I can imagine your wife watching you from the window watching you try to run through that tape and just shaking her head saying what in the actual heck is he doing this time 🤣😂😂
As funny and entertaining as this is, it actually is useful information. I've stood at the tape aisle, in Dollar General, looking at these exact 3 brands trying to decide. Next time, I just grab the T Rex, thanks!
@@rhondahunt8080 There are a lot of things to use those tapes for. And whether T-Rex is best or not is dependent on the situation. It's stronger for sure. But is that extra strength necessary, or would the cheaper D-tape suffice for the situation? So best depends on what you need it for. D-tape is the best when it doesn't need to be the strongest. T-tape would be best for when you need it to be really strong.
@@kopicat2429 now I wanna know which of these tapes is best for lumber pilers, for temporary repairs on leather work mits. When a work mit gets worn out so that there’s holes I patch over those holes to lengthen the lifespan of the mits since mits r so expensive per pair. I’m Canadian not American. In my local home hardware store I buy the home hardware heavy duty duct tape. 1 7/8” x 164’. I go thru 2-3 rolls of it each year. Let’s me more or less double the lifespan of each pair of mits. I’ve made a pair last 15 workdays with that tape. But by then there was so much tape I cud barely grab anything anymore. This means it’s testing the tapes durability in regards to shit rubbing against its surface, possibly aggressively.
This is the kind of practical Redneck science that everyone needs in their life lol, definitely impressed with the T-Rex tape. I'll watch this twice to contribute to helping you make your money back bud hahahahahahahahahahha
For anyone worried about Billy's safety during the test where they lifted him in the air with the Kubota tractor, fear not. He was wearing a helmet and had his fall protection harness on, it was completely 100% certified redneck safe.
I need more redneck durability tests! This video was a little different from your usual content and i thought it was super entertaining! And now we know the best tape to use for our own redneck shenanigans!
Agreed! Boring lab tests don't really cut it. You need tests to show practical, real world applications. He's put a lot of thought and science into this haha. Bravo!
Sure wish I could walk in DG and say, "Gimme the tape!" Last time, they laughed me out of the store. I should have said, "Got any goriller?" I bet they'd have jumped all over the opportunity to get me the tape!
Would like to see a pressure test done with these...like, wrapping a pipe with them and running water through it, or poking a hole in a bucket then covering the bottom with a single piece. You've definitely shown us which one is made of better material, but I'm curious about the actual glue used on each brand and how that stacks up.
There is a RU-vid that already tested these. Gorilla and Rex performed similarly. Gorilla had a better adhesive while Rex had better fiber strength. Duck tape was a not even compatible to these two it performed so badly.
Didn't feel like driving 45min to nearest store. Couple thin layers of cheap PVC Plumbers Tape. Wrap opposite way with Slicone tape. Wrap opposite way of Silicone with weatherproof Duct tape. If rubber hose, prior to tape wash then clean with paint thinner or spirits, heat up rubber hose almost too hot to touch for better bond. Two years still no leak. Probably only spot on garden hose that doesn't leak. 🤣
Project Farm does pressure tests on tape - here are his 3 videos :ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UbXy3c2oAfA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CJt3KHFLkVc.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aRXpfgik9XA.html You won't be dissapointed!!
I would just love to have Billy as my neighbor. Imagine if you will, drinking your morning coffee and looking out the window. Then saying to your wife, "What the hell is Billy up to today"..
Interesting. We've used gorilla tape for years at the feed mill. It's great for plugging holes in bulk bags and the like. The stuff might not be the stickiest/strongest tape on the market, but it's practically indestructible. Heck, we've got some wrapped around a loadout pipe to plug a small hole that had worn in the pipe. It's been up there for years, and it's still doing great.
