Some of the cleanest, sharpest (edge to edge) and well balanced (no hotspots!) evidence I've seen on the M2e's behalf... definitely a case for an upgrade. WELL DONE.
Eine fantastische Kombination aus Stimmen, sounds und Bilderwerken, Andreas. Wie könnte es anders sein?! Eine schöne Überraschung am Sonntagmorgen! Ich freue mich schon sooo auf den 01. Juni... LG Harald
Indeed I used the microFollowFocus. Some images are a bit shaky because I shot them with the shouldermount. The M2,MicroX and a monitor (I didn´t even mount the Mattebox) makes the whole device quite heavy and adjusting the follow focus while holding the entire set-up with one hand needs some exercise I guess.... The light efficency is definitely better than the older version and that´s IMHO the strongest "plus".There´s a new cinescreen, which seems to be more "transparent" in a way.
The balance can be adjusted with counterweights and the ergonomics are not really ideal; but with a wide-angle lens you can produce some nice "moving camera" shots. "Fall off curves"? Never heard that term.
The DOF is amazing, but that's what one would expect from Redrock. The shift of focus seems very smooth; do you use the microFollowFocus as well? I have been wondering about the M2e; bringing the light loss down to half a stop must have presented some design problems, especially when considering that adding the microX to flip the image would steal a little more light still. Do you see much improvement over the M2 using the same lenses as earlier?
Aah you might be "forced" to go out and practice some more then :-) How well-balanced does the entire setup feel when you've mounted the M2e and the microXe? Do you need to adjust your instinctive balance significantly? For the cinescreen, do you know if there are falloff curves available? It is of course very difficult to judge, because each part of the assembly add its own characteristics, not least the Nikon lenses.
Dear Templar, The video is truly beautiful. The Martenitsa that appears, tied to the branch, (0:40) surprised and charmed me, since it is something associated with my culture. Where do you know that tradition from? Ich wünsche Ihnen einen schönen, blumenduftenden Frühling!
Hello , please tell me, can i shoot in 4k resolution with redrock M2 Encore ? i don't money for buy new camera, i have a 4k bridge camera lumix fz300 and i want to buy this dof adapter for getting shallow depth of field and film look .
The Redrock M2 or any other DOF Adapter (depth of Field) is an optical device, that projects with the help of a camera lens an image onto a milk-glass screen. That screen vibrates or turns to conceal the structure of that milk glass. You mount your camera behind the adapter and your camera films in macro mode the image that is been projected (mirrored image, so you need to have a image flip feature on your EVF ideally). There is no electronic component in these adapters that affects the image, so the resolution is exclusively determined by the sensor of your camera. DOF adapters were the first possibility to create a shallow depth of field while using a small sensor video camera. The camera and DOF adapter need to be mounted on a rail and you need adapter rings to fit the camera onto the adapter, as well as additional lenses to attach on to the front of the adapter. I would guess, that the effort and money outweighs the benefit here.
