In this series I am dedicating time to rebuilding my BMX Gate Start technique from the ground up. I wanted to focus the first few sessions strictly on the sprint block, but realized I had a state qualifier race in a few days so I broke out the gate as well.

I'm in. I see you still moving upward a bit, but looking better. Biggest thing on gates that I've learned is commitment. You really have to commit to that forward motion and getting over the bars. Easier said than done, as I am far from full commitment. Keep at it and you get there, I have no doubt.

Yeah, it is certainly a process and it will require more confidence and commitment. I don't expect to be pro-level, but I'm hoping to see a noticeable difference by the end of this season.

Hey man, thanks for reaching out. It's always nice to meet another 41-45 yr old. The gate is a Freshpark gate and then I have the add-on light called "the snap" that comes from YellowCatBMX. If you bought them new, you would be around $750, but usualy you can find someone selling the gate for about half price which would save you about $200. It seems like a lot to pay, but being able to take gates anytime I want is really helpful, and the next closest price for a person gate is around $1,300 I believe.