This is a dude who deserves his success, you absolutely rule dude…I’m probably the same age and can’t stand most the horse shit on RU-vid, but me and my boys laugh our asses off at your stuff, God bless you and your family
This man is a scientific genius. Billy we need more of this kind of educational content on your channel good sir. You sir have the entire redneck community of north mmmmmerica in your debt thank you
I've always wondered which tape was the best, i just used duck tape because it was what I knew. Thank you for the reviews 😁 awesome video Billy, you're always good for a giggle ❤
Seriously... do any of you realize that is NOT the brand named Duct Tape... it's the cheaply made off brand substitute that don't work worth a shit. You want a test...buy a roll of Duct Tape and a roll of Duck Tape and compare them. Duct Tape works, Duck Tape doesn't stick to anything and if it does it don't for very long. I made the mistake of buying Duck Tape instead when they were out of Duct Tape & been regretting it since. Duck Tape doesn't even stay stuck on your toilet seat for a week before it starts peeling off but wrap enough Duct Tape around the pipe under the kitchen sink and it will keep it from leaking for a month until you have the money to get the shit to fix the sink.
@RAPTOR-Brawlstars DON'T buy Duck Tape...buy DUCT TAPE (Not named after the animal but named for use on air ducts, that's what it was originally used for after all, the tape named after the animal is just a cheap knock off that doesn't work worth a shit).
Duck Tape and Duct Tape are NOT the same...Duct Tape is far better, Duck Tape is just the cheaply made substitute. My picture don't look it but I'm a redneck born and raised & I've used both Duct Tape and Duck Tape (they were out of Duct Tape) and the Duck Tape wouldn't stick worth shit. Never gonna buy that again, now it's Duct Tape or nothin.
@@ericdpeerik3928 hell, use enough Duct Tape and you can keep the pipes under the kitchen sink from leaking for a month before you're able to get the money for the shit to fix the sink. Lol
No-one even mentions the fact that as he gets varied amounts of tape per roll, he shortens the length of the rope to compensate. It may not be the scientific method, but I can appreciate sentiment entirely good job!
If you think about it though, that just means that the test is per roll and not per foot, so duct tape is still king, since you can just use more of it since it's the cheapest and has the most footage.
6:18 professionals? Maybe, it depends on the context. Adhesive professionals? No. Redneck professionals? Absolutely, and that’s why I love this channel
Ginger Billy never fails to get several heavy laughs and leg slaps out of me every video, never fails. Growing up in Oklahoma my whole life, I grew up with characters like this.
Well I guess I’m gonna buy t-Rex tape now. However it wasn’t a fair comparison. You got to pull with the same length of tape rope, and the walls weren’t the same amount of wraps around the poles. Maybe you need to go buy more tape and do it again. LOL!!! Seriously though thanks for the video!!
You were absolutely right about your dear wife being faithful because lord knows if my husband comes home with $200 in dang tape we are going to have some REAL problems! I can just picture Leah waking up every morning saying “What is he going to get into today!?!” 🤦🏻♀️
Killer video man that was a lot of good laughs, yah you’re definitely lucky your wife puts up with all the shenanigans. You definitely got a keeper there, you should make her a tape ring lol.
The realization at 1:26 of "wtf am I doing with my life and how did I get in a situation where I'm buying $200 worth of duct tape and filming myself stick it on to shit" is one of the best moments in cinema history.
Tinsel Strength is a unit of measurement of the stretching strength. 1 Tinsel is the strength of a single piece of Christmas tree tinsel. Then again, I might have just made that up ;^)
I'm so glad you did this because I used to buy the Duct Tape Brand until Gorilla Glue Tape Came onto the market. I've used Gorilla Glue for ALL of my Needs. The Gorilla Glue Hot Glue Sticks for a Glue Gun are the best on the market because I've Tried them All. So I Figured ALL Gorilla Glue Products Would Be Better, Including The Gorilla Glue Duct Tape!!! So I have been wasting my money for Nothing!!! Thank you so much for doing this video so that I found this out! You saved me a lot of Money!!! I'm Going Back To The Duct Tape Brand Duct Tape!!! I Truly Do Appreciate This Tip!!!!
Personal Gorriller tape story: The stuff will actually stick to asphalt shingles and stay stuck. I used it to tape heavy mil plastic sheeting to do a quick repair to a roof. It withstood some pretty heavy rains and high winds until I could get the roof properly repaired.
