If you're looking for a way to build a super cheap, but reliable dust cyclone system, look no further. You don't need expensive shop vacs or massive 100mm hoses. In this video, I give you a quick rundown of how easy it is to build a cheap dust cyclone system using a bog standard, household vacuum cleaner.

I use a similar set-up 2 buckets £10 each mated head to head. Cyclone £20 at the top. Evolution mains powered wet/dry hoover £85. Pool sock over the filter £10 for pack o 10. Plumbed together with hose from blown-up shop vac. On a homemade cart. Cord, hoses, extension pipes and heads all on board. Hoover dumped daily when sanding or every other day when sawing. Take care & stay safe Josh & family.

That's a clever set up, never thought of using 2 buckets together! How does the pool sock work out? Awesome ideas!

@@TheNaturalWorkshop The sock does a decent job of keeping the filter pleats clear. So less banging it to open them up again. Easier to shake the sock clean.

My shop vac turned its toes up in June last year and I couldn’t find one locally for a reasonable price, but I was in the middle of a massive clean up and I needed one. I was on the verge of buying one of the major brands, which wasn’t what I wanted but was the only one available at short notice . . . €300 for a blue vac that I knew I would regret as I really wanted a specific yellow one. Then, as if the God of woodwork had answered my prayers, I saw a small (20 litres) wet/dry vac in . . . wait for it . . . Lidl. Clearly not what I was looking for but hey, for under €40 I decided it would do as a stopgap until I bought the DeWalt model I really fancied. Here we are eight months later and I still use it every day. Is it as good as the yellow one? No. Is it as good as the blue one? Of course not. Does it do a job? You betcha - it powers a system a bit Heath Robinson, just like yours, and it’s possibly the best €40 I spent on shop equipment last year.

Yeah I've been looking at those Lidl ones, quite impressed with the Lidl gear to be honest, just keeps going! Will have a look, thanks for the heads up!
