeling like we were breaking all the rules! Good times
@@spek-27 That's the problem, everyone today has looked under ROCKS & still can't find rappers good enough. The fact that Tupac said "rap is gonna devolve into mumble rap..." is proof enough. Even Snoop has criticized today's rap.
@@krypton7676 If you're on the internet, and you can't find good music, then you're just not looking at all. There's tons of new artists that are dope, and there's still a ton of artists from the 90's still making albums. Redman and Method Man are still making music. People who complain that music isn't good anymore don't know anything at all about music.
@@spek-27 I grew up on Redman & Method Man, I grew up on old school rap in the 80's & 90's. Unfortunately, when people talk about rap today, they're talking about contemporary new school rap.
@@krypton7676 You said "no one raps like this anymore". That's absolutely untrue, considering that both Method Man and Redman are still making music. And so are a lot of other rappers from 90's. I've been listening to hip hop since the 80's. Don't complain just because you don't know about new music, and only know about what's on the radio.
1995 was an epic year in hip hop. GZA, Raekwon and ODB dropped solo classics while Meth was still enjoying his Tical run. Mobb Deep told an gritty story of Queensbridge and 2Pac was against the world. AZ and Big L lived up to the hype, Goodie Mob provided the world with Soul Food, Biggie was King of New York and had Junior Mafia and veterans such as LL, Krs, and Kool G returned with dope albums
Man I wish I could go back to 1995. Nothing will ever compare to late 90s hip hop, NOTHING. Biggie, Wu-Tang, Nas, DMX, Foxy, Lil Kim, Bone Thugs, Tribe Called Quest etc etc etc