Me too. I have tried to temporarily mend my asphalt shed roof several times. The Gorilla Glue tape has done the job. Surprised at the T Rex tape. Will try that next time.
@@jeremyanderson2536 I'll 2nd the zip system stuff. It's some damn sticky shit. Especially if you use the roller for the zip system it's almost impossible to get it off of whatever it's stuck to.
I've never used T-Rex tape, but I do know that not only is Gorilla tape sticker and stronger than Duck tape, it also leaves a really nice, clean edge when you tear it. Does T-Rex tape do that?
I've never used Gorilla but I've used T-Rex tape alot and yes it does leave a clean edge when you tear it. I've never personally had any issues with T-Rex tape. Even using it for things it's not meant for, like connecting a kitchen pipe in a disaster as a quick fix so the restaurant kitchen didn't flood...
Showing LOVE for the channel thank you for another great video once again Mr Ginger Billy seriously man I'm a huge fan. Thank You and have a blessed day everyone
@Long Beach Griffy short my wife is a professional at cooking point blank but thank you for the suggestion I am a man that eats many different types of foods and I know how to cook lots of many types of different foods thank you and have a blessed day and I really really advise don't do this anybody else please
I can't believe I watched the whole thing, but I had to know! Awesome job bro! Thats the practical science that needs to be done! I saved $200 too! Tell your wife the money you saved all of us is priceless!!😎
Of every video that I have had the pleasure of witnessing you share, this one is probably the best. It will save me money in the future. I'm going to look for that T-Rex tape for both home & work use. I thank you for every dollar you spent and the unhappy response you got from your wife. You, sir, are a true American looking out for the rest of us. Thank you.
I've never seen T-Rex tape, but I'll definitely be looking for it now! And yes, Goriller Tape smells pretty funny (I kind of like it though. It's kind of nutty. Not worth $6.50 tho). And yes your wife is a very long-suffering woman 😅
Great video Bud, very entertaining, and I’m going to get some T-Rex Tape next time I need tape. They should play that video as their own commercial to make more sales. 👍
Never heard of T-Rex tape until today, but I'm not a tape "aficionado" so there is that. I do agree about Gorilla tape stinking, boy does it ever. I carry a roll on my truck, but leave it in the box on the outside.
Man, I live ginger Billy's videos. I've never seen one that I don't like. Thank you for making everyone's everyday life just a lil better. Subscribe and like yall!!
Always been a fan of Gorilla tape. I'm changing brands now. God bless southern science. Also it was hysterical how he kept breaking character. Paying for the stuff you could see he was like "what the hell am I doing?" Much love from Tennessee guys 🤣
@@spcpittsyou must’ve not grown up around rednecks. Or maybe it’s just the rednecks in my area, but all the men I grew up around NEVER wore shirts unless they were in a restaurant or at church. Didn’t matter if they had a beer belly or a hairy back, they’d still be shirtless. I remember when I got with my husband (who isn’t a red neck) , I thought it was strange of him to wear a shirt at home because I was so used to men not wearing shirts if they didn’t have to. I guarantee that he just feels normal without one. Especially since he’s always outside.
If it makes you feel any better Billy, I've seen reflective tape sold for $60 per foot! 10 yards of that stuff would've cost you $1800! I have no idea why any company ever bought the stuff at that price, but they certainly did.
Thats cause thats how hvac companies rip new home owners building a house. Its listed it was used wasnt used. Think about it. It was duct tape than a thin layer of the silver tape. Its all business or do it yourself lol
@@CAgrandaddypurps69 If it's a new house, it'll never pass inspection. Federal HVAC code requires reflective/aluminum tape to be used for sealing and flashing. Duct tape is actually NOT meant for heating/cooling ducts, it never was. It's just a word play off of the original brand, Duck Tape. If you're a competitor making another brand of duct tape, you simply can't market it as "Duck Tape", it has to be duct tape.
@@sethstaley17 No, Duck Tape (the brand) is actually a brand of gaffer tape, the original being made by Nashua. It's the same as we now call race tape. Duct tape (the product) is a non-woven plastic tape and an entirely different product. It's the stuff Mythbusters have used in various episodes and is/was most certainly used for sealing ducts. The reflective tape the OP is referring to is different again, it's the stuff used on mine vehicles for safety markers, not construction work.
I feel like they were keeping the brakes pressed much more on the Gorilla tape during the truck test, like those tail lights were constantly lit up from it when it snapped. Also it's a shorter roll than the rest so comparing full rolls on each wasn't as even of a playing field. That being said, I'll still buy Gorilla tape because the applications I've used it for has never let me down. Gorilla products are great in general. But this also gave me a good idea of the strength of T-Rex tape so I can keep my options open. lol
I started using t-Rex tape for woodworking about a year ago. It’s nice for when I have to bundle up pieces with it because it’s not as prone to tearing from across like regular duck tape. It will still tear pretty easily down the edge, though. It also seems to be far stickier than any other tape I’ve used. Good for when I don’t have to worry about tearing out fibers of a piece, otherwise I just use double sided tape.
ive gotten the trex tape for years...used to be way cheaper at walmart...since inflation its gone up like everything else though...still a darn good tape
Dang, I was just at the Dolla Stoa yesterday -- I should've looked for the duck tape(s). All my ducks 🦆 have flown the coup! 🤣. Dismal performance for the Gorilla brand! Most $$$, least amount on a roll...T-Rex beats Gorilla -- King Kong movies lie!!! 🤣 Love the video.
We are celebrating our 16yr wedding anniversary today! My husband and I both love watching your RU-vid videos together so we just enjoyed watching this to help us celebrate 🍾
Your wife is a Saint!!! The Poor Woman Has BOTH Of Her Hands COMPLETELY FULL With Just You!!!!!!!!!! There's Just NO WAY She Would Have ANOTHER Man On The Side!!!!! She DONT WANT To Raise Another Man Child!😳 Lol. So You're Pretty Much Safe With Her Loyalty!!! Lol.😳🤞 😂🤣
Hey Billy, The Goriller tape is actually engineered to "tear away" easily so you can tear it with your fingers and not need a knife or scissor to cut it. It eliminates the need of a third hand when you are applying it.
That's no excuse... what s cop-out! Just joking... I can confirm... Having used them all extensively, the t-rex is the most frustrating to work with because of its stiffness and resistance to tearing. And don't get me started on using it while wearing gloves, good gosh..... He didn't test it, but it certainly had the most fiercely bonding glue of the three. And for the record, gorilla tape is the best all around for use with keeping large heavy carpet rolls bound tightly
It’s plain junk. All are easy to tear. Some far to easy. That factor alone ruins its ability to do what it’s used for. You’d be fixing it on a daily basis. Some aren’t mechanically inclined and damn sure duct tape UN certified. You can do the same with zip ties.
As Ginger Bill was hanging there, I reflected back decades ago to the guy hanging on the I-beam using Crazy Glue on his hard hat hanging....100's of feet... in the air...!!!😎👍🇨🇦
besides the gut busting laughter, i work at an autoparts store and we sell all three of those tapes. I'd never heard of T-Rex before but it'll be my top recommendation from now on.
The truck would've been more fair had the trucks been equal distance apart. The duct tape had the greatest distance. Meaning less amounts of passes per roll. (in total it would have more, but I feel like the test was the cheaper/more roll vs the other) Would've been good to have one test, test stickiness strength. You know, the reason we get tape. Might have been hard to come up with. Maybe tape to top of a board and attach to truck, then drive. This really has me thinking that I should stock my store with t-rex instead of gorilla now. All thanks to Ginger Billy, my customers will have a superior tape option..... once I sell out stock. Also, the random praise for your wife, is great. Most social media will have random gripes or tricks against their partner. And it's old. Nope, you just talking her up for no reason than the fact you bought some tape.
